The store is on the northeast corner of Jackson and Avenue 50. {If you don't want to have heart palpitations, come in from Calhoun Street going south and turn right on Avenue 50, and right into the lot on the corner of Jackson because the cars from the two two-lane roads hustling at that Stop Sign are enough to raise your blood pressure a lot.} We saw displays of the most beautiful produce inside the door. Plump oranges, zucchinis, broccoli, cucumbers and many other items show off their freshness and aroma. We found cucumbers, zucchini, carrots and the most fragrant strawberries ever. A bottle of Pico Pica hot sauce rounded out the purchase. Their food truck is parked on the southeast corner of their lot. @elowtitos @lgdesertstore We ordered two carne asada mulitas, a burrito, and loaded fries. Everything was delicious. The staff in the store as well as the food truck are so lovely. My husband was using a walker and everyone in the store was super helpful. We look forward to scooting over often now that we know about this wonderful group of people and the magnificent fruits and vegetables.

I was hesitant to buy from here at first, but there was a guy there that said they have the block ice as well as the ice bags. We'd never used block ice before and this guy told us it's better than the small bagged ice and that he works construction and frequents this place because they sell the block of ice. He said it would last us all weekend if we kept the cooler close and if we wanted to break up the ice into small pieces to just use our mallet. I forgot to mention we were camping up the street at Empire Grand Oasis and the ice was for our ice chests. Glad we listened to that guy and went with the block ice as it really did hold up and stay cold. Definitely stop in for the block ice and they're also a liquor store and mini market. It was the kind of place you remembered and looked forward to coming back to. Unfortunately, what I received today was incredibly disappointing. $17 with tax for a sandwich that appeared to have roughly four ounces of meat is simply unacceptable. Just look at the picture the amount of meat speaks for itself. I understand that food costs, labor, and operating expenses have increased over the years. I would much rather see a business raise its price and maintain the quality and portions that built its reputation than charge premium prices while dramatically reducing what the customer receives. Longtime customers remember what Alkobar used to serve, and that is what makes this particularly disappointing. Businesses build loyalty through quality, consistency, and value. When those things disappear, unfortunately, so does the loyalty. After this experience, I will not be returning. I sincerely hope management takes customer feedback seriously and remembers what made Alkobar successful in the first place.
