It took us a minute to get the dogs up the stairs. The conductor was helpful. He help the leashes while I carried them up the stairs. My dogs had a great time .they sat with their heads out the window. Wind blowing in their ears. At the rest stop. In the redwoods. I took my dogs for a very short walk along the trail. Not 5 minutes into the walk , I spotted a big tick on my dogs leg. We immediately headed back to the train. I spent a few minutes brushing them , while checking for ticks. I really appreciated that they even had a designated area for children under 3 years old--my grandkids had such a great time! They sell water, snacks, and even wine on the train, and having a bathroom on board was definitely a plus. There was also live entertainment, with someone playing guitar and singing, which made the ride even more enjoyable. 10/10, I definitely recommend!

The only thing I wish they had at the meetup area/parking lot was a physical example of the storage basket on the bikes so that people could get a visual on what they could fit on there and have an opportunity to stash some items back in their car if it wouldn't fit. Customer service is top notch because they are responsive via phone and ensured that we got our lunch order in. Our guides Travis and Atlas were amazing and the confidence in their work really showed. I didn't realize their commentary during the experience was scripted (down to the jokes!) until I caught a repeat joke made, but I actually appreciate Skunk Train's efforts on consistent customer experience. The Railbikes on the Noyo experience is definitely a splurge, but I think it's worth the spend considering it's essentially a full day excursion and includes a sack lunch (you get to keep the lunchbox and the most adorable pin). We were in a rush heading back up the hill since it ran a tad late, so we unfortunately didn't realize we had left our lunchbags (with the pins still inside!) on our bike seats until we were long gone. My boyfriend reached out to Skunk Train regarding replacements and thankfully they were so understanding. Unfortunately he forgot to ask about the pins too so I am absolutely still devastated about that. Overall, I had a fantastic experience. Skunk Train also offers other excursions including shorter and more affordable options, but I'm glad I chose the Railbikes on the Noyo because it's perfect for couples and the amount of time spent on the rail was just enough and satisfying.

I love this little town. Highway 101 used to run right through town, until it was bypassed by a…read morefreeway in 2016. The town took a hit for a while, but it seems to be doing pretty well now. It's a lot more quiet now, without all of that traffic going through town. A lot of people still stop to eat, stay, and of course catch the skunk train, which is the big tourist attraction here in town. I often stop and stay myself, when I'm on my way up to Humboldt County. A lot of the town is mom and Pop businesses, but they do have your McDonald's, BK, Taco Bell, etc. There is a decent sized Safeway with a pharmacy, a dollar tree, among other shopping options. Places to stay range from your little mom and Pop roadside motels, to higher end properties. Besides fast food, restaurants range from American, to Mexican, to Chinese, there's even a very decent little Indian place in town. Gas prices in town are very comparable to Ukiah, up the road. If you want to test your luck, there's also a small Native American casino in town. One of the coolest things in town, is the old Reno arch, which straddled Virginia Street, welcoming people to "the biggest little city in the world", from 1963 to 1987. After the new arch went up, and the old arch came down in Reno, a local resident wrote to the Reno city Council about acquiring the arch. His father, a local real estate agent, always called Willis "the gateway to the redwoods", and. "The heart of Mendocino County." Reno agreed to Willits taking the arch as a "long-term loan", and it took five years to get it standing in town, but now it stands tall over Main Street, welcoming everybody to town. If you get a chance, get off the freeway and check this little town out. It's a great place.

They are price-pointed very closely perhaps with Woodrose rearer the top by small amount. IMHO? Worth it. Friendly, clean and surprisingly quiet, given its proximity to the busy highway. AJ was a friendly and welcoming host whom I look forward to seeing again soon.

Suggestions for improvements would be to just keep things maintained. Don't put a sign on something if it is broke, fix it. Way too many signs about everything. Make a disc golf map. Post the Skunk train schedule so we know when to go to the depot. Keep the mini-golf area nice. Make improvements. Actually put up a basketball hoop. Put up a volleyball net and weed the court.

Great fun on the way there but when we sat down, I got nervous about the walk home. I called Redwood taxi and left a message. Just moments later I got a call back and set up a ride for after dinner. He told me to call him when we would be ready. I did and he showed up a couple minutes later to "rescue" us. :) We seriously need to support having this local service. Much needed and much appreciated!
