I absolutely LOVE this family bakery cake shop!! The cupcakes are so delicious, that we drive from Valencia to Simi Valley for them!! If you want to pick them up on the weekend, I would definitely place an order 24 hours in advance, otherwise it's first come, first serve and they get busy! I think you can also order online. The cupcakes are always fresh, and the proportion of icing to cake is perfect! The brownies are pretty fab too. read more

Omar and Jasmine are the rudest people; I've ever met. They were so disrespectful to me when I came in to pick up my order. I don't even know why they work there. Wendy and Steve should consider hiring different staff. Menu is awful since that couple started working there. Also, these cupcakes taste like crusty dirty feet. read more

Family have been ordering birthday cakes from this place. But they are way to busy to even noticed their customers. I was there, then two more different customers stepped in. We just stood there waiting for someone to noticed us. After a while, somebody walked out from the kitchen area, looking annoyed, furrowed brows, can I help you? Oh well. Skiffs Cakes made my wedding cake and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. Steve took the time to go over every detail, making sure my vision and logistics were perfectly aligned. He was kind, organized, and extremely knowledgeable, which made the planning process stress-free. The delivery was seamless, and everything went exactly as promised. I also loved that they offer sampler boxes with a variety of cake, filling, and icing samples, which made choosing flavors both fun and easy! The cake turned out beautiful and absolutely delicious. Still 5 stars but had to mention I got a custom cake here for my birthday. Honestly the work they do for the price is some of the best in the area. I remember getting my 16th birthday cake here as a kid and it's so cool still being able to patron a local business who continues to do such incredible work. read more

There needs to be a number system. I went in today, 5/23/26. There was a girl working the front. She told my fiancé and I that she would be with us in a moment and we said sure thing. It took her quite a few minutes to finish up with the person she was already with, no biggie, she made eye contact with us again, another person walks in and waits too. Right when they were done, the girl at the counter immediately helped the person that walked in. Like what about us? We figured, okay let it slide, we'll be helped next. When they were done, the girl at the counter asked "who can I help next?" While walking towards other people and not us. My fiancé raised his arm and said "hey we were next!" She didn't even look at us. One of the other customers that walked in heard him. We walked out of there pissed. Not coming back. read more

Skiff is a little gem that you hope does not get so big and popular, it will loose the unique magic. This bakery does beautiful work. I was asked to order a cake for a Retirement celebration. Ordering a large cake for a grand celebration put a lot of pressure on me. Costco is nice and the pricing is great, but it lacks the wow factor that I wanted for this special celebration. We had co-workers that were retiring after over 20 years of service, one retiree had over 50. So this cake had to be spectacular in looks and taste. After researching and reading many reviews, I decided to stop by and speak with Skiff to see what they offered. The minute you walk into their quaint bakery, it definitely felt unique and warm. Speaking with the gal behind the counter who assisted me in answering all my questions on the cake, pricing and decorations to make the cake look very classy and have the wow factor. I wanted whipped cream for the frosting, but was concerned that it might be too soft. I have had whipped cream that has a marshmallow texture and is not too sweet. This is exactly what was given to me to taste test. It was delicious. Since this was going to be for about 50 co-workers, we decided on a white cake, fresh strawberry, custard Bavarian cream with whipped cream. The decoration was subtle and classy with touches of gold and white chocolate as decoration on the cake. I decided to order cupcakes to bring home to try their flavors. Each cupcake was unique and so delicious. So I knew the cake was going to be amazing. Picking up the cake, they helped me to my car and ensured the cake was not going to slide around through the drive. How thoughtful. And of course, the cake did not disappoint. They had white shaved chocolates with gold touches to look like flowers in the corners of the cake. It was stunningly beautiful, classy and just so delicious. This is an amazing, unique wholesome bakery. I just hope they stay small, personable and special. I would highly recommend ordering any baking needs from Skiff's Cakes. You will not be disappointed and will have a wow factor for your guest to enjoy during any special occasion or gathering. Or even taking a dozen cookies or cupcakes to any gathering. They will up any spread to compliment both visually and taste that all will appreciate and enjoy. Thank you Skiff!! I am so glad that I have discovered a bakery that I can rely on for any bakery needs that I will need for the future. Attaching a picture of the cake but erased the names for privacy purposes. I have had Skiffs a few times, but this was my last. These cakes are above average, but nothing special. They are overpriced compared to the competition. I have found quality cakes elsewhere for about half the cost. In my case, their non-refundable deposit policy is unreasonable. I placed an order, made a deposit, and canceled within hours. They refused to refund my deposit. I could understand if they had already started working on my cake, but that was not the case. read more

favorite cupcake that we tried.. Marshmallow .. the one that looks like a hostess cupcake . I liked their strawberry & raspberry fillings . Whipped vs buttercream (my taste) their buttercream is actually very good, it's just not " my thing ". Pre order : So far everyone in town that has anything to do with weddings has recommended Skiffs to us for our big day. After meeting with one of the ladies asking questions getting advice what will hold up in travel , heat etc . I am heeding the warnings & recommendations of Skiffs staff. Due to us having a very small intimate wedding , we decided on nixing the formalities with a wedding cake top to be saved an eaten on our first anniversary. Tradition is good , but it won't work with my taste . I prefer whipped cream to butter cream filling and icing but a july wedding will see a whipped cream cake turn into a pile of spoiled separated mush , nor will that hold up for a year in the freezer & thawing, so we are opting out of an official wedding cake on wedding day and will order a small cake on our first anniversary to be eaten fresh. The restaurant we are having a small dinner at is offering desert with our menu so our guests will still receive desert and we get a fresh cake on our 1year anniversary . We got married in June 2025 and are so happy we chose Skiff's Cakes for our cake and dessert table! The cake was absolutely beautiful and looked better than we imagined when describing it! It also tasted incredible! We got the banana chocolate on one tier and the white cake with strawberry cream for the other tier, and they were delicious and moist! We got a ton of compliments, and know some of our guests were following servers around trying to get more! And the mini desserts were so good! We got a larger package than we needed and have been enjoying our leftovers! We definitely want to go back for their desserts whenever we have a sweets craving! They were also so easy to work with, and we really appreciated that the cake and filling options were deconstructed during our tasting so we could try different combinations. I had a really disappointing experience at this place. I ordered a cake for my son's birthday two weeks ago, and unfortunately, it was a total letdown. The frosting was extremely sweet, so much so that the kids couldn't even eat it. Several guests also commented on how overly sweet it was. While the decoration was decent, the flavor was honestly terrible. I would not recommend buying a cake from here, it's a waste of money and can easily ruin a special celebration. Unfortunately I did not have time to go back and returned the horrible cake so they can try it and taste it how bad was it. read more

I had a birthday party for my wife and wanted a really special cake for the occasion, I was told to look into Skiff's in Simi Valley and let me tell you it was a real pleasure to work with them. We sat down with Steve and he informed me of the variety of cake flavors, fillings and frostings as well as how they can decorate for any occasion. Not only did the cake look fabulous, what an incredible taste! The marble cake was light and flavorful and the raspberry filling flavorful but not grossly sweet with the butter cream frosting bringing it all together. So many compliments from our guests on how delicious the cake was with several going back for seconds. But let me talk to you about the decorating and coloring of the cake, Steve and his team took a photo of the flatware and napkin color theme and used that as their color palette. The detail was incredible and so well done I didn't want to slice it up. Thank you for making the occasion not just tasty but artistic. When we came in to order the cake we picked up some of their other delicious treats and let me tell you ALL were delicious as well. So if you want an incredibly delicious bakery for your upcoming event or just want to pick up a cake or pastries to enjoy at home Skiff's Bakery is your place. I am so so so happy with how my sons cake turned out for his first birthday. My mom was the one who called to place the order and I told her what I wanted, which was the sunglasses theme from the invite on the cake. My mom initially spoke with Steve about making the cake. Wendy then confirmed the order with my mom and Omar suggested the ombré of colors around the cake as well as the palm trees in frosting. Such great service from start to finish, the cake turned out even better than i could have imagined and it was so delicious. I think we may have found our new bakery for all of our cake needs. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Skiffs Cakes! From the service to the flavors, everything was absolutely top notch! For my wedding, I ordered a combination of cake and cupcakes. The cake was a beautiful 3 tier cake with different flavors in each tier. My husband is from Costa Rica so he absolutely LOVES coffee, so we picked a cappuccino filling for one cake and a coffee cupcake to pair it with. Both were absolutely delicious! I'm from Santa Paula, (the lemon capital of the world!) so of course I picked a lemon poppy cake and Steve recommended a lemon cupcake to pair it with, which was an excellent choice. And who doesn't love chocolate? So we also did a beautiful red velvet cake with cookies and cream filling which paired with some delicious red velvet cupcakes. Everything was super tasty and I'm definitely ordering from there again! Wendy's artwork on the cake was also beautiful! Got many compliments from guests. I just finished planning and throwing a baby shower for close to 30 friends and family. By far my favorite thing in the world is cake and cupcakes, of all flavors. So when I needed to purchase different cupcakes for the baby shower I knew I was going to love the job of taste testing. I made a few trips to skip and each time purchased four to six individual cupcakes in order to taste test them for the ones I liked best. This was a very hard task deciding the flavors to choose. I enjoyed the Boston cream strawberry sherbert coconut cream and the plane vanilla with chocolate frosting. We decided on 6 final flavors and chose different amounts for each cupcake. We also chose to customize the color of sprinkles that went on a few cakes. Sciff's was more than happy to accommodate! We arrive just before pickup time and happily found our large order of cupcakes ready to go and made to our exact specifications. The cupcakes were fresh and flavorful as we expected. They made our wedding cake on June 16th 2013. The service was incredible. We went in there with only a vague idea of what we wanted, and the cake that they created exceeded our expectation. Not only was it more beautiful than I imagined, and delivered on time, but the taste was out of this world! The other day we were going out with family, and decided to to stop by to get some treats for everyone. It was right around Halloween, and they had the whole store decorated so cute! The cupcakes and cake pops were all themed, and tasted incredible! We went in for a couple treats, and left with two full boxes! So now I go back for cupcakes, which they are the only place I buy cupcakes now. They always have more than 15 varieties each and everyday! Also-they make the best carrot cake I have ever had, ever. The cakes were supposed to serve 70 people or so. We ended up having quite a lot of cake left- the entire round cake and maybe an eighth or so of the sheet cake. The round cake was pretty hard to cut due to the height so I think we should have had the venue slice this first - sheet cake was a lot easier to pack back up and transport. That sort of made me wonder if I should have even ordered a round cake but it was definitely stunning and added a lot in terms of aesthetics and looked great in pictures. Jess was great to work with and did a great job checking in when needed. I ended up sending her a design for the round cake and she made something really lovely. She also found some gorgeous real flowers for the cake and sent me all the different options so I knew what to choose from. She even ended up adding some details to the sheet cake even though these are often left plain just for serving. We had discussed not wanting the cake to be too sweet and I think it was probably a bit too sweet still for myself and most guests. The actual cake itself was perfect in terms of texture and also flavor and sweetness and was so much better than most if not all cakes I have had. However the buttercream texture wasn't my favorite and I found it to be a bit sweeter than expected. I also wanted there to be a lot more triple berry butter cream/berry flavor. Some of the issue was also deciding to add a white chocolate layer (our suggestion so definitely on us) which didn't help the texture or flavor. Ultimately a solid cake and the vanilla bean cake itself was pretty spectacular. If I order again in the future, I would just discuss ways to make the outside buttercream less intense and find ways to incorporate more of the fruit flavors of the berry buttercream filling. A bunch of guests did ask me about the cake and say they enjoyed it so that was good. I did shop around a small amount and the prices were competitive. I had a very positive experience overall. The cakes were also easy to pick up and well packaged - if you have some kind of large flat surface like a foldable seat or back of an SUV you should be good. I would definitely order again for a party but probably would opt for even fewer portions and would make those notes about the flavors.
