    Old school skate rink.
    Jeff E.

Came here for a child's birthday party. Yes it needs some cosmetic work, but it is like stepping back in time. As a child of the 80s, this was great! One of the arcade game is a classic unit: choice of Pac Man, Dig Dug, etc. There's actually a "Just Say No" plaque on the wall!! It is family friendly. They have a family night deal. The concessions are inexpensive. The staff was friendly. We had a fun time. Great old school skate rink.

Skating is fun despite the location but the experience would be elevated with a much overdue upgrade.

Had I read the older reviews seen here I may not have tried Skate Station on Sumter. Luckily, I…read morejust did a google search since we are new to the area and the website made SSoS seem awesome. & IT IS AWESOME! We were warmly welcomed by all of the staff. Skaters were mostly respectful - I expect a little crazy rowdiness from teenagers ha! It never seemed dangerous or malicious. The rink is clean. The programs were entertaining and made the time fly by. There were speed skates (for one song), age group races, and train races! There are a few arcade games, an equipment shop, and a food court. The prices are reasonable and there are special events each day. We will be back for sure!

I am very disappointed with our daycare center's experience at Skate Station today. This was our…read moresecond visit with our summer camp group of children ages 4-8. Our first visit went well, but today's experience was completely different. During the fast skate session, the announcement was made that slower skaters should either leave the floor or sit on the benches in the middle, which is what our children did. However, once the fast skate began, staff instructed our teachers to remove the younger children from the benches and take them across the skating floor while the fast skate was actively taking place. Several of these children were very young beginner skaters using Fisher-Price skates and skating aid carts. One of our 5-year-old campers fell while using a skating aid and was actively trying to get back up while a teacher was assisting him. Instead of showing patience and concern, a staff member approached and told the child, "You need to get up and stay up." As a childcare provider, safety is always our top priority. Having young beginner skaters move across the floor during a fast skate session created an unnecessary safety risk, and the way this situation was handled was disappointing and unprofessional. We expected staff to prioritize the safety and well-being of young children, especially those who are still learning to skate. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression on our group, and we hope management takes these concerns seriously so that other children and families do not have a similar experience.

I'm glad they have somewhere safe and healthy to hang out. It was a bit overwhelming for me with my two young ones. Not because of the older young kids, but there were so many people. The lines are long, and the majority of the staff is in a lackadaisical haze, like, hello, snap into it and get with it so you can move these people where they need to be. Make announcements about the waiver, have a line for those who need socks, and get people checked in and paid. Like, let's match the energy of the crowd. The bounce house is a nice feature for the kids. There are older kids in there hanging out, but they are not bothersome, nor are they rude. The small kids are running around having a blast anyways. I do love that there's plenty of seating for people watching their kids. The go-kart area is the coolest part, and my son loves it. They were closed for maintenance the last time we went, which was disappointing, but he didn't mind as much as I did. They issue helmets and let them go lap around a few times. It is fun and cute. The staff in the go-kart area is young, so they are laid back and will chit-chat, but for the most part, they are great and attentive and ensure safety. The trampoline area is interesting. It goes widthwise, and it is a lot going on, but it is a really good space. My kids enjoy it. I don't ever think we make it to the far end of the area, which is why I say it's an interesting setup. The arcade area is small but has a variety. You can purchase a card and play some games for fun and others for tickets. The birthday party area is upstairs, and it's pretty big. It is a fun place for the kids even if they have a lot going on.
