We loved staying at The Old West Inn. Roshan and his family are delightful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The inn was cozy, and the parking lot was well-lit. Willits is a great place to stay to access Mendocino, The Redwoods, and some wine country. Talk to Roshan about getting tickets for the, "Skunk Train". There are family train rides, or adults-only rides with a bartender. Overall, a great stay at a reasonable price. If you are trying to pick between a stay here, or somewhere near Eureka, stay here. The couch chair and desk chair had cloth upholstery and were badly stained. We did not use them and lacked space to settle our things down onto. This set the tone for our first impression and it wasn't good. Also old rough fleece for a blanket is not personally preferred. The front desk woman was also not very welcoming granted it was 10:30pm. However, the shower pressure was great. The general layout of this little inn is cute. Who the heck goes to Willits for a fun adventure??? *Crickets, crickets* I had a spontaneous idea on a Friday night to go to Trillium Falls in Orick because of a gorgeous picture on Facebook. Unfortunately, it was seven hours away, so no one wanted to drive that far at night. Since my man happily considered driving the four of us if we could stay somewhere in between, I frantically looked on Orbitz while we texted back and forth where we could stop off. Woo hoo! Score! I found this charming motel with an old "Western" theme. The office was closed when we arrived around 11 pm, but a window was open to check-in. The woman who helped me was friendly and welcoming. I was surprised she wasn't grouchy since it was late! I'm so glad there was a room available with 3 beds!! The girls always fight when we're away on vacation since they hate sharing a bed. The room was spacious and spotless! There was a microwave that we didn't use and a fridge that kept our food and drinks cold. We were given breakfast vouchers at Lumberjack's for both days we stayed. Adorable motel that's clean, comfortable, cute, and pretty modestly priced for the kind of "motel overhaul for the vibes and the 'gram" that it is. I love the old west theming to a stupid degree, which is what it's here for. Our room was spotless. Some furniture is a little old, but hey, it's a motel in a remote small town, not the Ritz. Beds were comfortable and bedding was clean. Pillows were ample. Walls are apparently thick, as it was full but very quiet. The hot water works, the ice machine works, and the refrigerator works once you turn it on. The AC also works well. Television had good channels and didn't require any weird tricks to make it work. Wifi is free and good. This is an absolute find and I would totally do it again. read more

We just spent 2 fun days at this wonderful place! Don't be fooled by the modest price or the somewhat plain first impression. When you get to your room, it is more than charming and fun! We were greeted by the owners and they are so very warm and welcoming. So helpful with information for us as were new to Willets. The place was very clean and they have gone out of their way to make it comfortable. Little extras like 5 dollar breakfast offered and nice touches in the room like frig,microwave, even makeup towelettes. You can feel the thoughtfulness they have for their guests! This is a very clean, quite little homie feeling Inn. Casual but nice. The front desk lady was very nice and smiled at my sillyness. And had a nice sense of humor. Loved how they have the shower curtain because it loops away from you so it doesn't touch you while showering and gives you plenty of room to move around. So cute! My boys and I unexpectedly had to stop here for the night at 10pm. We had our dog. After calling a few other places this place made an exception since we would be leaving early to get back on the road. I didn't realize how cute it was until the morning. The room was clean and they had a cute mini garden in the corner of the parking lot. Comfortable beds, nice shower head. If we ever need to pit stop again in willits it will definitely be at the old west inn. Owners we very nice. The only reason for 4 starts was the cost. They didn't honor the internet amount. Only an additional $20 charge for the dog. We checked in at 10pm checked out by 8:30. They offered $5 breakfast at a local restaurant. read more

We pulled in late in the evening and were easily accommodated by the kind owners. The room was spacious, quiet and comfortable for three of us. I am super picky about cleanliness and have to stay this is one of the cleanest hotels or motels I have ever stayed in (including international five star hotels). The beds were comfy and the shower had endless hot water and great water pressure. While we didn't use the charging stations, they are a huge bonus. I love supporting family owned businesses where the income generated supports the community, and it is obvious this business fits that bill. read more

We go to Blue Lakes for a family get together on the 4th of July, but normally don't stay there. Last year we stayed at the Robinson Rancheria Casino. Never again. Every meth head from Clearlake is in and out of that place. I found this place here on Yelp and it looked pretty cool. It's older but has been nicely updated and is super clean. The rooms are good sized and the bed very comfortable. I'm sure we will stay here on future trips. It has an electric or plug-in charging station for your car is needed. To be honest the location and value and cost are Very Similar to surrounding lodgings. Where they are VERY DiFFERENT is in 1## ONE arena. Customer service! SERVICE IS AWFUL HERE!! I will start with the Very COLD reception upon arrival. After an exhausting drive with my newborn little girl, I called to inquire about the price and availability for the evening. I was told $99 for the nite plus tax. I arrived about 10min later and expressed my delight to finally get some rest after an exhausting drive. Lets just say her greeting would be comparable to that of an interview with Jeffrey Dahlmer or John Gacy; Cold, Distant, Callus and LACKING any Empathy at ALL.! She stated that the price would be $140 plus tax for the evening. Naturally, I assumed she did NOT realize that I was the same person she had just spoken to on the phone. So, I mentioned that I was just qouted $99 by her over the phone. She seemed bothered and inconvenienced to say the least!! And, in line with her prior performance she unapologetically said "that rate is NOT available." Honestly, I cant understand why you would treat people this way. I've worked in the service industry over 20years and have never found myself treating a complete stranger this way, especially a potential customer!!! Needless to say, I WONT EVER STAY HERE!!!¡¡¡¡!!!!!!!! Trust me! THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER GREAT PLACES TO STAY HERE!! read more

What a darling inn! Cute theme and well maintained. The manager, Roshan and staff are friendly and very accommodating. Prior to our arrival they asked if there was anything they could do to make our stay more comfortable. They also sent us useful information for places to eat and things to do in the area. My family and I had been traveling all day. We were checking in late and were so exhausted, we didn't have the energy to stop and eat dinner on the way here. Thankfully, the hotel has Sapna's Kitchen, where sisters Payal and Sapna had my pre-ordered, homemade dinner cooking for me when I arrived! These ladies waited up until I got here after hours to make sure my meal was freshly prepared, served hot and delivered to my room. The naan was even steaming! It was the most delicious Indian food I've tasted. My son and I "fought" over the last bit of Chana Masala. :) I am grateful for the kindness we experienced at The Old West Inn. Thank you! Owners were kind enough to lend us a yoga mat when we checked into our room and found only cold wood-patterned vinyl flooring on a chilly night. The room and bathrooms were spotless, A+ on cleanliness. But the bed was awful. It was not only just a full sized when we booked a queen, it was cold with a thin blanket and a slippery synthetic bedcover. Worst was a box spring that creaked with every tiny move and the sound amplified through the pillows to sound like popping fireworks. No sleep for us all night. read more

Was looking online after driving all day and booked through Travelocity. Reviews looked good so I shelled out a little more $ for this place as you usually get what you pay for. I greeted the desk lady she didn't greet me. I was treated like I was in a hotel that rents by the hour, I am military and maybe look like a bad guy ‍ but I smiled said hello and was still treated bad (wonder if I brought my wife and kid with me inside if I would have had the same treatment?) regardless when you have owners working the front desk (she came from the attached house so this is my assumption) they generally see the worst and sometimes don't like the people that pay for their livelihood. The 100$ deposit I was under the impression Travelocity took out already which I articulated to her but the way she told me it was required and needed was like "pay the 100$ or get the hell out" Room was okay (clean if your standards are low) bed made, fresh towels. Dirty doors, floors etc. our bathtub didn't drain.......by time my wife showered it was about 6" and was still clogged when we left. Cute themed place that is suffering from mismanagement from customer service to the state of the facilities. Could be a great place. Hire someone nice for the front desk and manage your maids / maintenance guy and you'll go far. read more

Super bummer to hear that much car noise... front desk said "you can't hear the cars after 9 .." yeah no the highway is still open at 9. My family camps out at the local KOA every year, we decided to do hotel rather than camping and found The Old West Inn. Couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. It is an adorable place where rooms wrap around a courtyard with an old west town theme. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, comfy mattress and plump pillows. Bathroom was well stocked and clean...showers, of course never have enough water pressure in California hotels, but that's not their fault. we enjoyed the $5 voucher to the Lumberjacks restaurant just a few blocks away. Plenty of delicious food, my wife had oatmeal and toast...I had Pancake, egg, sausage and coffee. plenty of food for $5. Staff was pleasant, I left behind a pill container and the owner called to see if I wanted it mailed to me. This is a gem of a place, highly recommended. read more

Don't be fooled by the front that faces the road, once you come into the car park around back it's ultra clean, lots of exterior cameras to make sure your vehicle is safe. Friend and I are traveling through in the 101 and decided to find a place to stop for the night. Pulled up yelp and found the reviews for The Old West Inn and decided to check it out, even though we were of course a little hesitant. Check in was a breeze. Friendly staff. We were given the livery stable room. No idea what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The room is clean and spacious. My usual concern with motels and hotels is bathrooms and glad to say the bathroom was very clean and has nice flooring that looks almost new. Shower water pressure was good. Plenty of towels. Conclusion, we would 100% stay here again anytime we happen to be in the area. If you're looking for a place to stay, I would definitely recommend this motel. read more

We checked into Old West Inn after the most terrifying twenty minutes of my life. It had started raining after we left Windsor but it wasn't until we hit right before Willits that the rain became so hard visability shrunk to about 10%. After telling the honey I'd prefer if we got off the road, I did a Yelp search for the closest hotel to us at that moment. Old West Inn was the first choice in our Yelp search, and the cheapest and highest rated when we called a couple nearby hotels. $71 dollars later and we were checked into the very cutely themed locale. Our room boasted a cute little bar and the room down the hall had a couple little barber poles. The honey loved the room's TV and it came with a fridge and microwave (the vending machine had pop corn). The service was shy and quiet but between being really thankful we'd stopped and the cuteness of the themes we were happy to be there. We'd definitely stay again. read more

The Old West Inn has since been sold and the NEW owners have done an INCREDIBLE job renewing and updating EVERYTHING thing within this hotel. Gone are the oldest days of awful depressing rooms and HERE are the days of clean and well made rooms. You can't go wrong staying here if you happen to be staying in Willits. read more

We got into the hotel late night, and had no problem checking in and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were also very impressed with their information guide in the room. What I am a little confused about is the themed rooms. We stayed in room 108, the "blacksmith" room which was anything but, just a basic room with fairly new updates to the fixtures, bedding and furniture but still had a outdated air conditioner system, peeling wooden shelves and really needed some more artwork on the walls or some kind of decor. What concerned us the most was the floors, they were a new cheaper laminate, with a gray 'faux' hardwood that were incredibly dirty. I had spilled some water on one area and wiped it up and you can see the photo how much dirt came off. I wouldn't recommend you walk around barefoot either straight out of the shower! The bottoms of our feet were both filthy when we sat down to put on our shoes. I'm assuming because of the color of the floors the dirt is hidden really well. I did tell the girl at the counter when checking out and showed the photo of the paper towel and told her I was concerned and said she was very sorry and apologized several times. Hopefully they can take care of those floors soon and add some rugs too! A lot more comfortable to walk on that way. read more

It was very cute, inside [comfortable lace canopy bed], and outside [Old West themed rooms, with placards for hotel, bank, bakery, etc.] The room was large and well appointed, with bed, desk, easy chair, cable TV, heater, mini fridge, and microwave oven. This was especially nice, as I eat a Vegan diet, and shopped for groceries on my drive up from Oakland Airport. The room was very clean, and everything worked properly. It is a small [18-20 room], family run [from India] hotel. The owners were very gracious and helpful. When I requested an extra blanket, they saw to it quickly. When I was to meet someone at the hotel, the owner sought me out and greeted me by name. The hotel was easy walking distance into the business district of town. They do not support outgoing long distance calls, but I was easily able to receive incoming calls from my wife and my brother to the desk phone in my room. The wireless internet was fast and easy to connect. The stay was very comfortable, and represented excellent value. read more

We stayed here overnight on the way to the Redwoods. A family of 7, from Utah of course! We enjoyed our stay here and the area and campus is very clean and safe. They have nice beds and cozy rooms. Nice shower with great pressure. The theme of Wild West was fun. We stayed in the "Bakery". There was also surveillance security cameras for the parking lot and lit lights so I felt safe not having to monitor my vehicle. They also give a voucher to get a $5 breakfast meal at a near Lumberjacks Restaurant we we thoroughly enjoyed! If we're in Willits again, we know where we will be staying. read more
