First off, this review is from Summer 2025. This will explain why older reviews might be worse. Why 4 stars, not 5, not 3? Let's start with the Locale. Willits is a logical stopping point on the way to the Redwoods, the coast, the Skunk Train etc. However, this is a one horse town pa'tner. In the olden days,The highway used to go right through it and was dotted with motels on it. This motel was here then. You will enjoy this place if you set your expectations correctly. As of June 2025, this is a newly renovated mid century motel. The rooms are very nice and match the website. So, i took a couple of shots outside the rooms. If you have a young family or a pet, it's hard to beat in this town. Location is not walkable to too much, Taco Bell, McDonald's etc. Oh, no breakfast as there is no lobby. read more

Stayed at the Woodrose recently for a few days. This little independently owned motor inn is quiet, clean and comfortable. Its been completely remodeled inside and out. I was greeted within a moment of ringing the bell, the manager was helpful and kind. He had me checked in within a minute or two. A single level old school motel, park at your door. With a swimming pool and enclosed parking lot. Private and secure. Right on the main drive in town, within walking distance to several restaurants and services. My king bed room was comfortable and quiet, the interior well appointed and clean. A nice shower with decent water pressure. Coffee station, all kinds of USB and power charging points in the room. We booked via booking.com and everything went smoothly. We brought two small dogs and love that this place is dog-friendly. Check-in was fast and our room was spacious and clean. It's conveniently located near the Wolf Tree Turn with Skunk Train. read more

A month later I noticed I was charged for incidentals of $100 when I called to question it I was told because there were bugs on the top sheet then I was hung up on so then I called back and then I was hung up on again so then I called back again after canceling my credit card that was on file at that fraudulent motel and then they said that there was damage to a sheet which there was no damage to anything because I have pictures of everything. This motel is fraudulent. They tried to charge me for damage that was not done and when I told them I would get a lawyer he immediately refunded me. I would not stay at this place if I were you. read more

A hidden gem! The remodeled rooms are wonderful! Check in was simple. I didn't have a reservation so found this place on Hotel Tonight. The rate was great on the app then I get to the hotel and asked if I should book thru the app but their rate was cheaper!! First star! They allow pets!! Second and third star!! Walked in the room and no unusual smell, which is a BIG thing for me! Remodeled rooms are exactly as pictured. Great design. 4th star! Refrigerator, microwave, Nespresso machine deserving of a 5th star! This is my go to since I travel monthly to this area! Rooms are exactly as are pictured. Love there is no carpet! Reasonably priced motel on our way up to the Redwoods NP. The room was large (we had the handicap accessible room, so not sure if all of the rooms are as spacious) and had everything we needed, except that the mini-fridge did not have a freezer section. I did notice a few stains on my duvet, it didn't seem like it was dirty but more just untreated stains that could use some bleach. Check in was quick and easy, as was checkout. read more

We stayed at the woodrose for a few days. The check in was easy, they even had a treat bag for our dog with a few treats and a toy. The room was clean and smelled great. The staff checked in with us to make sure our stay was going good and offered food suggestions. I highly recommend staying at the woodrose. read more

Great room. Spacious and very nicely laid out. We chose it because it was pet friendly. Great room for having a pet with no carpet. Looks old fashioned on the outside but the inside is quite chic. Liked parking at the door. Easy to unload the car. Easy to go in and out with the puppy. Check in was quick and efficient. Clerk friendly and polite. Loved it!! read more

The Woodrose is a wonderful place to stay. The staff is amazing, they're incredibly helpful and attentive to their guests. The room renovations give it a fun "boutique hotel" vibe. Cleanliness is top-notch. Not only were they clean, but smelled fresh upon entering. We came up with two other families who also stayed at The Woodrose and we all had a great experience. Took my wife here for day two of her birthday, and when she first pulled in, she had an unimpressed look, and I was smirking inside, because I had done my research. The office for check in is super small, so she continued to give me 'the look', but it all went well. When we finely went to the room, I got the 'Wooooooow' I had been waiting for. It's a really pleasant roadside motel. Room was super clean and the staff was nice. As the checkin day approached they texted me a welcome message and gave us some recommendations on local restaurants and activities. They'd text me follow up during our stay to see if we needed any further assistance. Fortunately we didn't have any issues so I didn't have to reach out to them, but it was reassuring that they were eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Superb customer care! My first few experiences when this place was first opened some years ago was great. It's the reason we decided to stay here again. Big mistake as sadly, there was an apathy that we hadn't seen previously. We were in town for my mother-in-law's burial at sea and this lodging experience added to the dismal mood. There was an obvious stain on our comforter. It took a while before we received a replacement one (do they not have any other clean ones on hand?). But the main reason for this bad review was the wait for towels. There are 4 people on our reservations, but 2 shower towels. No big deal, as we asked for more. But when we ask a little before 8 pm so we could shower after a long day, we were told they were coming. After almost an hour wait (we were told it would take 15 min because they were in the dryer), still no towels. We were so tired of waiting we had to go to my in-laws house to get towels. I'm not sure if we were made to deliberately wait or they really had no clean towels available but it is unacceptable service. The person working had no apologies and didn't seem to care. Highly encourage future visitors to find another place to stay. read more

This used to be a pretty good place when it first opened up, but you could tell that they're letting it go. The management over the last six months is terrible. When I went to check in, the guy said the last time I was there the room smelled like cigarette smoke. I haven't had a cigarette over 14 years so I was extremely upset. When we got into the room, there were stains on the comforter. It took him about an hour to bring me a new comforter. When we sat on the bed, you could tell the bedframe was broken. He was gonna give me a different room, but that bed was worse than the bed we had. But the kicker was when we got back from dinner at 7:45 PM I asked for some towels and he said he would bring them to my room. 30 minutes went by, and I went back to the front desk where he came out and said." I told you I would bring them to your room." I said OK well, how long is that gonna be? He said 15 to 20 minutes. This was at 8:15 PM. Finally 9 PM came around and still no towels. So I went to the front desk and he said they just got out of the dryer. I went to a different hotel and bought two towels from them instead. Then the manager showed up at 9:30 PM and asked if I still wanted the towels. Not to mention the Wi-Fi was nowhere to be found the entire night. Instead of staying one more night we checked out the next morning and went down to the Hampton Inn in Ukiah. I paid $50 more for the night and got free breakfast for me and my family, pool hot tub and a room with a balcony. There's a koi pond with fish, coffee/tea and fruit available all day. Extra towels weee given to me on the spot and the WiFi was perfect! read more

We were very pleased with this property. Wonderful accommodations with very cute and modern decor. The Woodrose was in communication with us via text the day before, on, and after our visit to ensure all our needs were met. When we arrived the receptionist was very pleasant and welcoming with a speedy check-in (as we did arrive late into the evening). I will book again! read more
