Great experience-I highly recommend. They have a medical/derm practice and a cosmetic services practice. Easy to find location in Chestnut Hill with free surface and street parking. My PCP referred me to get an irritated skin tag checked out. His practice had a 6 month wait for Derm- Skincare Physicians was a month. I saw Kathleen Brodt, FNP-BC (Katie). She was professional and friendly and made me feel comfortable. I asked for a full body skin cancer screening and had her examine a few spots/growths. She suggested snipping one skin tag and freezing the other area (cryotherapy). Quick and easy. She suggested I return annually for skin cancer screening. I made my appt for next year- it had been years since my last skin screening. It never seems to be included in my annual physical. Office was clean, well organized and well-staffed. Very efficient. They do bill insurance for medical Derm. read more

My daughter saw Dr Christman as a new patient due to a cancellation. Maybe it was a bad day for Dr. Christman or she was running behind schedule. Whatever, she was dismissive, spent very little time with my daughter, did not allow her to express all her concerns and my daughter was in and out of Dr Christman's office within minutes. A very demeaning experience. Thankfully she has another appointment with a dermatologist from another practice who I know from experience is a very good listener, doesn't rush through an appointment and will provide the answers to questions Dr Christman did not have the time or patience to address. read more

DO NOT get laser hair removal here . I initially went here to help with my Rosacea and while I spent thousands to help, it did absolutely nothing. But that is nothing compared to when I got recommended to get laser hair removal. I initally just wanted to get it for a small section for my upper back that grew hair after a really bad sunburn I had a few years back . However something I never expected or was told could ever happened occured. I GREW HAIR! Its actually insane that in areas that I might have had one or two hairs now grow on almost all of my upper back now! This shouldn't happened and would only happen with terrible malpractice that occurred. It looks so disgusting now and I barely see anyone commeny online about this ever happening. At this point even a refund(which they would never give!!) isn't enough as now I have to find a way to remove hair on 3 times the area I initially came for and never had any hair!! I have been seeing Dr Sobell for many years. Typically I see him for a skin check but as time has gone by I've seen him for more complicated issues such as melasma and potential skin cancer. He has always been incredibly pleasant, thorough and patient. He has a wonderful bedside manner and I feel seen and heard under his care. I had a suspicious mole on my face and the nurse squeezed me in just to have him review it. The office is always busy and it can be confusing to find the right office, there are several offices in the same bldg but I have no complaints. My whole family has been with this office for years and though there were occasional hiccups throughout those years we stayed with them for our dermatological needs, but this latest incident has put full stop to our patronage. My child had an appointment for a wart freezing (takes less than 5m) and due to lane closure on rt9 we were running late. Our appointment was at 10:45, I called them from rt9 at 10:45 stating that we're on traffic and that though we're technically 5m away, traffic is crawling and we'll probably be 10-15m late. Scott picked up and stated he'll check with the nurses and said it's fine to keep coming down. If we're going to be "significantly later" to call him back and he'll talk to the nurses again. We made it to the office at 11. I waited to get checked in and the very unpleasant and slow lady at the reception informed me that we're out of luck. I proceeded to to explain to her that I have spoken with Scott who said it's OK to be late 10-15m and after telling me to have a seat that she will check with the nurses, she proceeded to check in other patients behind me. One of the patients had insurance issues which they started to figure out, meanwhile my time is sticking as I'm sitting there waiting for her to go check with the nurses. That took about another 10 minutes after which I got up and I explained that she is taking a long time to go back and check with the nurses after which she said that I am precluding her from doing her job checking in other patients. Meanwhile, there are other two people sitting at the front desk, seemingly not doing much, one of them did get up and went back to the nurses station, and after another five minutes came out and said that the nurses said at this point it was too late. THEY HAVE A 10m LATE POLICY! Which clearly Scott wasn't aware of if he told us to come on down knowing we'll be later than 10. I wasted so much time and was given so much aggravation for something that would've taken 5 MINUTES ! We will never go back to that office. I work with patients myself and I know that you can accommodate when you want to accommodate. Sad. read more

I have been to SCP for many years. I see Dr Sobell. I just love him! Such a great bedside manner, really listens, is always available for any issue which I may think is important. I had Basal Cell. My surgeon was Dr Kamimer. OMG.. so kind, caring, calming. This was at least 10 years ago. it was under my nostril. He was such a perfectionist. Took his time. Needless to say, I have a very faint line in the crease of my cheek. You cannot even tell I had surgery! Really a wonderful surgeon. I can't tell you how many stitches I had--superficial and deep dissolving. I just cannot understand the negative comments. It is not deserved. Yes, It is a long way to travel, but I have been with other dermatologists with other people- I will trade for the awesome care. No, I am not into the cosmetic stuff; just the medical nitty gritty of having basal cell. I have never hesitated to recommend this office to anyone. Funny thing: other people in my family have been there, to different doctors and have glowing reports.. read more

Wow Skincare Physicians racking up the one star reviews. Here's another one: I have a facial scar from a car accident. I got sandpaper dermabrasion to lessen the appearance in 2015 & the appearance improved. Fast forward to 2022- scars need maintenance, & I went to do the procedure a second time. The doctor who had performed it the first time was no longer doing it. The only doctor that was performing it was Dr. Kandula. She performed the procedure only this time the appearance was not improved. In fact it was made even more noticeable & hypertrophic and on top of that, it created a new scar in addition- a depression under that eye. I came in for a follow up appointment and expressed my concern. I was very upset & crying. I did not yell, I did not swear, I didn't insult or say anything inappropriate. I merely expressed how upset I was with paying for improvement for a scar only to have it made worse & have a new scar on top of it, & tried to ask what could be done to fix it. You have to imagine this happening to you. She tried to gaslight me & tell me the scar looked better when nobody else in their right mind thought so. I actually had to get filler to fix the under-eye depression & had to get another procedure- radiofrequency microneedling- just to try to get the hypertrophic scar back to the way it was originally at least. The RFMN actually ruined the texture of my entire face & I honestly blame her because even though she didn't perform that procedure (I would never have had her touch my face again), her botched procedure is the only reason why I needed another one to begin with! But I didn't even bother her with this fact as I knew she wouldn't care or feel any kind of responsibility & it would be pointless. All I did was make an appointment, a year later, with a regular dermatologist within Skin Care Physicians to ask what to do about the texture issue. The dermatologist assured me, "We got you," & "Don't worry you came to the right place." But he suggested I see Dr. Kandula. I said, "Ummm, I'm sure she doesn't want to work with me again & I don't really want to work with her again either." I didn't bad mouth her at all, I even tried to take some of the blame off of her by saying maybe I got the procedure too close to spring & the sun exposure may be why the scar became hypertrophic (even though I was wearing a bandaid for months over it). A few weeks later I am SHOCKED to receive a letter in the mail. The letter tells me that Skin Care Physicians will no longer treat me as a patient in ANY CAPACITY, & that I am not able to see any other doctor there or go there for anything at all. With no explaination as to why. I have called & tried to get a reason why. I get told someone will call me back & no one ever does. This is absolutely INSANE to me. I never did anything to anyone! I merely expressed dissatisfaction with a procedure. They didn't discharge me then!! They wait until a year later when I see another doctor and then tell me I am no longer a patient with them without a reason?!?! So beware. If Dr. Kandula messes with YOUR FACE or YOUR BODY, & you aren't happy with the results, you will get as far as one appointment to express so & then you will be discharged so they don't have to deal with the mess they made. This is not in line with the Hippocratic oath or any standard of care. It's truly a crime & I will plaster this review from here to Google to the BBB. Went in to have a few moles looked at, nurse/PA came in, asked some medical history questions and took some pictures which took about 5 minutes. Doctor came in for literally 3 minutes, and only addressed about 3/5 things I came in for. The doctor was in such a rush my head was spinning and couldn't get a word in...for the amount these people charge I shouldn't be treated like cattle. Go elsewhere. read more

I saw Dr. Christman, and I highly recommend her. I had such a great experience in my visit with her. I've been having some persistent issues on my face, and dealing with issues of redness, irritation, etc. and she was incredible. She took her time in diagnosing potential causes, gave me a number of suggestive treatments, and made herself available for questions if I had them. My PCP recommended Skincare Physicians. Specifically there's a spot on my chest which concerned my pcp. I couldn't get an appt with a physician for many months, so I settle for a nurse or nurse practitioner. The lobby was full of people and products for halting the aging process. The nurse asked me why I was there and I told her my pcp recommended a full body skin eval and she asked why. I pointed out the spot on my chest and she squirted it with some liquid nitrogen. No head to toe eval as I had requested when I made the appointment. She seemed more concerned about selling some of the skin products in that office. She even gave me a prescription for Retinol (which she said is much stronger than the over the counter products). When I got to the pharmacy I was told that the cost was $128 because insurance doesn't cover it (and I have really great insurance!) I refused the prescription and left. Total waste of time going to Skincare Physicians if you're worried about skin cancer. They're more concerned about vanity and aging. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Christman. She completely erased my crow's feet and forehead wrinkles (Botox), and yet I look 100% natural. My skin's texture had become dull and sallow with age, so I took her recommendation to try Fraxel laser treatment and WOW - now my face is dewy, luminous, and fresh, like it used to be 10+ years ago. I didn't think my skin was ever going to look like that again and I am so grateful to her! I live in Miami so I have plenty of talented dermatologists nearby, but I only go to Dr. Christman - she's so good that I can't bear the thought of trusting my face to anyone but her. read more

Took my boys because one of them has eczema and needed steroid creams. Terrible bedside manner- she literally panicked that my young boys removed their masks inside the room even though she had on a medical grade mask. It's September of 2022 and anywhere other then her office we go does not require a mask. People are not freaking out over masks anymore. My boys were nervous from her and dropped the masks on the floor and she made them pick them off the floor and put them on. She told them they have to keep her safe. Also, she had no tolerance for their energy and little boy behavior. She addressed them very unkindly and was visibly irritated by them and rushed us out. Never again. Don't bring children here- they don't like them. Addendum: this was our first time with this doctor. We have come in many times over the years in the past and were always treated with kindness by other nurses and doctors. This review is not about a service performed , but about their accounting methods. I have had a deposit on file for a procedure for over 3 years. I was contacted by the office that I was due the refund. I submitted the paperwork quickly, then a week later I asked when would I receive it. I was told that it would be processed the following month (October). I asked why I would have to wait another 30 days for my money when Ive already waited over 3 years. I was told they would look into it, never happened. Still waiting as of today. Some of us could use a deposit back in a timely manner. I've had a great experience at this office. I've never had to wait long and they care about their patients. Everyone has been friendly and over accommodating. They have also been able to get me in on short notice and not have me wait for weeks on end for an appointment. This is not directed at any one member of the staff. Everyone has been lovely! Stay away. There are so many other choices out there that really care about people and their goals & health. Also, had an employee pull me aside and basically tell me not to do it. I took it as they were scamming me. I feel like they were more interested with taking my consult fee than providing a service. The consultation was $150 and I was told over the phone that the amount would be applied towards the service if I decided to move forward. When I went in for the consult, the doctor probably spent barely 5 minutes explaining the procedure and a nurse came in with a quote a few minutes later. The quote was more than TWICE as much as a medical spa in Back Bay. I feel like they quoted me so high on purpose so I wouldn't be treated. So basically spent $150 for a doctor to see me for 5 minutes and give me a ridiculous quote and no knowledge of the procedure. When I went to check out, the receptionist said the consult fee does NOT apply towards the service. If that's true, 1. train your staff to not say that over the phone when booking appointments 2. Have your physicians spend more time with potential patients & 3. Maybe change your policy to have the consult fee apply to services if you're going to charge so much. read more

This review is specific to my experience with Dr. Kaminer. I had previously seen two other doctors at this place - Dr. Arndt who did every good Botox on my forehead and Dr. Rohrer who I had an average experience with. In this case I went to Dr. Kaminer specifically for cosmetic treatment - Botox to the forehead and some filler in my cheeks. My eyebrows are a bit asymmetrical normally but past experience (for almost 20 years) with Peter Rubin of Brookline, an outstanding ocular plastic surgeon and Dr. Arndt (pre-Covid) had been very positive. Unfortunately, Dr. Rubin is not seeing patients in MA currently and Dr. Arndt is not coming into the office (both results of Covid). SO - I told Dr. Kaminer I wanted some lift to my eyebrows (a nice arch) and to make them more symmetrical. I was way overdue. I also wanted the Botox to relieve the scowl lines in the area between my eyebrows known as the glabella region - this is my biggest problem area. We also agreed that he would put some filler into my cheeks to decrease the "commas," jowls from my cheeks sagging with age. Two thousand dollars later I looked worse than I did walking in, even after some Botox touch-ups. The filler (however small amount he put in) simply created slightly puffed areas in my inner cheeks which accentuated the jowl effect AND seemed to create a swollen red pocket under my right eye. Bruise? Weird artifact, who knows! Dr.Kaminer tried to argue it was there before but it definitely was not. At the time of the work, he was instructing a younger doctor and they both seemed excited about the "fantastic result." To me, my face just looked very reddened and a tad swollen. But a day later, my cheeks looked absolutely no different than before, except for the effects noted. I certainly did not look younger or "lifted" in any way. Onto the Botox. Instead of getting a nice curved arch (as I have had in the past), I ended up with Mr. Spock eyebrows - the right one higher than the left), rising, looked pinned up at the sides and pushing the brows inward which created more (rather than less) wrinkle lines in the center of my brows. This vaguely witchy effect is something I've seen go wrong on a few actresses and always dreaded. So I went back in to see what could be rectified. For between $500.00 and $1,000.00 I could have more filler added. But he warned that that would just make my face "look fat." He did shoot some further Botox into the outer edges of my brows which accomplished nothing, but did produce some dark purple bruises. In 20 years I have never been bruised from Botox injections so that was another unpleasant surprise. The other things I'll note are: no BEFORE pictures taken as way to gauge the AFTER result (that could have revealed a lot); nothing done pre-shots to numb the area; no ice offered thereafter to control swelling; no discussions whatsoever of cost of the filler or the Botox ahead of time. Perhaps Dr. Kaminer is a cosmetic genius with others, but my sense was that he had no clue how to deal with my eye area or facial bone structure. I can hardly wait for the effects to wear off and will hold off until I can see Peter Rubin whenever he feels it's safe to resume his multi state practice. read more

I've been seeing Kelly Buchanan for skin checks and funky moles for three years now. She's amazing. She's always super friendly and knowledgeable. She always makes sure that I understand what she's doing and why. I always leave feeling like I'm safe and well taken care of. She has removed parts of my body with a razor blade multiple times and I still like her this much. (Biopsies! Even those don't suck here). 8:20 am and I had arrived on a cold, rainy, damp March morning for an appointment with one of my doctors in the same building. Upon walking in the door to the building from the parking lot, a girl asks me "are you here for Skincare Physicians?". Now, not even a hello, just a "are you here for Skincare Physicians?" as I am barely in the lobby door. I had no idea what she was talking about, just shook my head and then turned around and said "does my skin look that bad this morning?". Talk about making a hurried girl feel crappy, and I think (for my age and lifelong love of suntanning) my skin doesn't look too bad, if I do say so myself. It turns out they are doing construction of some sort in their office and are letting people know that, but how about a sign? How about a "Good Morning" before asking people if they are there for you? I wouldn't normally think to look at yelp reviews for a doctor's office, but I wish I had looked at reviews for SCP. I encourage you read through them because many say essentially the same thing. 1. The wait time is horrendous. The administrative staff is not well trained in customer service. They leave you sitting there with absolutely no update and if you dare to ask you are met with curt answers. 2. Many of the doctors are aloof and don't seem to listen. I just always feel like they are in a rush to their next appt. I've seen at four SCP doctors for different reasons and they range from abrupt and curt to nice but rushed. 3. This may not matter to some readers but the atmosphere is very off putting to me. Lots of pushy people in fancy cars. The whole practice feels so entitled. It definitely feels more like a practice for expensive cosmetic surgery than a doctor's office. It is hard to find a good dermatologist but after asking friends, I finally found another practice that is a much better fit. read more

I had been to skin care physicians in the past and I had a positive experience. So when I moved back to the area I figured I would seek dermatology care from this practice. It is 2022 and we are still in a pandemic. There was a sign on the door requesting patients to be kind to staff. I had a lot of compassion walking in thinking they must have had some disgruntled patients within the past two years. The receptionist was extremely rude from start to finish, despite my continuing to be respectful towards her and calmly answering her questions. She was harsh in tone and judgmental because I did not know the name of my primary care physician or the doctor I was seeing that day. I had just moved to the area which I explained and I hadn't seen a primary care yet. She also laid into me about my insurance card which was out of date but the member ID was accurate. Blue Cross sending me updated insurance cards is outside of my control, but she had little patience for this. She then informs me that the insurance is fine, Meaning she had just gotten hostile with me for no reason. It took a lot for me to be able to attend this appointment given I have childcare responsibilities etc. I was on time and as prepared as I could have been. The RN and MD were exceptionally warm and kind. However, I will not return to this practice because I've never been treated so disrespectfully in an initial encounter. Support staff are the face of the practice. I highly recommend this business reconsider who they have interfacing with the patients. Update: I just read the other reviews and feel quite validated. I'm sure the practice owner will comment a response. If you read this, please just take accountability for what is not going well in your practice and listen to those reviewing your business. Had an appointment with Mitalee Christman. She is not professional in any way. I wish I could leave a zero star. She walked in a little late and started asking me irrelevant questions. I assumed that a doctor was meant to read through a client's file before the date of appointment. She didn't really show much knowledge about why I was there. Upon noticing this, I started doing more of the talking. It was more like a presentation of why I came and told her what my major doctor would do if she was around. Dr Kandula happened to be my main Dr. After the whole narrations, she only said few things and was about leaving like she was in a hurry. Then I had to call back her attention to the fact that I always had a monthly prescription which she didn't display any knowledge about knowing at first. It was after I had mentioned it, that she did what she was supposed to do to put in the medication for me. I honestly regretted wasting my time going for that appointment. I immediately reported to the front desk on my way out about my dissatisfaction. The front desk advised gave me a card to call the billing department and report about my issue which I did right away. Skincare physician did absolutely nothing regarding my complaint. I also left a message on the portal. I wouldn't recommend Mitalee Christman to anyone because she doesn't put in any sort of interest into her job. I wish I could give zero stars. My daughter has hemangioma's and I called asking if they see toddlers and do laser on them. I asked to speak to a nurse who Confirmed this could be done at their office. I waited two months for my appointment. We meet with the doctor and was told to go to MGH because they didn't treat toddlers?!?!? Then the doctor told me to make sure the dr's at MGH would treat toddlers prior to the appointment- that is what I did here and was told the WRONG information!!! Since we were there, I asked the doctor about a new red spot on my daughters lip. I was told it's viral and if it doesn't go away in a few weeks to see her pediatrician. Well, we saw the pediatrician and was told it is definitely not viral and we need to see a dermatologist because it is believed to be another hemangioma! I went to the office for my procedure in June and was told my allergy ( which was almost recovered) might affect my procedure so I postpone my procedure to next week. I was told I could also get it done on the day but to be conservative I still decided to do next week. I needed to say my allergy happened many days ago and I knew it was almost recovered so I could probably get my procedure done on that day. I never know for this quick look it was charged( I did pay my first $150 consultation fee even though that was in a bit rush). I didn't ask Dr.Dover to treat me for allergy. I was told there wasn't a charge as they just looked at me to see if I would be okay to get the procedure done. I explained to the billing department but they don't listen. They kept on billing me. I called in today trying to explain the bill but the man insisted saying my visit on that day was for allergy treatment. It is NOT True. I came for a procedure that was postponed. I never made the appointment for seeing Dr. Dover for my allergy. While I was explaining, the billing guy suddenly said to me" you are so rude! I will keep on billing you and send you to the collection". Very shocking! I don't know where he comes from, why he suddenly says that. Is he trying to threat a customer? I guess I will just give up. I have received three procedures and paid a fairly big amount of money. I will not come back and will never recommend this place to anyone I know. read more
