This years Easter buffet was better than last years. The catfish was excellent. On the buffet the had Lamb (Wife's favorite) The did have sterno cup problems, but I think they got a faulty batch cause heard guy say they were all brand new. We reserved a room at the Doubletree Hotel in Jackson because of Twist. Twist was known for its wonderful Sunday Brunch. The brunch was so good and well known that people would stop on this exit while traveling between Nashville and Memphis just to get the brunch. When we checked in we immediately asked about the brunch and was told they stopped the brunch after COVID. We were shocked! However, Twist now has the Ultimate Breakfast Buffet that seemed to be a reasonable alternative. We went to the buffet and it was just okay. The server was nice, but service was just okay. The four of us ate small plates, but no one went back for seconds. We ordered omelets but all 4 of our orders came out incorrectly. I seriously wonder why this Mother's Day brunch was even recommended on line. The draw for my husband and myself ( mother, grandma and great grandma) was the prime rib. Who enjoys well done prime rib? For the $28 price per person we could have gone to Rafferty's and had medium rare prime rib. I had a chicken wing that was good, since those were the only chicken pieces available. The mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese were both cold. The shrimp was mealy, mushy. Did not have an omelet, I can make an awesome one at home or go to I Hop. Will not ever go back to this establishment. I am thoroughly disappointed. It is expensive to go out to eat and when you get crap it's just throwing your hard earned money away. We are on a fixed income and going out to eat is an expense highly weighed. read more

Terrible food - absolutely inedible and everything was sent back. Service was poor. There was a manager walking around while I waited to be seated for a full 5 minutes in an empty restaurant. I ordered my meal, appetizer and sandwich. The supervisor delivered them both at the same time, said oh I didn't know which you wanted first, giggled, put them both down and walked away. Really??? Pleasant surprise. They initially said they had no vegetarian options. I ordered the fried green tomato but hold the bacon and it was great. We didn't really wanna leave the hotel to get food and thought awesome... we will just eat here... wrong. Waited to be seated for 3 min before a customer finally told us that we could just pick where we wanted to sit. Wife ordered a Diet Coke and we are pretty sure there was Jack Daniels added. Our son ordered milk and it was spoiled and expired. The menus were a piece of paper with very minimal items to choose from. We decided to leave and I walked up to the bar to pay for the drinks and was able to see a pizza ( what we were gonna order) and it seriously looked like a Jacks frozen pizza. The restaurant/bar staff was thoughtful and polite. The bar staff was friendly and warm. The food was really exceptional for a hotel restaurant. I had 2 great dinners. The catfish was good. The Cajun Pasta was really great. The salads were fresh and delicious. And the Bread Pudding was very good. (Although I can't imagine why they call it "Cheesecake Bread Pudding". It is just plain bread pudding. Good but not cheesecake like in any way.) And a $9 breakfast buffet with made-to order omelets/eggs is a bargain in most hotels. read more

From someone who recently retired from traveling sales, as with the advent of the "free breakfast " , which killed most hotel restaurants, this one is a pleasant exception! From the friendly staff, above average coffe, and fresh food on the buffet, an excellent value for the price. The fruit is ripe, the eggs cooked well, and yes, can be cooked to order at no additional charge! Fresh breads, juice, and pastries. Room service for dinner was prompt and the food arrived warm. Club sandwich was very good, although I prefer sour dough to pumpernickel, and the beer battered onion rings were outstanding! Leaving before lunch, but will try next time through Jackson. read more

My family of four was visiting Jackson and stayed at the Doubletree Hotel, where Twist is located. We ate here about a year ago on a previous visit and were so disappointed, we walked out, vowing never to return. However, since we were in a hurry, we decided to eat an early dinner (5:00 PM) at the hotel and then leave for our affair. It was a major mistake. I was very disappointed with the slow service and lack of professionalism of the restaurant. The hostess was not consistently at the front desk. Several times, we observed her sitting at a table with the servers checking their cell phones. The loud house phone rang unanswered at the host stand. Other times, the servers and GSRs congregated at the host stand. Even though we were the only ones in the restaurant, our surly server, Tiara, waited 5 minutes to greet us and our initial, non-alcoholic drinks were served 15 minutes after ordering. Two club sodas were delayed because, in the words of another server, the limes had to be cut. This spoke to the lack of service prep in the kitchen or bar. We asked the server for grilled chicken instead of the Twist Pasta (served with grilled chicken) and she said that it was not available. We asked if we could get Twisted Chicken Pasta with no topping, noodles or sauce and she agreed. Our entrees took another 40 minutes to be served. We asked for a manager and she spoke to us 10 minutes later. Our meats were not hot but the vegetables were at the proper temperature. My steak was overly seasoned and fatty. It was hard to cut and too chewy for medium rare. I also had to scrape off the pepper seasoning or it would have been inedible. Had I the time, I would have sent it back. We are regular guests at Hilton Hotels and even have reservations for future stays at this Doubletree Hotel. However, this is not the type of service we expect from a Hilton property. We surely will not be eating dinner at this restaurant again. read more

Was here for a meeting a meeting so I decided to eat lunch here and it was really good. The service was even better. The prices were average for hotel restaurant prices. It's not like me to not look at reviews before I eat at a new place but I didn't this time. I am really glad that I didn't because I would have missed out on some good food and even better service. read more

Was too tired to go anywhere outside the hotel and decided to try the restaurant. Should have known when I walked I that I was in for trouble. It was prime dining time and there wasn't a sole in there except for one person at the bar. Decided to get my order to go so I could go back to the room. Ordered the shrimp and grits. Got back to the room and it looked decent, but was I wrong. Shrimp was very bland and the grits where even more bland and undercooked, even crunchy. The bottom line is that this place only exists because it's in a hotel. End of story. I ordered the skillet, which was teeny-tiny and was not in a skillet. The cooks did add cheese per my request (why it isn't in there to begin with I'm not sure). The flavor was decent, but nothing to write home about. The biggest negative was the oatmeal my mother- and brother-in-law ordered. It was water with a bit of oatmeal in it. Completely gross and I didn't even have to eat it. The strange thing was that if you took the oatmeal off the buffet it was fine. But not this oatmeal. Beware, kids. No draft beer (sadface), but the staff was friendly and accommodating. I was staying at the Doubletree so I decided to have breakfast there. The buffet was 9 dollars. Should have looked closer. The breads were hard and stale and full of flies. The coffee was luke warm as were the juices. Everything was served in cruet pots and not very appetizing. Bacon and sausage lumped into the same pot and just sitting there in grease. The Twist Restaurant is one of those hidden places in Jackson. Their menu is nouveau southern, aka, a new twist on southern classics. The food is tasty, well presented, and not over priced. Their atmosphere is quiet and intimate. This is a place my wife and I like to go to talk and enjoy ourselves. I am a fan. If the food was slightly better and they were without the occasional faux pas, I would give them 5 stars. As it is, the food is very good and the service is better than most places in Jackson by a long shot. Blackened catfish wasn't great, rice overcooked, too much seasoning( and I like Cajun cooking!)

I came in for a late dinner around 8pm. I ordered an apple pie martini, fried green tomatoes, and Twisted fried chicken. The apple pie martini was a bit of a disappointment for $7. The amount of the actual beverage filled half of the martini glass while the other half was whipped cream. The concept was delicious but quantity seemed better suited for a tall shot glass and left me unhappy considering the price. The fried green tomatoes were great. The tomatoes were served with a sweet red pepper coulis and goat cheese. Well prepared and not overcooked/dried out, the flavors of the green tomato (or what I imagine to be a tomatillo) was not lost in the fried batter but was well complimented with the slight acidity from the goat cheese. Worthy of the recommendation from my server, Victoria. She was a great host and was very timely about getting my food to me quickly. The twisted chicken was well cooked; although, the honey mustard sauce added a sweetness that I would advise against. The melted cheddar, bacon, and sauteed green beans made the overall dish a bit salty for my taste. Overall, good service and pretty good food. read more
