Today I went back for my first check up after my skin cancer surgery. The two ladies at the front desk were extremely kind. Well mannered and polite. I sat in the waiting room. I WAITED 2 MINUTES then I was called in. Baily the young lady that took care of me was very kind. She educated me on my incision. How to care for it, how we will move forward from here. I was a patient of Dr. Keane for 30+ years. I have sensitive, eczema prone skin plus some auto-immune issues. After Dr. Keane's retirement I saw a couple of other providers at Skin, MD (who have since left) because of a terrible break-out on the palms of my hands and fingers. They prescribed a variety of corticosteroids and moisturizers with no success. Thankfully, I saw Paige Jonaitis and she immediately did a patch test and I found out what I was allergic to and was prescribed a biologic cream that actually worked for me! Thank you Paige! My hands are healed and I'm able to wear my wedding rings once again! read more

Medical practices should not demand credit cards to have on file if there is health insurance. Went to appointment today, previous patient from a couple of years ago, refused to see me without a credit card which I did not have with me. I have excellent health insurance and have never had a health practitioner demand a credit card to be seen. Terrible policy, rude desk staff and no exceptions to this rule. I can choose to see any doctor with my insurance, definitely won't choose this practice again! read more

Called twice for a cost estimate for my husband's cyst removal. I spoke at length at how the last dermatologist charged $250 for the sterilization of the medical tray, which out BC PPO insurance didn't cover because they don't cover medical devices. I said we would not be willing to incur that cost since a NIH study reports that it costs only $0.40-$0.79 to sterilize each instrument. The upchage is ridiculous. They assured me that if my insurance didn't cover the charge, they would reverse it, but now they are not. LIARS!!! And the front desk chic had the audacity to treat me as if I was trying to scam them. Well 3 of my family members were going there, but since I run the show, none will be returning. Since they had my husband's cc information due to co-pay, they charged his card for payment. They did this without warning, authorization, and without giving an itemized bill. Upon calling, they said they sent emails, but upon checking, they sent and email with a link to a portal they my husband doesn't have access to and no way to set up access was offered within email. And the email didn't come from them, it came from Patient Portal so there was no way to know it was SkinMD. And once the card was charged, we received an email for Medical Account Team. Both emails look shady and have no visible connection to SkinMD website. Not sure if this ineptness is on purpose, but it definitely isn't good business. Oh, and they hacked up my husband's back. He has had cysts removed before (about the same size) but this one is defiantly going to leave a bigger indented scar. I'd skip this place. read more

Where do I start... My doctor sold the practice in Willowbrook to skin md. Trying to get a checkup and use our flex spending account balances before year end so booked appointments for the family. Upon arrival we pay our $30 copays via credit card (since we forgot the FSA CARD) and I'm told they require me to keep my card on file. No doctors exist at this location only nurse practitioners to perform exams and minor procedures. If you want/need a doctor you've gotta travel to their location in the far south suburbs! A month after our visit my wife and daughter still haven't received pathology results and we've yet to receive a bill which is needed to pay with our FSA CARD. Suddenly I get a notification from my credit card company of 2 charges from skin md! I'm pissed because I intended to pay via my FSA CARD! I call to ask who gave them the authority to charge my credit card? Only to be informed that I CHOSE to be enrolled in auto pay and they auto charge your card 48hrs after the invoice goes in the mail! I never agreed to this and I never got an invoice ! I'm told that if I wanted to pay by FSA it was my responsibility to put that card on file! I explained that You need an invoice in order to pay by FSA and I've still never received one! I verified the charges with my insurance and let the matter go, but I've still never received an invoice and if they try to charge anything else to my credit card I'll dispute it. Absolutely terrible example of how a practice should run. My dad has been a patient there for a few years and needed a refill of an important medication he is on. He has called twice a day for the last week- no call back, no answer at all and unable to speak to anyone. He had a previously made appointment that was actually scheduled for today. When he finally did get a hold of someone after a week of trying, he was informed that the doctor he sees there does not work at the practice anymore and they would not refill his script as he needed to be seen by someone before refilling. How UNPROFESSIONAL. If the patient is not informed that their doctor has left the practice it is up to the staff to realize this and find someone for the patient to see. I am a nurse and work in an outpatient clinic- this would and should NEVER happen. Skin MD should be ashamed that this is how they treat their patients. I will not recommend this practice to any of my patients, let alone friends/ family. read more

I went to Skin MD and was seen by Dr Andrei Nesterovitch, MD. The rational for my visit was to get a complete skin check. Dr Nesterovitch entered the room and appeared rushed. He looked over my body and asked if there were any areas I was concerned about. I pointed out a few. He applied liquid nitrogen to a Actinic Keratosis on my lip. I expressed that he missed the leasion area and he suggested I come back in a few weeks. First, Patient's go to see a physican with the hopes they will be cared for in a manner to ensure a healthy furture. I felt looked over, not looked at! Second, Out of pocket costs are not cheep. Suggesting I come back because the area was missed is unacceptable. Do your Job, Doc!! If I requested the scrib notes of that visit, I wonder just how much of a report I would receive? How thorough of an exam did Dr Nesterovitch provide me? Did he care enough to provide a patient his time and expertise to ensure cancer prevention? No, he did not! read more

Update: Northwestern who worked on my face originally now reviewed the left side of my face today and they had to refer me out to a plastic surgeon who specializes with facial trauma. So I am using up my vacation time for this year to see facial plastic surgeons!! Not only is the left side of my face melted but I have large disfigured lumps underneath the skin. Nick destroyed my face in a matter of seconds! Beware! I don't want it to happen to anyone else. If you want to be permanently disfigured, this is the place for you. I went in for a simple smoothing of a tiny tiny line under my left eye and Nick took it upon himself to spray Cryotherapy on my entire cheek without my knowledge and my consent disfiguring the left side of my face. He indicated I asked for this (I was told you have to sign a waiver for Cryotherapy. If I wanted it, where was the waiver!!! Another lie). Why would I ask for something so invasive when I was going away for the weekend and then on vacation!!!! My co-workers were in shock when I walked in the office and saw the burns on my face knowing my journey in getting my face to the point where I wanted it. I truly believe that he confused me with another patient. One lie after another. First I was told I had basil cells on my face (without a skin biopsy then switched it to keratosis to save his ass from disfiguring my face) of which I spent 2 years of time and money on getting my face the way I wanted it through Northwestern. I'm 2.5 months in and my face has melted divots and discoloration (looks like Frankenstein with all the melted divots on my face) which was previously all most flawless. I was in a good place until this happened to me! Dr. Bielinski, I hold you accountable for this as you allow this type of negligence to happen in your office. I'm sure I'm not the only patient Nick did this to and I wouldn't be the last. Your poor follow-up was negligent. Not only did you not see the damage done to my face, you hid behind a telephone call asking well, what did other plastic surgeons tell you to do to fix what Nick did. You should be embarrassed of your medical ethics. I don't know how you can sleep at night knowing that your practice disfigured a patient. Take a good look at what he did to me and tell me you can sleep at night! Yes, I had to lawyer up for the expenses that it will take to fix this disfigurement. read more

Doctor Ginnetti and his assistant Jessica were fabulous. Virtually no waiting time. They are very professional and Doctor Ginnetti explained to me in detail what he found during his examination. I had concerns about chemicals in sun screen and Doctor Ginnetti is very knowledgeable in this area and explained to me what to look for in the products on the market. I had switched from another company that I did not feel comfortable with. Definitely will be returning to Skin MD. They referred me to get an ultrasound for a problem with my hip, then once I got the ultrasound they never called me back or returned my call from voicemails (nor do they pick up the phone). I have had the worst experience at this provider. Brittany at the front desk was exceptionally unhelpful. I bought a groupon for skin laser treatments. I showed up on time for my appointment. After waiting thirty (30) minutes for my appointment, no one from the staff checked in with me to give me an update. They said that the staff was with another patient. The could not interrupt the service. Eventually they figured out that it was a problem with the Lazer and they wanted me to wait another 45 minutes. I will never go here again. It took them 6 weeks to fit me in for the original appointment. Getting a refund was difficult as both I and the provider had to initiate the process. This place is not worth the headache. read more

I had an annual check up yesterday at 515p. I arrived at 5p however was not taken to the room until 520p. The doctor didn't come into the room until 550p for a 7 minute visit. I'm really struggling with the fact that patients are expected to be early but medical professionals have no similar expectations. I understand 15-20 minutes late but 35 minutes late is unacceptable. I'm not sure I'll be returning as patients time is just as valuable as medical professionals. read more

From the time I arrived until the time I left I felt a sense of trust and being valued. I admit as a male, I wasn't sure about seeing a female for this problem, Yes I am old fashion. The nurse and the nurse practitioner took great care to get a complete history of my skin issues. The Nurse Practitioner took her time to exam my area of concern and gave a complete explanation of my diagnoses. She explained everything in easy to understand terms, assured me that what I was experience was treatable. They gave me samples of items they suggested for me and called in my prescriptions. I was completely satisfied with my visit. I would rather see the Nurse Practitioner than the doctor I seen 6 years ago. read more

In addition I was asked for a credit card on file, which is no problem but it would be nice if they asked you and informed you before running the card. Hello, Well I wanted to take the time out to but up a review of my personal experience with skin MD. I had gotten a tattoo with my little brother and my Auntie name. They both passed away about 9 months apart, and they both meant the world to me. So I was really sad when my tattoo started to keloid. From my first visit everyone has been AMAZING!!!! Then I met Dr. Nick Birchers and 2 of his beautiful Assistants. Let's just say I feel like I've know them for years. NEVER trust a doctors office who "requires" you to hand over your social security number before you are even allowed to come in for an appointment. That is not necessary. At all. And it is dangerous for YOU. The woman who told me that we couldn't be seen unless I gave it to her right then and there on the phone couldn't even give me a valid reason for absolutely needing my social right then before she could continue to book my appointment, other then for identification processing. This dermatologists office is awful. My husband had skin cancer on his arm. They did the surgery and the incision was a good three inches long. The stitiching was so bad that the whole thing opened up. When he went back they wanted to charge him to even look at their incision and wanted to charge him to restitch what they had screwed up in the first place. Not nice or understanding. My son had warts. We went there for over six month. Spent hundreds of dollars and he still has warts. There is a reason you can get an appointment right away at Skin MD and other dermatologists take months. read more

When I asked if there was a situation today that made this unusual, I was told they are "running a bit behind" and that I would probably be seen in a few minutes. Bad. Bad. Bad. I have been going here for a few years and have now tried all the doctors hoping to find a decent one but I will never go back. 1 star is generous. After waiting 30 mins to see the doctor, she did a 5 minute body check and removed a few moles. I was in and out of the room in 15 minutes, max. I then received the invoice and i was charged an additional fee for "long appointment"....... I was also charged $55 for "tray of surgical tools". They used a razor and bandaids which were too small for the hole the doc left so I had to stop at Walgreens after leaving because I was bleeding down my neck. They are rude, make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious for having moles and freckles and they are only there for the money. The full body check is not full as they didn't check my hands, toes, head, nails. Avoid at all costs! read more

Worst people skills ever. I won a raffle for free juvaderm, drove all the way from city was about 10 minutes late. They said they can't take me & I can't get it free. I had botox last month & paid $450 and you can't even see any difference. They are a rip off- don't waste your $ or time. The girls at the front desk are great. I want to say at least one positive thing. Dr Bielinski was very cold and seemed annoyed by any questions. He did a lazy scan of my body for a mole check. This was a couple years ago but since then a family member went here and had the same experience with him so I thought I finally need to leave a review. I then went to one of the female doctors who wasn't super friendly either but did her job. I've never felt so unwelcome in ANY doctors office. I miss going to my old dermatologist but my insurance changed. Also it's always about an hour wait before they take you back. This is also my only non five star review I've left on yelp. read more

The Orland office is beautiful which is good because you will wait in it for a very long time. Went for a skin check and it took a couple of hours. Needed to go back for a recheck today and spent 45 min in the waiting room. When brought into a room I inquired about the wait as I needed to get back to work. I was told there were 4 ahead of me who required biopsies. I left accomplishing nothing and was left with unfinished business. It's a shame because it's a convenient location and a pleasing atmosphere. If I had failed my appt I would be charged with the credit card I had to leave with them, however they failed me but I have no recourse. Sadly I will be looking for a new md. There are enough mds who are respectful of patients' time that I don't need to use this one. read more

I don't have complaint about the whole facility, just one doctor in particular, Michael J. Welsch. I went there today to try and get a solution to a skin problem I've been having. I felt this doctor was very rude and not in anyway concerned about the issues that were addressed to him regarding my skin condition. I paid a HIGH co-pay to see him and all he did was handed me three sheets of paper, that I could have printed from the internet and that was the end of my visit. Needless to say he didn't give them to me, his assistant did. I received "No thank you for coming," no ANYTHING, so needless to say, I'm not a happy camper and will be forwarding my complaint to the American Dermatologist Association regarding the very unprofessional matter in which I was treated today!! read more

The doctor was fine, but my son went three times, each time had to wait an hour in this waiting area where there are no magazines, just brochures for their cosmetic procedures, and a TV you ca't avoid that is just more commercials for their procedures. So annoying, and then they have to have your credit card number instead of sending you a bill after it goes to insurance. What? after all they charge they can make sure the charges are right after billing insurance! Money Money Money, all they care about. Charged my card without my authorization, and I asked twice - once over the phone and once in person when I got there, to PLEASE not charge my card until speaking with me first. They did it anyway (enormous amounts of money, in my opinion). Called, spoke to a man, and I was told that those notes were "put in the wrong space in the computer, so nobody saw them". They wouldn't and will not reverse the charges, even after I explained my financial situation. All of this, and I wasn't even diagnosed properly either. Will never return. For a small wart removal they charged my insurance $1,445 (this place does tests and lab work without your permission). 2. Doctor was completely impersonal. 3. Doesn't spend enough time with patients. He left the room before telling me how to take care of the area of skin after the wart removal. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Interesting. My compliant is very similar to the one listed above, about another doctor at the facility. Sure the facility looks great. But, the doctors I saw, Dr. Belinski and Karrie Hall, Seemed not concerned about my skin issue at all. I left Dr. Belinskis visit with no good info, he only scheduled a treatment based on what I told him from my history 15 yrs ago.(which turned out to be unnecessary) Then seen Karrie Hall for the treatment, who is like a Cold hearted Robot and extremly rude. Professional feedback and/or advise was non-existent on either visits with these doctors. Theres plenty of dermatolists out there. Choose another!! read more

This place is seriously the worst. The receptionists are rude, the doctors are cold and awkward, and you will wait forever in the waiting room. You basically feel uncomfortable throughout the entire visit. I've seen more than one doctor here and they all seem annoyed when you ask them questions about your condition.
