The customer service in here is awful!! They have wonderful cakes, yes that is true but I cannot stand to hand over $ to a place that has such poor service. The young girls that work there have such attitude and act as if they are doing you a favor. They seem so put out to help you. I will not spend any $ here and several friends feel the same . Skiffs , hands down make the best cakes, cookies and desserts. Its a hard choice once inside the bakery to pick what you want, when you know everything they do is delightfully delicious. I love the Huber cupcake, named after our Mayor... but I can say what the do to a chocolate cake is unspeakable.. unless your verbiage begins with oooh aaahhhh, OMG! Ive had the chocolate raspberry. chocolate banana, chocolate strawberry, chocolate Bavarian cream, and lets not even forget their Spice cake with cream cheese frosting that can p[ut you right into a sugar coma! I had the owner Steven help me out with a special wedding cake for a happy couple that gave me less than a weeks' notice and 48 hours to get a cake as they forgot they would need one. On top of that they were getting married on Saturday, June 1 which I found out is a BIG graduation and wedding day. I was on a mission near the end of my looking to just find any cake and have them the couple makes do with what they get for such short notice. Steve called me and we talked a few times during the day and what we got is a GREAT cake not only on look but taste that everyone loved. The groom even ate the cake a whole piece and he never eats any more than a bite or two of any cake saying they are too sweet or just don't taste right. Most were so impressed with the cake that they asked for the name of the place I got it from, which I was willing to give. While they are not cheap and they have a very limited cake toppers selection is my only real negative comments, they are willing to work with you. Found this sugary delight on Yelp! When I first heard the woman at the counter say they're all butter cream unless you order them, I wasn't going to buy any. Skiff's does a nice little presentation. So we bought 5 different cupcakes and so far we ate three; divided them up into four bites each. They are smaller than Sprinkles in Santa Monica but to tell you the truth Skiff's is much tastier. I did a cake tasting with Skiffs for my wedding cake and let me tell you the cake and fillings are fabulous! They don't really like to do fresh fruit in the filling because they say it can bleed into the cake and we were really set on having the fresh fruit so we ended up going with a different bakery. I would defiantly recommend tasting at skiffs if you are looking for your wedding cake!! There prices are great and the cake is really good. No gluten free option which we were also looking for. Skiff's is my go to special occasion bakery. They made my older son's groom's cake, my grandmother's 90th birthday cake, my younger son's graduation cake and now they are making my mother's 80th birthday cake. Their cakes are beyond compare! I have never once given them an easy decorating task and they have never once failed to exceed my expectations. They were even able to take a photo of my boy, running so hard on the SVHS football field that he ran right out of his shoe, and turn it into a wonderful and hysterically funny caricature. The BEST! Every year my family wants their birthday cake from Skiffs and only Skiffs. Cookies and cream filling with butter cream frosting is our absolute favorite. For Valentine's my hubby bought four cupcakes, banana split (really taste like it), salted caramel (OMG), smores (yum) and good ole mint chip. With all my post I give the good and bad. U have heard the good, the only disappointment I have is that the last two times I have been there, customers have walked out. It's disappointing because if they haven't tried Skiffs they really dont know what their missing and if they knew they would know it's worth the wait! We had Skiff's make our wedding cake in June 2015. The staff is so nice, friendly and helpful. Everything from the tasting, ordering, confirming and delivery was completely professional. The cakes and frostings/fillings are delicious and they will do any combination. They also have money saving ideas if you are on a tight budget. You also aren't required to do fondant for a tiered cake as you are with some other bakeries. They were also able to decorate the cake with the design from our invitations. When we got to our tasting the staff was incredibly warm, welcoming and friendly. We never felt rushed and booked them on the spot! We chose red velvet...moist and sweet to perfection. They are reasonably priced for REAL tiers. Other places wanted to charge the same price with fake tiers on the bottom...not Skiff's! Our cake was beautiful, they pay incredible attention to detail. Wow! I knew I was making the right decision when I went in for a tasting and instead of telling me I can choose a couple flavor combinations to taste, Steve walked out with a to-go container containing pieces of all their cake flavors as well as every filling and frosting flavor. He made me feel so comfortable and never made me feel rushed although customers continued to pour in during my first meeting with him. I selected 3 different designs for each layer of my cake and I want to order another just for the hell of it because it was beyond beautiful. I've been to many weddings and people rarely eat more than a couple bites of their cake, if any at all, because they are always too sweet, heavy, dry, etc. There is usually pieces for guests to take home or are left behind. There was not one piece left at the end of the night and everyone who grabbed a slice finished it! The frosting, although buttermilk, was the best I've had. Not sugary sweet, just the perfect level of sweetness. And the cake was insanely moist and light. My guests were blown away and I have been asked many times in the weeks since my wedding where I got the cake from. I just went and picked one up for a Halloween party I went to and got the same question. I have found my baker for life!
