Just when I thought there had to be potatoes in my spoon, my mouth was met with scallops on scallops on scallops. I love the way the restaurant prepared their lobster, minimally, as to preserve the natural texture and flavor of the ocean. The fries are made from locally grown potatoes, fried to crisp on the outside, starchy and squishy on the inside. The bacon tightly wrapped around the scallops, adding a sweet and salty note to a soft pillow. The mussels were bouncy meaty but was paired with a white wine sauce infused with an herb that we were not fans of (perhaps tarragon?). The 15-20min wait was well worth the meal. Our party of 6 felt like fish and seafood last night, and wanted something we haven't tried yet - and no chain stores. This place hit the spot! You can tell it's good because it's so popular. They don't take reservations, and we had to wait an hour for the table. By the time we got our table, it was less than half an hour till closing time, and they had run out of the chowder. Service was pleasant, although they were tired from a full and busy day. On top of this, our visit ran nearly an hour and a half past closing time!. I flew in to see my sister and planned to have a lobster feast with her. We read very highly rated reviews of Skipper Jacks before making our choice. We ordered the lobster dinner and the server checked on the price to inform us it had increased from $45 to $62 pp but we looked forward to the best that the Maritimes offers (as per reviews). Honestly, it was the worst lobster meal I have ever had. The lobster was not hot and steamy, the meat was dull and slimy and mushy, and the meal was tasteless. I asked the server if this was "fresh" to which she informed us, it was. Well, after having many, many lobster dinners in my life, this was clearly a fabrication. $200 later, my sister and I will never return to this restaurant. Very disappointed that we were adived there was no lobster for dinner. We were advised if we ordered a 2.5lb lobster it woukd be around $75.00 but market price is for $15.99/lb. I had lunch at Skipper Jack's and ordered the seafood chowder. Unfortunately, it was loaded with the tough side muscles of scallops -- the side muscles that are removed and discarded when cooking scallops. Someone apparently thought they could throw them in the seafood chowder. They are so tough as to be practically inedible. I had to pick them out. Any place that doesn't know not to do this is a place I wouldn't trust to cook anything else for me! Highly recommend you go somewhere else. read more

My wife and i went to skipper jacks for quite a few years and was always satisfied, our recent trips have not been good, fries and clams over cooked, onion rings were hard as rock and waitress was not pleasant at all, hopefully these issues are remedied or we will not be returning. It's impossible! 'Management doesn't allow it.' I don't know if it's management or if it's just the staff who are lazy. Garbage customer service. Every time I went there's always something small and simple that they've DONE before- it's so basic, but now can't be bothered and will give you a bitchy tone while they're sitting in their asses as they refuse the sale. With so many rules it's amazing they can serve anyone. Lost my patronage and support as a recommendation for their pure lack of willingness to do generic, basic itty bitty things like putting certain items on the side. This is my favourite restaurant in Moncton and possibly all of the province. It's a nice casual place to stop in for a beer and eat something awesome. It's not a place you'd go if you were watching your weight but whatever.. The service is good, the food is excellant every time and the place is clean. The seafood is fresh, locally sourced and everything around it is delicious. My girlfriend orders different things every time we go - I stick to the seafood platter. read more

The menu offerings are mostly seafood dishes as well as chicken, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Beer and wine available. A kids menu and specials are also offered. The prices are moderate, most seafood dishes $9.99-$22.99, a few dishes with lobster $29.49-$29.99. For lunch, the Lunch Fisherman's Plate ($9.99) had 2 jumbo shrimp (very crispy outside and juicy inside), 2 breaded scallops (hot & moist inside), 1 crispy fried haddock (a bit greasy) and one sider (chose the Greek salad-fresh romaine lettuce, tomato, red pepper, red onion, Greek olives, feta cheese, & an oil based Greek dressing). Also, The Wally Haddock ($12.99) were 2 pieces of pan seared haddock with a crispy coating of crushed walnuts with lettuce, cucumber, tomato garnish and served with one side (baked potato with butter & sour cream was chosen). The sides of tartar sauce, butter, and sour cream came in very small paper cups (similar to McDonald's dipping cups for ketchup), could've use a bit more. We passed on dessert and settled up on the check. The pace of the service was relaxed and the food took a while to be served, even in a quiet not so busy dining room. The food we ordered was very good. The Wally Haddock was very enjoyable since it was not deep fried and had a good crunch on the outside. Wow...we spent a few days in Moncton and are SO happy we found Skipper Jacks! Everything we tried was delicious, the service was friendly and warm, and did I mention the seafood chowder? Amazing. Our favorite dishes were: the aforementioned seafood chowder, the lobster roll, and the Ancient Mariner salad (the scallops were phenomenal)!
