I'm not kidding when I say these are the best crabs I've tasted as a lifelong Marylander. They source them from Louisiana so they taste sweeter than Maryland crabs. If you ask for butter, you have a choice - you can opt for regular butter or garlic butter. Our server Kristen was attentive, personable, and friendly!! We didn't even had napkins but we had 3 dz of crabs. She never came to see if we needed anything at all. Service can be a little slow when they are busy, especially with big parties. And they do run out of crabs. It's inevitable. Napkins and utensils are clearly in crab buckets for you to grab. Crabs Year Round, Fun and friendly staff, and some of the best prices for quality, food, and service. You can't go wrong! I literally drive past their other location on Belair Rd. just to get to this location specifically. One of the only place you can still get tasty, heavy, crabs beyond size small/medium in the region during off season and they are still good. Of course, in season they are better because they are local but these were not bad and do what they need to do when it's not peak crab season and crabs are hard to find and ridiculously priced. I ordered the jumbo on my recent visits and they were larger than my hand AND probably weighed a half pound. I was extremely surprised by how heavy and meaty they were. Always a good time here. Food was ok at best, we also had to consistently ask for refills, they weren't be given unless asked, another huge issue is we also used their slot machine and won only to be told that it's for "entertainment purposes" and when confronted they said they have a sign saying it but it was far as hell away from the machine and not in view, when we told the manager about how the sign should be on or in sight of the machine because who the hell would use a slot machine that doesn't pay out? She said "we will take it into consideration" when we said the sign should be in front of the machine, they also apparently had a lady earlier that day win too and she said the same thing and complained.. 10 dollars wasted. Came to this spot to meet family for lunch and watch some football. There were obviously plenty of drinks to go around and I ordered a burger and fries for lunch. The burger wasn't bad but I expected a little bit more. It was a pre-frozen patty on a fresh roll with limp lettuce and a tomato. While not the worst burger I've had it left a lot to be desired. The fries were good! The bartender was doing the service and she was pretty good at keeping the drinks coming. They are going downhill. Daughters raised in Bowleys Quarters and have frequented Skip Jacks while it was other names as well as Skipjacks but now service is horrendous. Needless to say, on June 15, 2024, the staff made them for over 20 minutes on the deck while others that came up there got seated and orders taken immediately and then the waitressing staff had an attitude when the patrons inquired as to who is the server and what was going on as to why they were not even asked for a drink order. Very disappointed, as the owner should know this as he gets his Silver Queen corn from New Jersey and everyone of all colors spends their money there. Please reconsider as you lost 2 loyal customers, and they will spread the word to their classmates, friends, and colleagues. read more

Lunch and a show! Skipjacks is one of a trio of seafood restaurants owned by the same people and we've now got to visit each one. The crab deck is across from a marina so there is a bit of water to look at and is also located near the Maryland Air National Guard. We got to enjoy watching them practice maneuvers just overhead on the deck! Service was great, drinks were well poured and the crabs were full of sweet meat and hot. Ample parking, good prices. No handicapped access to upstairs deck. Great alternative to driving over the bridge or fighting traffic to waterfront in DC. A new favorite place read more

We decided to give this place a try. I have been at restaurants at this location for many years, as the building has been there since I was a kid over 60 years ago. Some of the restaurants that were there were good; others not so good. Unfortunately, I have to put Skipjack's in the not so good category. First off, the dining room was very crowded, and on duty were one server, one bartender, and one food runner. The server was very friendly, and I believe was doing her best considering the circumstances. The highlight of the meal was the appetizers; the tater tots topped with crab drip were very good, and the crab nachos were decent as well. The Bavarian pretzels came out as one long pretzel with lukewarm cheese dip. Three of us ordered the crab cake platter. The crab cakes were not spiced at all, and although the menu said all lump crab meat, they were not. I order the vegetable of the day, which was maple glazed carrots. The carrots were extremely undercooked and tasted like they took them out of the bag and poured maple syrup over them. My friend ordered a shrimp salad sandwich, which he said was mediocre at best. The drinks were very slow to come, so if you like to drink, this is not the place to go. We were not offered dessert by the server, so we asked her for it. Two of my friends ordered the hot lava cake, which they said was decent. My other friend ordered cheesecake, which he said was decent but nothing special. I ordered the key lime pie, which was very sour, and did not taste like any key lime pie that I have ever had. Oh I almost forgot; it took almost an hour for the desserts to arrive at the table. I would not recommend Skipjack's and I will not be back. Another thing, I automatically add 18% tip, and recommend that you give more. I am normally at 25% tipper if the service and food are great; needless to say, I only paid the 18%. read more

What a joke this place is . My kids and I walked in and ordered crabs and corn everything was great . Then I ordered the rock fish with crab hash and salsa a 26$ entree the fish came out on a plate with corn and broccoli I asked where is the salsa and crab hash ? 5-10 min later can the salsa 5-10 after that can the crab hash by that time the fish was cold and I asked Are you expecting me to put this plate together myself ? The staff gave excuse after excuse on why this rock fish plate took 45 min and was brought to the table in 3 trips we asked to have this meal calm and were told that we eat off the plate I said no problem and they persisted to put an 18% gratuity on my check. With the amount of disrespect and ignorance showed by the wait staff and "MOD" this place is a clown shells, we called the other location to see if we could get in touch with the manager the Belair Road location was very receptive but I doubt anything will be done about this. What a joke. Look at the wording at all of these so called crab houses in Maryland, if you are a crab cake lover look very close. I learned something very important. Most of these places advertise Maryland style crab cakes. Why you might ask well let me tell you why and this place is no different then the rest. These places use crab meat from other countries and not from Maryland. Humm why is that you ask...well they can buy Chinese, Venezuela, Vietnam crab meat very cheap and sell it to you at higher prices. Instead of using Maryland crab meat that is in season or using United states crab meat out of season, not telling you that these other places farm raise their crabs in waste water and use preservatives that keep this garbage fresh during weeks of shipping until it's sold and feed to you and your family unknowingly. Always ask if the restaurant sources only Maryland/ United states crab meat, it may cost you a little more but I promise you when you know how these foreign countries do things you will never eat another thing from these places again. Insist on Maryland sourced crab meat. read more
