I'm a big fan of tacos, but every now and then, it's great to mix things up--and this spot gave me that change of pace I was looking for. It wasn't a busy night, so we ended up getting to enjoy the live music almost like a private show. That part really stood out--the band brought a warm energy to the room, and it made the whole evening feel more intimate and memorable. The service was genuinely great. Our server was friendly, attentive, and took time to explain that the menu was Cuban-inspired, which was a good heads-up. That explained some of the differences in flavor and presentation, and helped manage expectations about what ingredients or sides might be missing compared to more traditional Latin or Caribbean places. It had comfy seats abound and the best bartenders in the entire resort! Leonardo was fantastic! Just like everywhere else in Playacar Palace, you could order any drink your heart desired. If you ask for tequila, they'll probably give you cheaper stuff like Jose Cuervo or some house brand. But if you say to them you want the Don Julio, 1800 or whatever other brand, they will gladly serve you that. They have a variety of seating from comfy couches that look like they are swings to single seating cushy chairs. It was hard for us to get together a big group for like 30 to sit but they didn't seem to mind us moving things around too much. Not only do they have the bar & all the seating but also a few pool tables on the side for game playing. The music ranged from good to great but they would also let us put on our own stuff which was very accomodating. It seemed that each night they had something going on - either a fire show, a circus, or a band. My group was not a fan when the band was playing because it was just SO loud, we couldn't talk at all. The band was great and if you just want to sit & chill out enjoying the music, it'll be great for you. But if you want to socialize, you may want to drink at another resort bar until they are done playing. I have to emphasize again how great the staff here is. Post a beach wedding, my group went here one night shoeless. Clumsy, slightly inebriated me stepped on a glass someone broke and my foot started gushing blood! The entire staff was fabulous about taking care of me, making sure all was okay and even the next day ensuring everything was fine. Given the delay, lack of seating, and overall disorganization, we decided not to order any late night food. I ordered a margarita, and it was honestly one of the worst margaritas I've had. Very heavy on sweet and sour, clearly not made in house, with a weak pour. Prices felt steep for the quality being delivered. Oddly enough, the highlight of the visit was people watching. The vibe is... strange. While waiting in line for the bathroom, someone who frequents the bar mentioned it's known locally as a swingers spot. The crowd skewed heavily 60+, but hey, whatever works.
