After living a number of years in Tennessee up the road from Chester Frost Park, when I decided to…read morereturn to the area as a visitor, I needed a place to camp and I knew this park would fit the bill. I have visited the park numerous times over the years while I lived here, but had never camped or stayed in the camping area. The park is well-maintained, at least the campsites are. They have easy access and are nice and level with good fire pits in picnic tables for each one. Being from the area, it was not a surprise to me to have the Lake level low when I was here in March because I know that TVA lowers the lake every winter for flood control And raises it back up in April so the water level didn't bother me. The check-in experience online was simple and straightforward. The staff at the range station are outstanding, very personable and friendly. I stayed for a week and enjoyed myself. The only downside was the showers and the bath houses. They are a little rundown and need to be upgraded. Other than that. It's a nice campground clean and well kept. People were friendly and it's a beautiful area to hang out and just enjoy the outdoors.

What a grand campground!! It was a gift from TVA in 1958 to the county for public use…read more Not only was there a campground, there was a day use beach & playground! We just spent 3 nights with two other families there. One family has two littles, one couple had their young grandson, and we are part time empty nesters. There is something for everyone!!! Lots of water for our kayaks, other's jet skis and of course several boat docks! The RV sites are good size, with water & electric. Tent camping sites looked pretty good as well. It is a truly hidden jewel so close to Chattanooga & Dayton TN. Been living in East TN for 21 years and never knew about this wonderful spot. We will be back!

They have covered all the details you normally would handle or research yourself, especially if you're from out of state like myself. If you don't have a vehicle or don't want to drive, pick up and drop off is included in the price. As long as you're staying in Downtown Chattanooga. An assortment of pre-packaged snacks & bottles of water are provided. They carry them while you hike so you don't need to! The bonus? They take professional photos of you on the hike to commemorate you & your group in action & posing! They have a quick turnaround also with access to your edited picture gallery. So no timer settings on cameras or one person out of the group pics! Oh! Best of all? The group hike is private! You won't have any randos with you! I had an awesome time! Communication was excellent from the time I inquired about booking a hike all the way through the end! They are highly responsive! I received confirmation via email & text. However, when I had questions I texted directly and a couple of days before the hike and the morning of the hike they sent me texts for updates. A waiver is required to be signed the day of the hike in person. Bug spray was provided prior to our hike. I chose to do the Soul therapy hike for my birthday because it offers a variety of scenery. It was one of my favorite hikes I've done over the years. It ranged from views above the falls down to close up views touching the water. Although, you can take a super short cut to the falls, it is still a steep path down into the gorge. We took the longer trail which is even more scenic involving various beautiful views and overlooks, tall walls of sandstone and one major steep descent of rocks into the gorge which requires a lot of careful footing placement & maybe 1-2 areas ( the rock wall or a random tree trunk) to hold onto for balance. Honestly, if I didn't have Hope & Ryan as guides and I was doing the hike on my own with just friends, I probably would have taken one look down that steep of a sea of rocks and said let's go another way. Hahaha.. But Hope was leading and offered her arm as balance support if needed, which I took a few times. Slow & steady my friends. Along the way, we also crossed two cool bridges as well. The falls were pretty and kind of reminded me of the Salto do Prego waterfall in Sao Miguel. It was a wonderful time with Hope & Ryan where we were able to learn about the area, the wildflowers and rest on the way back to our hotel in their nice, clean , comfortable and AC SUV while snacking on the way back & having good conversation. They also provide some coupons to local restaurants and shops, & an EXPERIENCE CHATTANOOGA sticker. They were kind enough to accommodate picking us up last minute at a local breakfast place that we had walked to from our hotel since, it was close to our pick up time. We really appreciated it! They offer many different hikes and different levels. If I had been there a whole week, I would have probably booked the all day waterfalls tour and the alpaca farm & coffee tour too! Be sure to check out their website! They provide in depth descriptions of their different hikes. Also, some hikes are only done certain days of the week so make sure to check for their availability! Military discounts & discounts for groups over a certain number are offered. Just be sure to mention it to them prior to payment.

I heard a man in his grandson owned this Marina, and that just sounded good. The lady gave a 5…read morerating based on one day. I seriously doubt she still keeps a boat there today. If you want to know the truth about marina ask the tenants, ask the livaboards, ask a boat owners what they thought of the service. I asked at least 10 people they all said the same thing. When asked about the dock maintenance, they said if you want something fixed here you got to fix it yourself. The people at this Marina had only negative things to say. I would use direct quotes but I would have to use too much profanity. Many of the tenants here remain due to the lack of slips available at other marinas. He made the worst first impression of any man that I've ever met. He refused a handshake and then never looked me in the eye as he told me a different set of lies than what he told me on the phone. Mike Mann doesn't know what the term "boater courtesy" means. I was seeking service and possibly a slip. My boat had become disabled right outside of the Marina's entrance from the water. He refusing parking privileges in his life it was extremely unprofessional and rude. I gave the man a second chance and offered him $100 for parking privileges so that I may access my boat. He closed the door in my face and barked " your letting my air out"and that he would have me towed at my expense if I parked in his lot. I was appalled at the man's behavior. I am the grandson of the man who built many of the beautiful Chris-Craft boats that are still in service today. In my 51 years on the waters from the Colorado to the Tennessee River I've encountered many personalities. I gave Mike Mann another chance. I needed service and the repair required my boat to be out of the water. I talked to several of the men that worked in the shop. None of them knew anything about boats. I was alarmed. I observed them have a boat out of the water for 3 weeks to do a bottom paint. It takes one man 3 days in about 16 actual working hours to do this job. I asked another man who had the bottom of his boat finished here. He said it took over 2 months. This is a job that I have done dozens of times myself. It takes one man no more than 3 days. You can tell the men were struggling and they didn't know what they were doing. Observation strengthened my first impression. This is a poorly managed facility owned by a man that no one respects because of his shady business practices and disrespectful nature. There are docks in disrepair with sunken boats in the bottom of slips. The marina looks like a place where derelicts come to die owned by a man that doesn't care. if someone hadn't told me I would have never guessed this man to be the owner. Given the poor treatment I received the poor service I observed and the testimonies of at least 10 other boat owners that have boats here.. It saddens me, but I have to give this Marina zero Stars. If if there is an investor out there that's interesting in opening Marina we need you in Tennessee. Every Marina from Blue water to the Chickamauga dam is it maximum capacity. there is a 2-year wait on average to get a slip and up to 70 boats in line and few places that offer service.. i would recommend Erwin Marina at the Chickamauga dam. The marina is very well maintained, the staff knowledgeable and experienced. I'm a carpenter and several of my customers slip boats at the Erwin Marina. My friends at this Marina say it cost a little bit more but that's because it's worth it. I saw nothing that even vaguely resembles a yacht at the Big Ridge Yacht club. I found it to be a poorly maintained Marina ran by man that does not know the meaning of the word courtesy. It saddens me as a boatsman, but I have to give this Marina zero Stars. I can't think of anything good I can say about it. If you want to know the truth about a marina, ask the liveaboards that have been there for a while. They're an excellent source of information and most will be completely honest with you as that is a boater courtesy. I am still anchored out, id rather weather the storms slip a boat at big ridge. I need service. I will not seek it at this Marina. This is an honest and accurate non-biased report of my experience. The boat that is disabled is a houseboat bought as a gift for my mother. My boat is a beautiful Trojan f26 that I live aboard year round completely independent of a marina. I hope this was helpful and saves someone from having a bad marina experience.
