They assessed storm-damaged giant trees near the house, safely removed the truly sick trees, and left not a twig behind. The cleanup was so meticulous, it looked like the trees removed themselves and tiptoed away quietly. Their respect for our home and property was unwavering by protecting the ground, our driveway, and nearby plantings with care. They didn't just do what they said they would, they exceeded it. We had the unfortunate experience of a large tree falling onto our house damaging the roof. We called Skillen Tree and Mike was able to come out within 2 hours to assess the damage. He was back at our house the very next morning (Sunday) and removed the tree with his huge "monster" crane. Once the tree was removed, he placed a large tarp over the hole in the roof to protect the house from rain damage. Mike explained what the insurance company typically covers and advised us on other trees on our property.We took his advice and had him remove 5 large and 2 smaller trees. He even gave me ideas of what type of trees to put in their place.He and his crew are all exceptional to work with. All very pleasant and professional. While Mike was cutting the trees the crew was feeding the logs into the grinder. They were sweeping and cleaning up constantly. My garden is in its infancy and amazingly, they did not damage any of my plants. When the job was completed, my yard looked like they hadn't even been there. I can't say enough good things about Mike, his staff and his wife ("boss" ) Brooke. I continually sing their praises to everyone I know.They're a great group to work with! read more

An awesome, first class experience. We had two dead trees presenting challenges. One was a huge maple on the banks of the lake we abut. The other was a sweet gum that had been reduced to a rotted tall pole that could have fallen onto two nearby structures. Skillen sent two very strong and capable guys, Nick Schadig and Evan Daniel. Nick climbed both trees and took them down perfectly. No branch of the maple dropped into the lake. I could hear the gum falling apart as he climbed it but, again, with amazing skill and precision he brought it down. Furthermore, the two men carried all of the logs and branches, even of the big maple, out of the yard by hand or cart with soft wheels so no machinery damaged the yard. (There was no way to easily get machinery near the trees.) The entire operation was elegant! read more

I could not recommend Skillin Tree Care more highly! The crew was highly professional, friendly, accommodating, and Ron, in particular, had a great smile and sense of humor, which made the experience delightful! They removed a very large fallen Maple and took down a smaller one, along with a stump grinding, with care and expert control of their complex machines! My husband and I really appreciated their crew's willingness to cut up pieces of the maple tree into perfect firewood gratis, though we sent extra money to help this wonderful local company! We will be recommending Skillin to friends for sure! They also treated some shrubs that were in front of windows to slow their growth and still, their estimate for the package was quite reasonable. Skillin Tree Care did an excellent job removing a large tree located in a hazardous place in my yard. There was no room for mishaps as my and my neighbor's roofs were in jeopardy. I had thought I would be nervous during the process, but instead I was fascinated! Mike has the best equipment and knows how to use it. I needed some tree trimming and, also, the removal of a large maple very close to my house and deck. Skillin's crew was right on time, they were friendly, professional, and very careful that no limbs or trunks would fall on the house or deck. They were meticulous with clean up, carrying off all large pieces and blowing all small debris off the road, driveway, and sidewalk. Mike and crew transformed a large maple tree in our backyard into a habitat pole. The large cut branches were lowered to the ground to avoid damaging other trees. As a bonus some wood was cut to length and left for firewood. They also did an excellent final clean up! They did an great job and we'll use Skillin Tree Care again for any future tree work.
