The service was good but the food was average at best and overpriced. We ordered a variety of dishes and they were all disappointing. They steaks were ordered medium rare and they were brought out almost raw. The trout that was ordered was overcooked and absent of moisture and flavor. My son ordered the Mac and cheese. There was very little cheese and it was essentially flavorless. Perhaps they were having an off nigh, but the food was terrible and not with the prices they were charging. On a side note. The light above our table was flickering so badly we felt as if we were at a concert. We eventually had to stand on a chair to unscrew the bulb so we would not become dizzy. I had the filet which was cooked to perfection. Very tender and tasty. My husband ordered the gumbo, but it was a little too spicy for his taste. The mac'n cheese and the brussel sprout hash were both delicious. Service was good. The decor was fun! read more

The service here is excellent. My waitress Sarah was very attentive. I came in crazy thirsty, drinking a lot of water and she never let my glass get more than half empty before she refilled it. She was friendly and gave good advice about the menu and explained the live music set up and timing when I asked about it. As I moved here a couple of days ago and I'm living out of a hotel until my belongings arrive on a moving truck, and I'm eating a lot of food out. I could say before this restaurant I was a little disappointed in the food I was trying at restaurants that had been rated five stars on yelp. For example, and it didn't happen at this restaurant, I had a Cobb salad the night before that relied on gobs of cheese to please, which shouldn't even be on a cob salad. But enough, groaning and moaning, and back to this restaurant. I love seafood, and I got the seafood appetizer platter. It was really good and I was quite satisfied. I started eating it and I thought now this is what I've been hoping for in a Jackson dining experience rated with high stars on yelp. I dont usually write reviews so Im sorry if this isn't the right way. This was my first trip here. I was not impressed. The hostess was never at her station for more than 2 min. And would disappear leaving people waiting at the door for 10-15 min to "find a table" then proceed to the next party and do the same thing. Seemed offended to need to bus a table for a couple. There were NO bus people working at all for a busy Saturday. Service was slow 15 min and our waitress had not even greeted us. Finally came and took our drink order and went to get drinks and said she would be right back to get our appetizer order since we didn't have menus until then, she was gone another 20 min. Dinner was served with no silverware and had to wait on her eventual return to get any. Food was good, a bit bland for my son and I, we shared a plate since the waitress didn't put in my sons dinner order at all just his side dish. Came here one night on a Friday. I was surprised to see that it was so dead. They had someone playing live music however there were only like three tables listening. The music was very good and the musician was very talented. The service was not that great. I was able to see why maybe the restaurant was a little dead. however it looks very nice. The area seems safe and the food was good. The chicken was juicy and had good flavor and so did the burger. I think the price was decent for the food. I think they are trying to deliver more with this restaurant however, the employees are lacking. The front desk host seemed to be very bothered that we were there, after we waited for about 10 minutes for her to even show up at the front door. I think I have. Reviewed the blacksmith before, but we've been there several Times Now and we have always had a fantastic experience. They're one of the few places in town where I can find Escargot. Which they do very, very well. They have several gluten free options on the menu which helps my girlfriend make. Fantastic espresso martinis. I've always had great service. I wish I could remember the name of my waiter. I've had him twice now. And he is so funny, hysterical but very respectful. We always look for him when we go there. Couple of times we've been they've had live entertainment which really helps. The way the place looks and feels, it just feels great. The ambiance is fantastic. It's very easy to find. They have a fantastic patio which I've walked out to but I have not eaten out there yet. Warm in the winter, cool in the summer. The bar is fantastic. I just recently dealt with a manager ordering a full carrot cake for my girlfriend's birthday 'cause it's her favorite cake. And she wanted it specifically from Blacksmith. We were seated promptly by a very nice gentleman who was the bartender. Place is very cozy and we decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful day. My wife and I both had cheeseburgers which were pretty tasty and french fries were fantastic. Two things that made me give a 4 rating was that i could not have my burger medium rare and had to have it medium which I don't enjoy as much as i like a lot of pink in my beef. Located in a growing downtown, the interior is warm and friendly, the service from the wait staff is fantastic and relatively fast, and the food is always hot (and incredibly delicious!). Have eaten there many times, never disappointed. The staff is welcoming and attentive. I use a walker and they always ask if I want to use it instead of a chair, which is very kind. And the food - ah! No matter what I get, it's delicious! It's hard to try something new because what I had before was so good! I remember that the building once housed a fish sale business. Outdoor seating on a great day. Service was fantastic. The ribeye I had was meh. I did like the ceasar salad and the iced tea.

The food was so good. I've never had a pork Ribeye till today and it was so good and had so much flavor. My husband fillet was very good as well very flavorful the broccolini was so soft and delicious as well. The chips are homemade and the chipotle ranch is so good that comes with them. We got strawberry cake to go and it doesn't taste like most strawberry cakes do it is very soft and not over powering and very fluffy!! The Service do not even get me started!!! The service was great and the young lady who waited on us was very sweet and patient with us since it was our first time and always checked on us to see if we needed anything. We had no service after being seated for over 25 minutes. No one came to our table despite passing by and noticing we only had menus. After inquiring about a server the young lady who seated us asked if anyone had served us. She said "I'll send someone over". That person never came. We decided after 45 minutes of no service - not even water- we left. Totally unacceptable. read more

We met with the grill cook whos name was Blake he cooked our food excellent I was very impressed and will definitely return.

We had a decent meal, very fairly priced. The greeter was a bit brusque and having recently had surgery, hard to follow through the restaurant. Maybe it was a particularly busy day because most of the staff appeared rushed. I was a little surprised to find basically a canned pineapple ring on my chicken sandwich instead of "grilled pineapple ". The fried green tomatoes were passable but a bit tasteless. After about 40 minutes we were still sitting there, freezing, and finally decided to just order two desserts. When they came, they tasted freezer-burned and oddly like hot dog water. I initially got my ahi tuna salad but then had to ask for my gumbo on the next visit from the waitress. The most complicated thing we ordered was a burger and a baked potato. We had a pretzel, salad, soup otherwise so I can't imagine what took as long as it did. The gumbo was good. It seemed like everyone in Jackson was here! There was live music outside, bustling service going on... This place has an amazing history, is super busy, and provides great food and excellent service. The people we met were very welcoming and proved what a small world this really is... having lived all over the nation, we run into people everywhere with whom we've shared experiences.
