Old worn down family restaurant with great service. The food is limited on the dinner menu to a small selections of steak,grilled chicken, pork chops ect. A ribeye meal with a baked potato, salad, toast, and a drink was 22$. The steak is obviously a lower cut of meat but was well seasoned, and for the price you can't get much better. read more

This is actually 2 restaurants: a plate lunch restaurant at lunch and a steak restaurant in the evening. We picked up on a recent evening (8/10/2020). We ordered the ribeye dinner. We were there a little early and observed them cleaning prior to opening. It is a small restaurant with maybe 25 tables. It appeared they used about 12 or so tables. This night we ordered takeout. The 10oz ribeye with a baked potato was selected. It was tender and was easily cut with a knife. The steak was around 16.00. There are other option like grilled shrimp, grilled chicken, chopped steak, and sirloin. Its not an attractive place. It is small and even smaller with 50% occupancy rule. There is no alcohol. They are open for steaks Monday thru Saturday 5pm to 9pm. read more

If your a meat and potatoes kind of guy/lady then this is your go to place in Jackson. Hand cut meat, fast service it only takes as long as it takes to cook your steak how you like it. I got the 12 oz ribeye and left mushrooms and onions and potatoes on my plate. Thought I wasn't gonna finish my steak but I did. I already ate half of My salad before taking the picture. I have lived in many towns and cities in my life, and one of the consistencies of these experiences has been that locally owned restaurants quite often outdo the big chains in terms of quality of food and service. The Dixie Castle is no exception. This diner is as no-frills as it gets, and the food is just down-home good. They are open for lunch from 11 to 2, and for supper from 5 to 9. They have the typical range of diner menu items, including very fine cheeseburgers (and crinkle-cut fries, my favorite). But their plate lunches are excellent (best cornbread ever)! At night they have what they long ago became known for - steaks, wonderful steaks. Again, nothing fancy, here, just a simple dinner salad, steak, baked potato or fries, and a slice of Texas toast. But, oh, those steaks - perfectly seasoned and perfectly prepared! And all brought to you by waitresses who are as friendly as you'd find anywhere. Highly recommended! read more

What a fun experience while visiting Jackson. It's an iconic hole in the wall, no frills joint with good meals at reasonable prices. The food is well-prepared and delicious for what it is (cheap steaks, burgers, potatoes, salad). Dixie Castle has been around since the Stone Age... I remember coming here as a small child with my grandparents and parents so they could get some good ole southern food if they didn't want to make it themselves. On my latest visit home, my mom insisted this be where we dine on my Friday night here. We went around 6pm because this place gets crowded quick. That was immediately noticed because about 15 minutes after arrival there was a line out the door. We sat by the door since there were no other tables available in the small establishment. There was 5 of us in all with my parents, grandmother and my best friend. All of us ordered the steak or chicken which comes with a roll, and baked potato with the works if desired. I got the steak and ordered it medium rare. My mom and step dad looked at me in disgust -- they ordered theirs medium well. Southerners apparently don't like steak medium rare... or at least my family members... I didn't get to converse too much with my family since every time we would start a conversation, someone new would walk in the door that they knew and would linger around our table for 5 to 10 minutes at time having small chat. We were here about an hour.... in total 7 people walked over. That's the kind of expectation you should have for Dixie Castle. Everyone knows everyone, and this is a family oriented place from the servers to the patrons. I enjoyed visiting here again. I would say it has been at least 9 or 10 years since my last visit. I enjoyed the food and the company despite not getting to interact much. Nonetheless, good food and a good time. read more

Dixie Castle is my favorite place for steaks. The steaks are cooked perfectly and they come with a salad and your choice of potatoes. The atmosphere is kinda down home diner feel to it. Still, I would recommend this place to anyone who loves a great steak. read more
