Tattoo review One word: WOW Ryan Carr blew my expectations out the water. I got a piece for my grandparents who have both passed away now. I sent Ryan pictures of the 3 main pieces I wanted in my tattoo, along with 2 quotes. I was a tad worried about how these 3 pieces ( bull horn , hummingbird, fish ) would come together and make a tattoo that I would love. When I arrived Ryan was ready right away. He had drawn the 3 pieces individually he said , since this was a cover up tattoo. He adjusted some sizing etc and then I was shown his drawing. I instantly loved it. Literally could not have been happier with how he brought my idea together. I only requested that one quote be positioned to curve, literally everything about the tattoo was PERFECT. Ryan listened to my request to bring this piece to life, which was so important to me as I've waited YEARS to choose exactly what I wanted this tattoo to be. His details, placement, and style was perfect. He did my tattoo in one sitting and it took just about 2 hrs exactly. He was friendly and easy to talk too and the time flew by . He is light handed as well , which of course made it less painful! I would come back to Ryan without a doubt for any future tattoos. I've had other tattoos done from other locations, but Ryan's work doesn't compare, you can tell he is passionate about what he does. 15/10 would recommend him to anyone. read more

Jim did my very first tattoo and 5 years later I went to another shop and got my second. Big mistake on my part. My husband called Jim and told him I wanted to get the other artist work covered up and gave him my idea of what I actually wanted done. Jim gave me exactly what I wanted. He does amazing work and you would never know there is horrible work under his fantastic art. I've never had a worse experience. I heard good things about Megan, which is why I went there. I'm not sure the man who even worked with me WAS a piercer. He was irresponsible, stretching me up several gauges. Only later did google tell me how dangerous that was. He then put in an internally threaded piece and told me it would be a "piece of cake" to get out on my own; its currently stuck in my septum. He continued to make racist and sexist comments the whole time, then told us stories of his own rapid stretches for his piercings. It was like he was showing off with how much pain he could take, how fast he stretched up before even letting the new piercing heal. If that's how he felt about body mods, no wonder he was so cavalier with mine. I think one star is too much for this place. (Again, I heard great things about megan.) read more

This review is mainly for the Piercer. I'll touch on the shop itself a bit at the end... I went in to Skin Decor to talk to Joe Brazil about a Frenum piercing!! This guy is legit!! I was really nervous, but he's a true pro and the only "free-hand piercer" I've ever met. The experience was very good, and Joe was really informative about the entire process, as well as the aftercare. I highly recommend piercings from him. The shop itself was very clean, in a great location, and well lit (I hate those dark shady places). I'm very happy with the piercing, it was a bit pricey, but with this guy, its definitely worth it!!! read more

I went in to get a consult about a small tattoo simple and only about an inch tall and half an inch wide. After the consult I decided against this place. The man was rude and not really helpful. And on top of that he wanted to charge $120 for this tiny little piece. I will say, however, the studio looks super super clean. read more

My sister and I got work done here this past monday and the experience was great. The studio was clean and organized, the staff was friendly, helpful and very professional. My sister got a tattoo done by Ryan that turned out fantastic and she said that it was much better in terms of service and professionalism than the last place she went. While she was getting her tattoo I got second piercing on each of my earlobes as well as a conch piercing. Joe Brazil was very professional and thorough. He explained everything he was going to do and walked me through each piercing as he did it which helped put me (who is pretty terrified of needles) at ease. The placement was perfect and they are healing perfectly. I've had piercings done elsewhere and I will not go anywhere else in Fresno. I called one evening and asked if they had time to do a small tattoo. He said he would take a look at it and to drive over. I was there within 10-15 mins and the sign on the door said closed. I waved someone down inside, and he came out to say they're closed. I said, "we just talked on the phone and you told me to drive over here, so i drove all the way over here!" He just said, "sorry we closed, because we weren't busy." This was 45 minutes before their posted closing time. Well i'm guessing they weren't busy the next day seeing how they treat customers. Got my Navel pierced here and the guy did a really great job. I was really nervous because I usually have anxiety attacks with needles but the guy was super understanding and did everything he could to make me feel comfortable. I received my very first tattoo here and all I have to say is that do not EVER make an appointment with Ryan Carr. Got my first tattoo and it came out like a big hunk of shit. There is absolutely no detail at all and I can say I'm embarrassed of my tattoo from how bad it was done.. You would think seeing someone come in for their first tattoo you'd take careful attention and care, but nope! Not Ryan Carr he just butchers whatever it is you want and calls it a day. Guy shouldn't be working at that place let alone call himself An "artist" going to get the work he did covered up if possible or lasered off!
