Decent recreational hockey arena. One sheet has the bleachers at one end of the ice instead of alongside. Not the first place I have seen designed like this, but who checked that box in the focus group? Its pretty clean, the concession area is pretty modest for a Chicago rink. Some of the nicer ones have woodfired pizza and beer now. This place is still in nacho and bosco stick territory.

Decent sized skate rink open all year round. Sent my kids to classes there which were ok, it's pretty slow paced.

A standard suburban skating rink. They have free skating time and a concessions stand, plus ice skating lessons and hockey leagues.

We were told a shuttle bus would take us to the stadium from the Central Station Purple Line. Even after being picked up and dropped off, it was a 5-8 minute walk to the stadium. There was signage to show us where to go, otherwise we just followed people around us. The directions are to get off at Noyes and walk 20 minutes. I wonder if shuttles will be available during the regular season. Of course the residential/campus areas were swamped with cars so walking is probably better. We got through security no problem, no hassles, but they should have more gates and detectors if they are going to have games here! There were food trucks and booths with alcohol, merch tents, Porto Potties (heck no!) and tents selling food that was of course overpriced. It was a very nice day, cloudy with sun and dry; I can IMAGINE what it's like when it rains! NO indoor spaces to buy food, except a couple of huge tents? I was expecting a Soldier Field/Wrigley field structure where one can move to seats and stay inside but really stacked bleachers. The food trucks were ok but food was not super hot. The field had timers and score boards but not facing south, where we sat. We had to crane to see the score. There should be scoreboards on all sides. We found some indoor restrooms at half time thank goodness, and they were clean. Instead of going back to the seats we walked around and bought more concessions in the patio area. A medical company was giving away prizes, and we were able to see the scores on a big tv (Stars won!) plus there was a play area for kids. The lake view was very nice, I'm glad the Stars are pushing the lakefront attribute, but I can't say I would look forward to coming here regularly, esp as the weather becomes very hot or very cold, as there is no protection from the elements.

Everything ran smoothly (again keeping a temporary situation in mind) and they still ran a good concessions business. Excited for the new stadium but definitely worth coming to a game while they're still playing at Martin Stadium!

Inside, the theatre was a bit too hot and stuffy, but it got better as we got used to it...or someone else notified them! The hallway into the theatre smelled like BO, which was unforeseen, but the theatre itself did not, thankfully. The bathrooms were almost fully out of toilet paper on a busy Friday night! However, when I told the one person I saw working there later on, she was very nice and said she'd tell someone to take care of it (and that person did!). It isn't bad enough to deduct two stars, even with other minor issues, but the sound itself was kind of bad at times...this is one of the main things a theater should be aware of! Some loud sounds in the movie resulted in some of the speakers rattling annoyingly. I am surprised. Movie theatres should be able to handle loud sounds. But in my recliner, it was easier to stomach...

Once I realized my route along Niles Center Rd was taking me into downtown Skokie, I thought to myself, yes! Laramie Park has a rectangular shape, looking at it from a satellite view. And it literally sits right off of Niles Center Rd in a highly trafficked area nearby a plethora of restaurants and businesses, where Skokie meets Niles! Along with there being neighborhood parking, there are also well-enough parking spots available being that there are two parking lots. I noted a number of outdoor activities you can partake in at this park, like tennis, a playground for children to enjoy, exercising on its exercise equipment, ping-pong, cornhole, basketball, and even baseball which this park does have two baseball diamonds within it. And post completion of my out-and-back run, I did a little yoga followed by a walk along its walk path where I saw even more of its other features within. Not only are there benches throughout its walk path, but there are also sheltered spots in order to stay shaded and avoid exposure to an excessive amount of sunlight. A very pleasant experience I had visiting Laramie Park, and I very much anticipate returning after I took notice of all what it consists of. ~Gonna run 'til I don't jiggle. ~ Thomas G
