I'm so surprised to see hardly any reviews for Peters Seafood as I think it's a wee gem!! Having…read moreonly recently dipped my toes into the world of Seafood I tentatively booked dinner at Peters a few months ago for their Pre-Theatre menu. A set menu with 3 courses at £14.50, this is excellent value for the quality of food you get in a tiny restaurant. The place is family run, by Peter himself and his wife I'm sure. They really couldn't do enough for us when we visited. The starters on the menu on our visit (it changes) were the usual suspects in a Seafood restaurant, prawn cocktail, crab cakes, calamari etc. They also had Chicken Empanadas, which I tried, given that I'm new to fish I didn't want 2 courses!! The empanadas were crispy and flavoursome & came with a chilli dipping sauce. A perfect sized portion for a starter. Martyn went with the Prawn cocktail and, as you'd expect in a seafood restaurant, it was totally delicious with juicy prawns and a tangy Marie Rose sauce. I spoke with the waitress before ordering my main and explained that I was new to seafood and unsure about what fish to start with. She suggested the Seabass as it has a mild flavour and a meaty texture. I'm sooo glad I took her advice!! The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and melting flesh, such a delicate flavour and not fishy whatsoever. It was served with wilted spinach and a lemon oil and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It really opened my eyes to the fact that fish doesn't necessarily have that fishy taste I expected it to have. We weren't going to bother with puddings, it was a beautiful sunny night and we both fancied a walk & an Ice cream along Troon beach. However when clearing our plates the Waitress uttered 2 completely delectable words.....'Homemade Profiteroles'. This well and truly sealed the pudding deal and 2 plates swiftly arrived at our table. They were incredibly light with crispy yet airy Choux pastry and filled with delicious vanilla cream. The chocolate on top was the kind that makes u want to lick your plate (and I almost did). Overall an excellent meal in a lovely atmosphere for a great price. I often recommend it to visitors of East Kilbride and I can't wait to go back!

This restaurant was recommended highly but felt it lacked a little in intimacy. Food very good but for a seafood restaurant could have offered a bit more Variety of fish. On the whole our meal , smoked haddock macaroni and steak was lovely and no complaints.

We were seated immediately, didn't have to wait. The place was packed, with only two or three two-person tables open indoors. We sat next to a couple that ordered the seafood platter. And by golly, it was enormous! It's such a good deal for 95 pounds. The crab, mussels, lobster, and all looked soooo good. We weren't that hungry that evening so decided to opt in for half dozen fresh oysters (which were delicious) and each ordered a fish from their special menu of the day. Everything was super well flavoured and seasoned. Beware of bones in the whole fish! The halibut was very meaty. A bit overcooked in one end but acceptable because of the sauce it came with. You can't find a lot of tasty vegetable dishes in Scotland but this dish has squash and broccolini that was perfectly cooked and seasoned (in other words not just smoothered with salt). I'd definitely come here regularly if I were a local!

Situated at 1114 Argyle Street and open from 12h00 Wednesday through Monday, reservations strongly recommended at all times for any size party, guests will find upstairs seating, bar stools and a few uncovered outside tables all tightly packed. A concise concept sourcing only Fish and Shellfish from Scotland, five classics and some snacks surrounded by daily specials, Food is simple yet nicely prepared while prices trend high per portion. Baking Focaccia on-site, springy with good Olive Oil, a first visit featured Crabshakk's skillet Scallops in fragrant Butter before a tiny £30 Crab with mixed Meat in a cheesy Stew and Rice Pudding with Coconuts and Pineapples that seem inconsistent with the concept.
