From first impressions I really wanted to love this place, but let's be honest. This restaurant has the charm of an old southern home. It's very inviting on the outside and when you step inside the paint colors, and wall hangings are beautiful, modern, and trendy. The main dining room was full so we were taken to a smaller dining space. Our party of 7 was seated immediately, which was great for 9:30 am on a Saturday. Our waitress was unable to answer any questions as she was new. There was no sweetener for the coffee other than plain sugar. Many items on the menu came with a side salad and chips. Other than leaving out an ingredient here or there no substitutions were made to the sides (.i.e., extra salad no chips). The salad was about 4 bites of lettuce and the chips were about 10-15 shoe string fries. There were no condiments on the table and none offered. When serving the food our waitress asked the server if the omelette placed in front of my mom had cheese and received a shrugged shoulder response. So we had to open the omelette to check and make sure. The crawdad omelette was good (a large cheese omelette with a crawdad and andouille sauce slathered on top). Everyone that ordered a side item had to ask for the sides to be brought at after the food arrived. The chicken tenders were definitely of the frozen generic store bought variety. I asked for salt and pepper and 5 minutes later the waitress came back with a handful of salt packets and said they were out of pepper. The one exceptional meal at the table was the avocado toast piled high with smoked salmon and capers. My uncle said it was the best toast he ever ordered ("how could you go wrong with this many capers" - a direct quote), but he had no idea there was avocado on it. Is that a good thing? As we were leaving (around 11am) the main dining room was mostly empty, and there were about 10 people (small groups of 2-3 each) in the foyer seated and patiently waiting for tables with the hostess standing around looking bored. read more

We tried Skillet on a busy Sunday and had a very short wait. Any amount of time would be worth the wait! Our server,Kendall, was friendly and attentive. She made great recommendations and the food arrived perfectly. We tried the beignets, crème brûlée French toast, the 731, and the brisket. Everything was so amazing. First off the decor and the vibe of the place is the first thing you will notice walking in. It's gorgeous on the inside and everything is unique to each room. My partner and I went there and sat in the bar and it was amazing! Bartender was phenomenal she even talked with us about tattoos and where she gets hers done at. The lobster deviled eggs 10/10 must try!! I got the chicken and waffles which were and my boyfriend got the King Bennie which was absolutely divine!! We came to Jackson to drop our daughter off for her sophomore year of school. We hadn't done any research into eateries within the area. We ended up at Cracker Barrel, which was not up to our standards. But, it was Cracker Barrel! My daughter said no Mom, there is a place called Skillet Junction not too far from the school, we have to go there. I am so glad that we did. The food was excellent!!! The ambience, is cozy, but spacious. The drinks are phenomenal and service was great. Toya was our server, and very helpful in the choices we made for our entree's. We ordered chicken and waffles, veggie omelette, Lux quesadilla, and a side of crème brûlée French toast. Chefs kiss. Chicken was lightly fried crispy and seasoned. The French toast had a sugary crust around it, and it melted in your mouth. The waffle taste like butter. Omelette was cooked a little hard to my liking. However, that was not the cooks fault because I didn't specify how I wanted my eggs cooked. The quesadilla had a mixture of veggies along with your choice of meat, salsa, sour cream, and aïoli sauce. No complaints, 10 out of 10. It is a black family owned establishment, and the family works in the establishment together. We LOVED IT!!! Oh, I forgot the drinks. We had the Strawberry Henna Rita , the Bourbon Peach lemonade, and the Sunshine . Go to Jackson, and try them out. You won't be disappointed. read more

No sign outside that says 'Skillet Junction' The food was overpriced, but it was good. Several of the menu options did not make sense. For example, the omelet was served with mixed greens and chips (it said fries on the menu, but when my husband ordered the waitress let us know it was chips). He said the omelet was good, but small and the chips were very bland. We asked if he could sub either of the sides and our waitress said no. The pancakes are identical to Cracker Barrel pancakes but smaller. If we had not of gotten an appetizer, neither of us would have gotten full. Our waitress was nice but overall the service was slow and we would go long periods of time without seeing her. We were quoted 15-25 minutes wait time and it was more like 35 and an additional 7 minutes before the waitress even came to our table. ALSO, there's a 3% card fee which quite frankly should be on the business but they put it on the customer. read more

Beautiful Atmosphere, Flavorful Food. SJ has been open for 3 weekends. The service is consistent. The wait may be a little long at the moment but it's worth it. Jackson doesn't have many brunch spots so this is a welcomed change. My group of 9 had a great time. The favorites at the table were the beignets, biscuits & boozy jam flight, mimosa flight, shrimp and grits, wings, and the skillet junction. We talked with management and asked that they switch up the waffle on the chicken waffle and they said they'll talk to the chef . I personally think it should be a softer, less sweet waffle. From the time you enter the beautiful historic home turned restaurant, you are welcomed and smell the delicious food. Just a few pictures got taken before my family dove in. The Boozy Biscuits are out of this world- they should seriously bottle this sell! The Chicken 'N Waffles was amazing too, peppery spice with sweet maple syrup. Last but not pictured, the Shrimp And Grits- DELICIOUS! Our waitress Sara was sweet as can be and made our breakfast feel like we were invited over by friends. Skillet Junction is a delicious black owned restaurant in Jackson, TN that is worth the wait! Go with people you love and fellowship while they make their food fresh and hot to order. I was thankful that they had really good vegetarian & pescatarian options for me . My favorite were the lobster deviled eggs. I'm going back just to order them. Other items worth mentioning from the table are the chicken wings, florentine Benedict, beignets and chicken and waffles. You cannot go wrong with what you order. On top of that , we were able to meet the owners of the restaurant and their family. They are such wonderful people that have a serious passion about food and delivering great service to the people of Jackson. Their energy that they curate in this space is one of family & enjoyment . Our server Tre was a delight. He was attentive and provided great drinks. The black panther drink was tasty. I say all this to say, it was so delicious we forgot to take pictures of the food. Our visit started not too well. The hostess was rude and refused to entertain our questions. She told us the wait was long to deter us from staying. We decided to sit at the bar to wait. Once we decided to stay in the bar area, waiting for others became no wait time. In the bar area, there were two tables; we sat on one of them. This is where our visit turned positive. The ambiance is relaxed, quaint, and pretty. Tre, the mixologist, brought us menus and changed our day to one of the most memorable brunches in recent months. The brunch featured his signature cocktails, and we tried a few of them, and they were out of this world. The black panther, tropical mimosa, and Bloody Mary were best-mixed drinks. The food was great too! French toast, avocado toast, home fries, bread pudding, and beignets were spot-on and delicious. The crawfish omelet was flavorful but had only two pieces of crawfish. The service was excellent. The staff all worked together. The hostess refused to share the guest's password upon request. But Tre was the star of our visit who explained the menu and drinks and was always there giving attention to everyone. read more

After two visits here I have to say we have found our new favorite place. Not only was the food truly exceptional, the staff was most definitely worthy of praise. WORST restaurant experience ever. Rude staff that accused me of cussing out the waitress, when I nicely said my order was wrong. (So then that waitress went back and told the manager I cussed her out, which I would never do.) So then I had the manager coming up to our table, causing a scene saying that I cussed out her waitress. Left a $20 bill on the table for alcohol and left, and then had all of the staff members CHASE us outside saying we didn't pay. THEN they asked my friend what the "drama" was between her and another staff member. Very unprofessional. Not everyone can be pretty and honest. To our waitress, I hope you find happiness in life. i had heard wonderful things about this restaurant, so we decided to try it out. Loved that it's in an old hotel. Liked the decor. However, waitress was rude and not helpful. I asked about their morning adult drink menu since it wasn't listed on menu we were given. (Saw it on their website.). She just looked at me. Didn't offer to tell us how to order one. We order water, coffee and orange juice. Order our meals when she came back with our drinks. Meals came. Food was great. Waitress never came back to check if we needed more coffee or water. Just dropped off bill. We did go have a drink in the bar. Tre was great! Showed us how to order the drinks. Told a little of the history of the building. We will give it another try because of the food. Just hope we get better wait staff. read more

We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they weren't busy, all of the servers we saw were either on their phone or talking.
