I came to Amie when I had an aggravated neck nerve that was causing arm and hand pain. I've had physical therapy for past problems (knee), but this time when my neurosurgeon prescribed PT, I researched PTs in Evanston. I settled on Skillz PT because it's a small shop and you get very personalized work, unlike big PT organizations where you're just one patient in one shop. Also, the reviews were great. Aime did a thorough review of my arm and neck capabilities and then went over with me what her recommendations were and why and also how we'd know I was making progress. (Like how much could I twist my neck.) She taught me a regimen of stretches and strength exercises, and sure enough, my pain became milder and much less frequent, to the point where it's gone. It's been months since I completed PT and I've kept up the exercises and unless I skip a few days of work, I don't even get a twinge. Much prefer this to waking up in the middle of the night with pain. So I can only agree with the other positive reviews I've seen of Aime and her tech Rachelle. The shop is always very clean, I see people disinfecting machines and equipment as soon as someone finishes using it, and there are just little nice touches like free bottles of water, coffee and tea, and even chocolates and health cookies. Aime keeps her eyes on you as you work and corrects mistakes, which I much appreciate. To people skeptical about physical therapy or who've had past bad experiences, I"d recommend going in for an evaluation while keeping an open mind and seeing what your gut says and I think you might be pleasantly surprised. read more

I am an 81-year-old man who moved from Iowa City, IA, to Evanston, IL, in late August. During the process I injured my back to such an extent that I became walker-bound and barely able to move. I also became heavily dependent on pain killers, including Tylenol and Tramadol. The doctors at NorthshoreConnect recommended that I seek physical therapy. On the advice of my physical therapist back in Iowa, who helped me recover from a knee replacement, I began to look online at small, boutique, physical therapy services that had high social media recommendations. Skillz stood out. I went with them and have been extremely satisfied with their service. I no longer use a walker and am free of the pain killers I had been taking. I am striving, now, to return to my normal activity level which includes 2 or 3 miles of walking and a mile of swimming most days. I feel confident that the rigorous and careful attention I am receiving from Skillz, especially from Aime, will enable me to return soon to this level of activity. I cannot recommend Skillz Physical Therapy in Evanston enough. I came in with a left shoulder impingement that was also aggravating an old elbow injury, and after just a month of twice-weekly sessions, I've seen incredible improvement. My pain has decreased completely, my strength has increased, and I've regained full range of motion. I was nervous to return to physical therapy after some negative experiences in the past, but the team at Skillz completely changed my perspective. Aime, Kythera, and Richelle are amazing--they greet you by name and with a smile the moment you walk in, and they bring such a warm, empathetic, and knowledgeable approach to their care. I've been going to Skillz Physical Therapy for the past two months for my hamstring, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better team. I had gone to another PT before I came to Skillz. I had several session in the other place. Instead of getting better I felt misserable. Last weekend was in so much painful. On Monday I came to tell the chiropractor that I didn't want to continue with them. On Tuesday was my first session with Aime at Skillz. Oh my God, it feel so good everything, she díd to my leg and knee. She showed me some exersices to strenth my knee them gave me a massage to my leg, then she did some others treatments. Oh my God, the next Day. The pain was gone. I cannot belived it. I call them to thank Aime. She is very acertive. When Aime did the evaluation she told me that the pain I have in my knee was noting related with the osteoartritis. Aime is an Angel that God sent to me. God blessed her and the team. A doctor first recommended Skillz to help manage my hip pain after learning I needed a hip replacement. On day 1, the staff was friendly and welcoming. They greet all clients by their first name. The facility, as well as the equipment, are well maintained and clean. Aimee explained the exercises, various modalities, and their benefits. The PT certainly helped and gave me the additional time I needed to explore my options. Because of my initial experience, I returned to Skillz after my hip surgery. Aime is an exceptional physical therapist. I went to her for knee replacement rehab and vestibular therapy. She excelled at both! I was at a "big box" PT place making very little progress and in a lot of pain. Aime put me at ease right away. She did a thorough assessment, went over my goals and we made a plan. She was patient yet encouraging. She uses multiple modalities to recover strength and range of motion and provides an easy-to-use app for at-home exercises. Plus, she varied the exercises so I did not get bored. She is a great cheerleader and I'm happy to report that I am back to pre-surgery activity levels.
