This little spot was good. It was located on the same parking lot as our hotel, La Quinta. We "walked" over, no lines. Sat down & were greeted promptly by the waitress. This place is good when you are craving an omelette with some biscuits and a pancake. Loved the omelette but I wish I could say the same about my chicken fried steak and eggs. We went to Skillets for the first time. It was a big filling breakfast. The eggs were decent. I think the biscuits were the most impressive thing - they were so fluffy. I was a little disappointed with the pancakes. The color was perfect but they were a little denser and chewier. My husbands omelet looked really good though . The skillets food is very homie. Like an IHOP's second cousin. I've been twice with my husband and once with my mother and all three time I was not disappointed by the food. The bacon is perfectly crisp. The toast is buttered on a whole other level. And you can tell the over easy eggs are always made with love!! Now for the reason the skillet earns two out of five stars is because the service! All three times my service has been beyond upsettingly terrible!!!!! You only have interaction with your waitress when she asks for your drink and food order and then once more when she's is bringing your order out (a billion years later). Other then that you are not checked on what so other. And when you stop them to ask for their service the attitude you receive in return is crazy shady. This will be a short review. Good service, good food. Exactly as ordered and on time. I had 2eggs and bacon. I always order over medium - which does take some skill. The eggs were perfect and the bacon was thick and tasty. Not too many people in here at 8:30 in the morning.. maybe it was a slow morning. They were pleasant and attentive. This place is nothing fancy but they get you in fast and have great service! It takes a while to get your food but overall it is adequate. I had pecan pancakes, eggs, bacon sausage. The food is always good, the service is always friendly and spot on. When it gets busy, the services a little slower but I am very picky in restaurants and it's not enough for me to cause a big deal. My only complaint is the price and adds up for every tiny little thing you do to your food so couple tacos apiece somehow ended up being about $26. read more

Chose this restaurant since it was next door to our motel. I'm bumping the rating up to four stars the service. The food was good and my wife really enjoyed the vegetarian omelette. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and side meats. Good but nothing exceptional. But the service really did make a difference. There was a slight mistake on my wife's order which was corrected immediately. The coffee was hot and abundant. We beat the breakfast rush and it got increasingly crowded as the morning progressed. I had the breakfast tacos, which are big, puffy, delightful overstuffed masses of fluffy scrambled eggs and hash browns on flour tortilla which tasted housemade. First the service was horrible the waitress we had showed favoritism toward other customers. My wife food was bad the eggs had way too much grease in them. The sausages tasted as if they were freezer burned. We were given straws and creamers that were clearly from a previous table because the straw was chewed on and the creamers were warm. Finally when we went to pay the person behind the register was too busy joking with other employees to acknowledge my presents. Let me tell you, all these years Skillets was here, we left out. We got to the entrance of the restaurant and it looked a bit outdated, which was ok with us. The server really only came to our table to bring us the menu, food, and the drinks which was weird cause all the other waiters did the same thing. I thought the waiter should've at least checked up on us every once in a while because this place was a restaurant after all, but they didn't. I had already read reviews about the place not having good service. I'd say it was decent. I had ordered the strawberry pancakes and wow, just wow. They were so good! I couldn't believe the taste of them. They were amazing! I'd recommend you trying them. These pancakes are going to be the closest to Ihop here in this small town.
