Sad to say I looked at the Yelp reviews too late. I was seen for an annual skin check (which is covered by my insurance), they coded the bill incorrectly so insurance would not pay. Called their office, they stated they don't have those codes but would research and resubmit the bill. The resubmitted the bill with the same codes. I also had a chemical peel which should cause dryness and flakiness. Nothing happened, I called was transferred to the nurse hotline, left a message two weeks ago with no response. Waste of money and time. I am currently on hold again with the insurance company trying to get ahold of the Skin Physicians office. read more

I have contact dermatitis and I am highly allergic to certain products. I wasn't happy with the treatment at Kaiser so I changed to a PPO. I went to Dr. Lindsay for help due to getting rashes almost every day. Ask for Fmla to protect myself for work and she refused as if I was lying, even though She did the patch test and confirmed my diagnosis you go to doctors for help not to keep struggling and dealing with a medical condition. I was prescribed steroids, but living in the high desert due to the heat the rashes were hard to control will never go back to this Office. I'm currently looking for a new dermatologist who can actually help me. I hope this helps someone and prevents them from going through what I went through. read more

I would say this was the worst place I've called. When I asked about the cost, they told me over the phone and said I should arrive 15 minutes early so they could check my insurance. However, that never happened. Every other place I've been to verifies insurance and informs you beforehand, but here, it felt like a scam to pressure you into paying whatever the invoice after your visit! When I met Dr. Lisa, I felt like she was just repeating the same information I had already found online. Even the nurse was strange--never showed any warmth. The doctor told me they would send a prescription, but that never happened. When I went to the pharmacy, they told me the medication was actually over the counter but I had to wait for 2 hours until I knew that. It was a complete waste of time! I thought the person who placed me on hold was going to return with the answer to my question. Instead I was transferred to the back office. Not knowing how this place runs their business. The doctor called me, apologized for the misunderstanding and the waste of my time, and gave me two virtual visits (my choice to be virtual and not have to drive all the way back down there) at no cost for the inconvenience. She went out of her way to help me with medication and followed up each time she said she would. It seems this was just an unfortunate mistake at the office but I am more than satisfied with the response from the Dr. on behalf of the company. New patients please stay away! This was our first time seeing a dermatologist and we went with them because our insurance sent us a local list. Everything seemed fine at first, but after our check up it was nothing but headaches and lack of communication. We had some lab work done, and was told we would only have a copay. We waited 1.5 months for the results, no communication from them. So we called to verify, they had them but never called us to tell us the results. NO FOLLOW UP from anyone! 5 months later we get hit with an "out of network lab" that our insurance does not cover. I called "skin physicians" and the lady told us since there was no paper work stating the copay that they can't help us. They never communicated that the lab would be "out of network" Now we have to fight with them and insurance to resolve this. And to add onto it, they over charged us our copay and didn't communicate that with us. Saying it was going to be kept as a credit for the next appointment that we never made! So if you go to them please be ready to get hit with bills later on, and no communication! read more

To be honest, I was scared to go to the dermatologist, as I have never been before. I know, shame on me for never getting a full body skin check, but I did it...finally! And you know what, it wasn't that bad. My appointment was with PA Shannon, and she made me feel so comfortable. She explained everything to me during my visit. Karie Hall, but things ALWAYS go well with Karie. I have been seeing her for years now after decades of other MD's and PA's for my skin care. Karie is always so very kind, patient and incredibly knowledgeable. We always discuss and review what we shall do. If we disagree a wee bit, we come to a compromise, usually a conservative one ( Karie wisely does this), as if necessary, I can always come back for more. And I always do, although it's usually for a touch up months later.... rather than for an immediate enhancement. Karie's support team is so delightful! In the front, I'm used to Dianna and Gigi who are both Darlings. Manager Chris is amazingly helpful and Daphne, Karie's Assistant, I'm embarrassed to say, recognizes my voice because I call so often. She always puts every effort into working me into Karie's incredibly busy schedule. Karie is so busy because she is so amazing, in every way. I can't recommend her more highly! I made an appointment for a rash sometime back-The nurse was very sweet but wasn't sure what was happening with my rash so she decided to freeze it off? I needed to have a cyst removed and tried to book an appointment with the first available doctor. This business refused my PPO insurance that the state requires us to have. We pay hefty premiums every month for this insurance and as self employed people we have to go through Covered California. They told me I would have to pay cash. This was not a cosmetic service but a legitimate medical problem. Very disappointing. I could understand if I had Medi-Cal but this is a Blue Shield PPO. Definitely not cool. read more

My family has been going to Skin Physicians for years and years seeing everyone from Dr. Sandra Lee to her father when he worked there. I was unhappy with where my current insurance was going to send me, so I opted to book an appointment at Skin as a cash patient for a couple concerning spots that I had noticed. The one positive thing was that they were able to get me in same day. However, when I arrived, the "down payment" was more than had been disclosed when booking. I paid it as I was already there and wanted peace of mind. Then, I waited for almost an hour past when I arrived. AN HOUR. The assistant called me back and said the doctor would be in shortly. As I'm waiting, I hear the doctor outside of my door state, "Is this my last patient? I want to go home. And she's a cash patient?.". My jaw was on the ground. After waiting an hour past my appointment, paying cash out of pocket, and paying a hefty cash consult fee, a doctor had the audacity to complain right outside of my door. All together, such a disappointing and unacceptable experience. One that I'm sure my family would've never gone through had it stayed a smaller business with family values. Honestly have not had a good experience here. Because this practice is franchised by some larger company, it takes hours to speak with customer service or billing over the phone. It is not simple to resolve any issues, like the time the office had a "computer glitch" the day I had an appointment and would keep sending me that same bill months afterward, despite me physically going into the office multiple times to tell them that I had paid the day of. I was a patient here for several years and primarily saw PA Erin Jensen. I left at the same time she left, but that was a coincidence. Very disappointed- I have been going here for years and they switched their appointments to a call center. I had an appointment scheduled weeks in advance, email confirmation and all. I received an email rescheduling my appointment two days before my scheduled appointment for a different time and when I called they said the call center bumped my appointment and there was nothing they could do. Well for starters you can't get anyone on the phone. I was going here for my acne and I hadn't been back in a year because what I was prescribed was working and now I'm running out, I call to get my prescription refilled from the pharmacy. The pharmacy tells me I need to speak to my dermatologist, I call nobody answers. I left a message for my dermatologists nurse nobody calls me back. Finally, I get someone on the phone and they don't take my insurance anymore? No explanation as to why but I can't be seen at all. I explained that last time I was seen my insurance didn't cover my prescriptions anyways, I had to pay out of pocket. So why can't I just get a refill? They won't do it. The receptionists that this business chooses to employ never care about doing their job. I called to make an appointment on Thursday 4/18/24, they gave me an appointment for Tuesday 4/23/24. I made sure that they knew I was driving from an hour away. I was called an hour before my appointment to confirm & go over the fees. When I show up at my appointment, the receptionist said that I wasn't in their system at all & refused to see me. (I'm not even a new patient, I've been here before & the receptionists are always unhelpful). I have confirmation of my appointment and don't know why they turned me away. I feel like they just wanted to go home early. Very unprofessional. I would not want my business to be represented this way. Get better receptionists & have better communication.
