I recommend this business for various reasons. First of all it's a very nice venue. If you're looking for a party location and you like bowling this is a great choice. They keep this bowling alley very clean. It is kept up very well. You can tell by the seats at the food counter. It was a pleasure just to see them. The food might be a little pricey on the big board but if you are looking for a bargain, generous portions and fine flavors then check out their chalkboard sign! The lanes are all in great order. They keep the playing area clean, clean, clean! The balls they offer are in good shape. They have a great pro-shop with some of the coolest equipment and balls I've ever seen. I have been coming to this place for years now, even though I don't bowl very often - I have bad feet and not being a serious bowler anyways I haven't invested in shoes. This means I have to rent them and they have no cushion whatsoever so my feet hurt when I bowl. But then no one cares about my woes so let's talk about the alley. About the only thing I don't like is that weekends you have to pay by the hour and it isn't cheap. I find that a bit ridiculous, especially since we were there on a Saturday at 1:30 and aside from the party next to us there just wasn't that many people there. It ended up costing 38 bucks, and really we just wanted to bowl a couple of games. I ended up bowling enough to fill in the hour, but really? I used to be able to go bowl for 20 bucks and get in 5 games. Other than that, I like this place. It's big, it's airy, you can get decent food and you can get drinks although it's a bit limited early in the day. The lanes are good and the best part is that I NEVER have a problem finding balls to bowl with. I have a slightly gimpy arm so I look for lighter balls and my thick fingers means I'm often left bowling with balls that, well, suck. Not here. So really, if your choice is here or Thunderbowl, come here, always! And maybe bring a rag for the oil. read more

Not a good experience, came in at 7:00 on 1/2/24. We wanted a lane for open bowling. They put us on 16; I asked if they were spacing us out, the man said there was no one next to us but, if it got crowded, we would have people next to us. They proceeded to fill lane 15 with 4 children using bumpers and unaware of bowling etiquette. Then they filled 17,18 and 19. Keep in mind that between 15 and 1, only 2 lanes were in use, and beyond 19 there were open lanes right up until the leagues. We spent our hour and a half there constantly waiting for someone to bowl. So, let me say this as someone who has been bowling 50 years: 99% of your customers would prefer not to have someone next to them if the lanes are not packed. My assumption is that the staff does not bowl or they are not paying attention. It is bad customer service, I have a hard time spending my money at a place that doesn't care that I have a good experience. On top of that, we get 3 or 4 frames into the first game and find out our lane was set up for 9 pin no-tap. We assumed that we had set the scorekeeper wrong. We finished the game, switched to another game and made sure it was straight 10 pin bowling. Sure enough, it continued to score it as 9 pin no-tap. The staff was pretty unconcerned. I know it's hard to find help, but Thunderbowl seems to find people. I will give you guys any therapy try, but, if you stack people on top of us, I'm going to ask for my money back and leave. read more

Brought my grandchildren there yesterday to bumper bowl. Ages 2, 4 and 10. The lady behind the counter refused to allow the 2 and 4 year old to bowl without wearing bowling shoes, which they did not have a size that fit them. They were both in their tennis shoes because we have done this before without an issue. Incredibly disappointed. The good news is there are several other bowling alleys in the area that were much more accommodating. I would definitely recommend Ford Lanes in Dearborn Heights over this establishment. We come from a family of bowlers and hopefully my grandchildren will enjoy the sport too...just not at Skore Lane. read more

I have been bowling here since I could walk. This new management does not care about the league bowlers. They have been losing leagues to other bowling alleys and I can now see why. Me and my family were also kicked out of a Saturday night league for taking "too long". Most of the times, when we finished, other teams were finishing their games too. We have bowled with Skore Lanes for years and it hasn't been an issue until the the new management took over. The bowling alley has informed us that bowling after 9:30pm on a 8pm league start time loses them money. My advice to you is the same. if you're a league, find a different bowling alley. They don't care about you even if you've been a regular for years. read more

The date and I were going to take the kids to the street fair last night, but due to the rain, we decided to come here instead. We've been talking about taking the kids bowling for a while, but we've been so busy we never had the time. In all honesty, I don't know that I've ever been to a "nice" bowling alley. Most seem to be dirty, outdated and lack a lot in atmosphere. I know there's lucky strikes, but it's on the other side of the earth, so we came here instead. I generally keep my standards low and in check for bowling alleys for this reason alone. On the bright side, the guy who helped us was super nice and friendly. I loved his personality and he really made our rainy day better. Greeted us with a smile, offered us bumper bowling for the kids and gave us the run down to the place of where stuff was at. (things like bathrooms, the bar, etc.) The prices were fair and we were able to bowl 1 game, rent shoes and play for 1 hour for the 4 of us for $25. Not a bad price for a Saturday night. No reservation needed, with plenty of lanes open. On the down side, a few things caught my eye. For starters, the bar was not open. Not that I needed booze, but I would have liked to have gotten a coke. I found out later that there's a grill in the back, but I had no idea it was there. I spotted the bar as I was surfing for balls and no one was there. We ended up getting drinks from the vending machine for $2.50 each. Secondly, I admit I'm not the best bowler, but I think something's wrong with the lanes here. I can't put my finger on it, but it seems like maybe they aren't even or something. Overall, we had a good time here, and this place is like everyone else. If I was on this side of town, I would probably come back here in a heartbeat because it's in a strip mall, close to some smaller restaurants and not far from where the BF lives. read more

A review of a bowling alley - you probably think, what could be bad about a bowling alley? Well, should I start running down the list? I have been to Skore Lanes many times since being a child. I never really had an opinion seeing I just looked at it as "Ohhhh bowling, cool!' Well, after my past few visits to open bowling as well as participating on a league - I will probably never go back again. With open bowling, the pricing always seems to be different even for the same amount of games on the same nights. Plus, they actually charge a tax on the games which I have never seen at a bowling alley before. I'd said the worst experience with open bowling thus far was going on a Tuesday night which they were not busy and lane availability was awesome - but they did not tell us that there was a work party there for a local restaurant. Everything was fine and we were just about to finish our 2nd of 3 games when all of a sudden the bowling alley switched over to cosmic bowling. We went up to the desk to inquire about the change. Well, I guess the work party had requested cosmic bowling. It would have been nice to know that before we had started bowling. Probably the worst experience had to be on a league I was recently on there. Not only did half of the teams quit but we were almost screwed out of our sporting event tickets at the end of the league. We had to deal with someone on our league trying to talk as a representative for the bowling alley each week. He would give us false information or get mad at all of us for skipping a week of bowling for the Super Bowl which he blamed the mixup on us for it. On a certain set of lanes that we played on quite frequently, there was something wrong with the camera or sensors which would miss-score especially when it would say you hit 3 pins after getting a gutter. Here is the kicker though, a team mate and myself had just gotten new bowling balls a few weeks before the league started, and about 2 or 3 weeks into the league our balls were chipped and messed up from the lanes. However, I will say that the pro shop is awesome. The people in there are very nice and know what they are doing. Also, it is very kid friendly especially on weekends when it is smoke free. Honestly though, I don't think I will be back for a very very very long time. read more

Ghetto is the word. Terrible balls. I refused to wear the shoes. You can see the damage on the poorly oiled lanes. Terrible food. The bar was okay, but the the staff is terrible. I wouldn't go here again. Went for a friend's 21st birthday, she was given a golden shit glass necklace and for her it was open bar all drinks free. Which for a 21 is not the safest, lol. read more

We were attending an elementary school event on Friday January 19th at 7pm. We were completely packed into the lanes, no seating and no room to walk. It would've been nice if they could've spread us out a little bit. 10 people per lane was a bit much. But my biggest complaint was 3 of the staff members. I took my child to the claw machines that are right by the concession area and the front doors. There were 3 girls, all employees, siting there chatting away, very loud, with TERRIBLE language. F- this. Mother F'er that. Aside from the fact that you are at work and should use appropriate language.....the place was filled with elementary age children!!!! I have zero interest in going back to this place. There are other bowling alleys just as close to home, if not closer, that are much nicer. read more

I've been bowling here for open bowling a few times, most recently I went a few weeks ago with a couple friends. Open bowling on Saturdays doesn't begin until 11 p.m., but we didn't know that so we had about 30 minutes to kill before we could get a lane. So we put in our name to reserve the next open lane, and we headed to the bar. The bar had fairly cheap pitchers of domestic beers, so we split a couple pitchers throughout the evening. We also ordered french fries from the snack bar, and they were very potatoey and good. The bowling alley has a lot of lanes, shoes you can rent without having to turn in one of your own shoes as collateral and plenty of bowling balls to choose from. The cashier and staff were all very friendly and tried to get us the best deal for our dollar. You can pay by the hour or by the game, I believe. read more

GO ANYWHERE ELSE! Worst bowling league experience I have ever had! Bowled a 16 week summer doubles league with 11 teams and never once played the vacancy. The issue was brought up to the managers but they shoved it to the side and never addressed it. Every other team in the league played the vacancy at least once and some even twice. The managers would never answer the question. On top of this they did not provide the opposing teams pre-bowled scores for us so we assumed we were playing absentee bowlers, come to find out the next week we lost games and we asked and then they tell us they pre-bowled. Managers are incompetent. The lanes MAY get oiled once a week if you're lucky so be prepared to hook a house ball 40 boards. read more

I recently participated in the TNBA tournament and while I visited the Detroit area I bowled in a few different bowling alleys, and I must say that I couldnt have been more impressed than I was by the staff and atmsophere at Skore lanes. Ive bowled my entire life and never felt more at home or welcomed and comfortable than I did when I bowled at Skore. I only wish this bowling center was located closer to my home, because I would come back and bowl here everyday. The manager on duty when I was there was a gentleman by the name of Kris, he welcomed me at the door holding it open as I walked in dressed very professionally and from the great welcome I knew this wasnt like most bowling alleys. The front desk girl Melanie was very pleasant and taught me how to play Keno which made my night that much more fun. She also helped me and my team find my lane and told us where the bar was located. The waitstaff wasnt far behind to check in and see if we needed anything which at the time we didnt. When we did go to the bar Char the bartender was incredible she was so ontop of everything and was very pleasant as well! Kris the manager then also stopped by and offered a game called Keglers Cash to us which I had never heard of so he explained it and I participated it made my bowling so much more fun even though I didnt win. Kris also stopped by later in the night to check in with us and see how everything was going and that once again made a great impression. As we left Melanie wished us well and told us to have a goodnight. Little things like this made it so nice to bowl here. As I said before I have bowled in many bowling alleys in my life and even during this trip for this tournament I wasnt treated anywhere near as good as I was when I was at Skore. I normally wouldnt acknowledge a bowling alley for something like this but Skore's staff was on the top of their game and went above and beyond and for that I wanted to thank them and tell everyone if you want to have fun and feel welcomed you should all check out Skore Lanes in Detroit Michigan! read more
