This place is legit. Came here for lunch with my family, and it was solid. The place sits right on the beach, so if photos are your thing, you'll be in good shape. I went with the steak tacos and walked it down with a strawberry mezcal drink. It was delicious! My daughter had a cheeseburger which was massive and also tasty. The total bill came to ~$100 USD which was a perfect price point for the portions and food quality. And the grub came out QUICK. Service was decent. We came here during the day to hangout for a few hours by the water and have lunch. It's walkable from the downtown area. I wanted to swim while we were there but unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating. The service was a little slow but the food and drinks were all very good and the food portions were. So the other day, we went down to Hemingway's, and the view was spectacular. Nestled down on the water, you really couldn't wish for a better spot to check out the ocean in the evening. Now of course, Hemingway's does have access to the water, but it doesn't really have beach, just a rocky shore. Also, there was a bit of funky smell coming from the other end of the deck, so we did have to move a few times. However, the surprise of the day was their fondu-like dish of melted cheese and tortillas; it was sort of a build your own quesadilla. It was 100% cheesy goodness. I'd definitely return to this spot. I suspect the funky smell has more to do with the monsoon weather that Cozumel has had as of late, and next time will most likely be better. read more

This is a great spot near the Northern Hotel Zone. It is definitely off of the beaten path, and that is what I liked about it! There were lots of people there the days I was there, but it was not too terribly crowded. The bartenders are quick and friendly, and the DJ was top notch...especially when I was there on New Year's Eve! And...they have a resident gato! The location was good for us because it was not right in the middle of the busy town area. It was a little further down and closer to the hotel we stayed at. There was street parking. It is right on the water, which has a pretty view. It was chilly at night with the wind from the water. Our dinner was good, but this was not our favorite spot. We had the burger, which was big enough for us to split. The food was tasty and plentiful. There was a restaurant side, which also had little tables with lights. There was also a side with music and lights. There is a great photo opportunity by the water with a light-up heart. It looks like a fun place to go dance or listen to music. We were here on a Thursday evening and were also able to watch a live band while having a sunset. Ambiance/Service: We were on the lower level with all of the couches, etc. Extremely comfortable setting and a very neat vibe. Good music, live music, etc. The service staff was also very friendly and helpful. Food/Drinks: We ordered a lot of different drinks and they were all very good from their wine, beer, and cocktails. We only had their guacamole, however, it was very tasty, so I imagine some of their other stuff is pretty good as well. This is a fun place. It's on the water and there is a heart sign you can take a photo with. The ambiance is really good. The Hemingway daiquiri is really good and my friends said all their drinks were good too. There are only certain drinks available for ladies' night so be sure to ask before you order. You can get large salmon or tuna tostadas. + Large sofas to lounge CONS: + If you're looking for a "chill" place, this is not it. They will blast music even when everything is super empty (lol) + I had a guy approach me and I was SUPER scared. We called management to step in, and they talked to him but kept serving him beers. I'm not sure what to read into this situation, but it cut my time short here. I don't know how this reflects on rest of the restaurant, so I did not include this when counting their review. Overall, I think Hemingway is a nice easy place to hang if you need to pass by the afternoon, and hopefully won't get an encounter I got. read more

Pros: great view, restaurant is pretty. Cons: food took 30 minutes, in that time our server never came to check in on us for drinks or to let us know food was taking some time. It was 3 of us. Our kid didn't order anything big either. The restaurant was empty. Our food was cold, like it had been sitting out. At the end, they demanded a 20% tip. Even though they checked in twice for the 1hour & ten minutes we were there. We were only there so long because our food took 30 minutes and the guy took 40 minutes after we ate to come and check on us for the bill. We only took a few bites of our food and decided we'd lie & say the food was good and pay but go eat somewhere else. The fact that both of us looked at each other and said, "this isn't very good." We laughed it off though because we figured after we paid, we'd go somewhere else. No biggie. But the server didn't come check back for another 40 minutes. We kept trying to find him. After all this, the server said, "we don't do 10% tips here. You have to tip 20%." We ended up tipping 15% because we felt forced because two of the Servers came up to us like they were his body guards, but the server didn't even say thank you. Just glared at us as we walked out. Not ok. 20% is if the service is good. read more

Can't believe I am the first person to review this place on Yelp! This place was such a pleasant surprise as we were walking along the water in downtown Cozumel. We stopped because we were actually on a cruise, and had spent the previous day in Cuba, and had visited Hemingway's Havana home... so how fitting it was to be able to stop at a bar named Hemingway on that same trip. We decided to splurge while there and treated ourselves to a spiny lobster... it was SO good. Great sunset location... don't think twice about ordering the Lobster- DO IT! Lobsters are sold by the gram, average cost of a lobster will run you around 50 (USD) bucks... We ordered the big daddy for 100 bucks and it fed two people with lobster still left in the tail! SO fresh, sold live right out of the tank! Great lounge, great service!
