This "spa" gives a very questionable impression from the start. It's dingy location is neither welcoming nor comforting. I had purchased a Living Social deal for a pumpkin peel facial valued at $180, which was to include "a pre-peel facial, an after-peel fruit mask, plus a $20 gift card for additional services." I called and spoke with the owner, Martha, to set up the appointment, then checked in with her when I arrived. It wasn't until she had me ready to go on the table that she told me she would not do the pumpkin peel facial without additional services. I told her I just wanted what I had already purchased. She insisted there was no point in doing the pumpkin peel facial without doing a facial first, to prepare the skin for the pumpkin peel treatment. My treatment was supposed to include a pre-peel facial anyhow, but she was very insistent and rather aggressive. I conceded, feeling uncomfortable about having to pay an additional and unanticipated $70 for this treatment. I thought I would at least get an exceptional experience for a service that originally was supposed to be valued at $180 plus the forced and additional $70 facial, but at the end, all I could think was, "for $250, this is it"? I was extremely disappointed. When I went to check out, I let Martha know I felt deceived about purchasing something when she expected the customers to pay for additional treatments and uncomfortable about having to pay more money. She became very aggressive, loud, and belligerent. She was unprofessional and made my entire experience, frankly, awful. I would not recommend this seedy and deceitful place to anyone. read more

I would give them 2 stars because they are a mom & pop and I think they deserve some benefit of the doubt but too many compounded problems. Unprofessionalism - 1) website is outdated that you can only request 1 service even though there are drop down menus for up to 2. 2) I was confirmed for an appointment. Upon my arrival, they asked if I could come back an hour later. Could they not have called me before I drove down from Brentwood? 3) After rescheduling above appointment, they call me the day before my appt to ask if I can come 45 min later (grant it, a logistical issue of being a parent & a business owner). 4) Services offered are not always what you get. Website offers an array but only some are available on certain days such as the manicurist only works on Fridays. Finally, I'm in the door and ready for my back purification. It was basic back facial (I should've asked what the service included ahead of time). During the entire treatment time, if I was not receiving a hands-on service at that moment, Martha left the room. She did not check to see if the mask used on my back was ok - it was actually burning as there were also 2 towels on top of the mask trapping in heat and anything escaping my pores. She stated the foot rehabilitation massage was good. I was robbed here. I can generate more force by walking on a tennis ball at home for FREE for a better foot massage. read more

Nataly and Martha are a mother and daughter team and do fantastic work. Rocio is the massage therapist and is all about healing and the focus is always on the client and making them feel better. Nataly takes her job very seriously and goes the extra mile for all her clients. She is a mine of information and she gets such Joy in helping her clients to achieve their goals. Nataly researches in her spare time to make sure she has all the facts and information that she needs to give the client the best possible service. She is goal-oriented and keeps her eye on that long-termgoal at all times. All three ladies are a pleasure with whom to interact; three ladies working hard and bringing fun into the environment and helping all clients to realize that the spa is the much-needed downtime that we all need. They put 100% of their effort and heart into allowing the client to de-tress and reconnect with themselves for the duration of the spa treatment. I recently purchased a Groupon for a '45 minute', 'body wrap'. After driving a half hour one way, I arrived at a run down building in a less than desirable area, already having doubts, I told myself not to "judge the book by the cover". Upon walking in 'she' was arguing with someone on the phone, I got the impression that she didn't want to give needed info to the person whom had called for important information. Then after a 30 minute sales pitch, to try & sell me what I thought I had already purchased. She took me into the BATHROOM & slapped small application on my stomach, which is what she called a 'body' wrap, then wrapped it in saran wrap & sent me on my way. It took a whole 5-10 minutes, not a spa experience. When I stated I purchased a body wrap, not an area contouring application, I was asked again if I wanted to buy the body wrap which is what the 30 min sales pitch was about. I did make the 2nd appt, since it is a 3 appt deal. She was 30 minutes late with no intention of contacting me to let me know she was running late. So here I wait for 30 minutes in a sketchy looking area. When she finally arrived, I questioned her again on the meaning of a body wrap. She said it was all clearly explained on their website, false, it told me less than Groupon did. That's when she started getting ugly about it, saying she didn't need my attitude, & how could I question her when all she does is good for people. Needless to say, I was very unhappy with my uncomfortably awkward 'spa bady wrap', & will not only never be returning, but will tell my friends how bad it was. I am giving one star only because the woman who runs this place was nice enough. First off, what she is selling on Groupon as a luxury, hour long, herbal detox wrap, is really the ItWorks product, a multilevel marketing product that has become rather big right now, however I have friends who distribute for them, could have had a party at my house and got the wrap for free. Also I am pretty sure it is against their regulations to use Groupon to sell, also no where on her website or Groupon did it say ItWorks, but I will be contacting them later today. Secondly, she literally took me to the bathroom, applied the wrap and sent me on my way...not the relaxing "hour long herbal wrap" experience that I had I visioned when I purchased this deal and proceeded to hire a babysitter for my 2 year old. All in all I feel totally ripped off. I will be contacting groupon as well as ItWorks and hopefully this scammer gets shut down. read more

First of all, don't trust the reviews here since they actually take $15 off at least for people who write a positive review. Here's my story: I purchased a gift card for my mom for $200 back in December of 2009. My mom went in and bought something a few months ago and asked how much was left on her card and they said $156. She called before she went in too because she was wanted to make sure they accepted gift cards after a year. The lady said, "oh yeah, that's not a problem at all." My mom went in today and got a $250 facial and when she was checking out, they told her there was NO MONEY at all left on the card. She argued with them, but finally paid it herself with money she really didn't have. I called them shortly after and they said they "found" her money in their system and would refund $56.50 to her debit card. I said it should be $156.50 and they said that after a year they subtract half of the gift card amount from the gift card. I couldn't believe they said that they took off half of the gift card amount after one year, which comes out to be $100 in this case!!! I was stunned! They wouldn't budge on the issue and just said that their policy is in their website. I told them that when someone gets a gift card, if you have a policy where money will be taken off, it should be written on the gift card or provided with it upon purchase. Who would expect someone to get online and read about it. I was talking with a woman on the phone and she kept talking over me and being extremely rude. I could hardly get a word in and finally SHE HUNG UP ON ME - This company has a major lack of integrity. Remember that my mom had even called to make sure it was okay that the gift card was over a year old and they said it was "fine, not a problem at all". Also, my mom brought in some canned goods for 20% off and they wouldn't take it off because she bought a package deal (yeah, a $250 rip-off facial package, but that's a whole other story!). They don't take two promotions at a time they said. They didn't even give her the cans back. I am just amazed at their lack of integrity. I have been here several times as well and they have messed up my gift card saying that I don't have any money left, soon to find out that I have $60 left on it (because I persisted). Please be careful with this company. I would suggest finding a better, more reputable company. Even the building looks shady. read more

please don't bother with this business, very depressing experience! I'm not sure why they are posting a Groupon for new customers, when they either don't want them or they resent them! I had 2 terrible experiences with this owner, and didn't even make it to the location or have the services. ... I can't think of a situation I would ever give them my money or suggest anyone I know gives them their money... Groupon refunded my purchase! THEY apologized for this business's behavior and had it taken care of in 5 minutes... My conversation with the owner of this business ended with an eery karma threat of "this will come back to you, not on us -- this I know"... (details below if you want to know more) I was immediately turned off with the owner's demeanor when I called to schedule my appointment. Honestly, I have never had a business (any type) treat me, as a paying customer, the way this owner did. I'm not sure she even understands what it means to appreciate a customer or work with a customer to make sure they are comfortable, let alone satisfied. I wish I could explain her tone... braisen, pompous, rude, dismissive and entitled... hopefully that gives you an idea... here's a quick breakdown -- when I called to make an appointment for the groupon I purchased, she asked for my credit card to hold on file without first explaining why... I tell her I'm not comfortable giving that, and her immediate reaction is "well then I can't make an appointment for you" ... hmm braisen... okay, I have already paid for the groupon, so I need to find a way to make this work... tried having a conversation about why I was uncomfortable, that I had already purchased the groupon and would be sure to keep my appointment. I can understand wanting to keep a business running smoothly, but you should have heard her very defensive response, "well I don't know what to tell you, if you don't trust us, we wouldn't want to have you as a customer anyway!"... I couldn't believe what I was hearing. There were no attempts to make me feel more comfortable, or work with me... I'm in complete shock! My 2nd experience was worse! After getting notified that my groupon was going to expire, I try again... this time, I have 2 weeks before it expires, but she can't get me in until 2 days after that. I'm not thinking this is a big thing -- she'll definitely work with me to make sure I can use my groupon right? ... no, absolutely not. Both of these conversations are not more than five minutes... and multiple times, I've heard, "nope, there's nothing I can do", "this is how we do business, if you don't like it, you don't have to come", "it's not my fault you didn't take care of this sooner..." --- It's 2 weeks before this expires and all she can do is give me store credit for the amount I paid (which doesn't even cover 1 treatment, let alone the 3 that the groupon covered). Purchased a Groupon for lash extensions. In my numerous attempts to make an appointment I was never able to. The website does not show available appointments like majority of scheduling sites but instead ask for your preferred time. During my experience, my preferred time was booked and I received a email giving me an alternative time. Unfortunately, I am not at the beck and call of Skin and Beyond and could not make the alternative time. Today alone I called 6 times to make an appointment (since the website is faulty) and no answer. This business lacks a great amount of customer service. I have reported this business to Groupon and complained to Groupon for advertising a business of this kind. read more

This salon is on the Better Business Bureau as a CREDIT CARD SCAMMER!!(Update at the bottom- it gets worse) ZERO STARS (It won't let me give less than 1 but ZERO is my score) FOR POOR SERVICE, CREDIT CARD FRAUD!!! I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing a Groupon. I scheduled my appointment for eyelash extensions with a fill, 6 weeks in advance for an out-of-town event. This was a bad experience since the moment I purchased it. First: the appointment - I called and left messages TWICE a dayfor 7 business days, once in the AM, and once in the PM. I questioned if this business was closed, so I contacted Groupon by email (documented) on Sep 16 saying no one had called me back, and a representative at Groupon called them and made them call me back on Sept 17, when I made my appointment for Nov 1 and Nov 8, in anticipation of going out of town Nov 10. Second: getting there- it's a dump and the customer service reflects that. There's a one-way alley to park, and then there's other business with gravel parking lot with tow away signs and that's where you have to park. I walked in and there was no one to be seen so I sat and waited 15 min until a man came out and asked if anyone had seen me yet and offered me water. He went back in and came out 30 min after I had been sitting there and asked the same thing (still have not been greeted by anyone else) and left the building. 45 min after I arrived, another client arrived. 50 min after I arrived, someone came downstairs with a client and proceeded to the front desk to check her out. The lady behind the desk started chatting with the woman who came in after me, and she was telling her she had a 2:45 appointment. The lady behind the desk never looked at me, greeted me, nor asked if she could help me, or if I had an appointment. Third: the incompetence- I waited 10 min to see if I would be asked if I can be helped, and she never asked, so I spoke up and said, "Hi, I have a 2 o'clock appointment." She asked what my name was, and asked me to spell it. I told her, and she told me my appt was for Nov 8 and 15 at 10 am, and I told her that's impossible because I am going out of town on Nov 10 and needed my eyelashes done before that, and won't even be in town on Nov 15. She said "You're wrong, because we schedule out appointments 3 weeks in advance for people who regularly get their eyelashes done" to which I replied: "You remember I called twice a day for 7 business days, and no one called me back, and I had to get Groupon to contact you, and you called me after they contacted you, on Sept 17 and that's when I scheduled these appointments, which was 6 weeks ago?" I told her she clicked the wrong two weeks on two consecutive Tuesdays. She continued to say that her regular clients book three weeks in advance (which makes no common sense since I booked mine 6 weeks in advance and this is documented in an email with Groupon). She BASICALLY LIED because she was 45 min late and her next appointment was already there so she told me I didn't have an appointment even though I have the email from Groupon that my appointment issue was resolved. She said she could see me at 7 pm (I had driven over an hour to get there) and quite frankly, not only did I not have the time, I no longer trusted her with my eyes. Just like the other reviewers have said, it's a dingy place that doesn't deserve to be on Groupon. I contacted Groupon again and filed yet another complaint and they confirmed that they saved documentation from my first complaint about them. UPDATE: so after reading reviews here and in other places about this salon wrongfully charging credit cards even after cancelling appointments well in advance (they make you give your credit card number even if you have a Groupon or Living Social special), I called the salon and left a message to call me back to cancel an appointment. "Martha" who must be the mother of the rude girl I encountered who never spoke to me, started YELLING preaching to me, saying "If you are a Christian then you will understand that in life people run behind and it's not her fault you got your schedule wrong"- I cut her off right there and said, "I'm not getting into this with you, I just want to cancel my appointments and tell you NOT to charge my credit card" to which she didn't acknowledge that she would do both but continued her rant about being a Christian SCREAMING and hung up on me. I called back and told her, "DO NOT CHARGE my credit card or I will call the credit card company and report fraud and also the police" and she kept on screaming something about Christianity and never acknowledged that she would NOT charge my credit card. This woman is SERIOUSLY INSANE. Would you trust a person with a lack of mental stability and lack of professionalism with your SKIN AND HAIR???? My credit card company verified they have numerous complaints about credit card fraud from clients of this salon and thanked me for adding to their investigation. read more

This place was great, especially for a guy, the location seems a bit iffy on the outside (old building) but the spa is very nice and relaxing on the inside. It is a low traffic area, which is great for a guy like myself who doesn't want to run into people I know as I am getting spa services! I go there regularly and get waxing, body wraps, and facials and the results are always fantastic. Martha and Nathaly are very welcoming and courteous, and they know their stuff! I would highly recommend this spa to anyone who wants a true spa service with top of the line products instead of the usual commercial spa experience that franklin is flooded with. read more

Let me start off by saying that I truly enjoyed my experience at Skin and Beyond Day Spa. They did my eyelash extensions for my wedding and since I used a groupon it was very affordable and they turned out great - I am really picky. BUT I cannot recommend them. The owner is the rudest woman I have ever spoken with. I called to question a charge on my bank account that appeared 3 weeks after my service. The owner answered (I know it was not her daughter because she is extremely friendly and sweet) and without even asking me my name said "you had an appointment and you did not show." I responded with "well I didn't make an appointment and if I did you did not send me a reminder email or phone call". She claims she "sees the confirmation" but still did not know my name to even know who was calling. I agree with any and all reviews that say do not go here. I already called my bank to dispute the transaction. If you go there once, they apparently write down appointments for you and then charge you for "no shows". I have never missed a beauty appointment in my life and think this completely unacceptable. Several friends have appointments here because I raved about it and will now be cancelling due to lack of good customer service. read more
