The place is beautiful on the inside with a bar that is so stocked I really don't know how the bartenders find stuff amongst the million bottles lol. The servers were all nice, we were the only table there at around 2pm. We really just went for drinks but they gave us some shrimp soup and then put salsas down on our table and we almost felt obligated to get something to eat. Tried getting the soft crab tacos but they didn't have it so we got pork tacos and they were very average. My friend got the gorditas and liked them. The guac on the gorditas had grasshoppers in it. Quite the experience. Drinks were really good and great presentation.

We went to this amazing restaurant for my birthday. Let's start with the service...AMAZING! My guest and I had two servers and they were so nice. (They even referred us to some great night spots after.). The wait for the food was long, but IT WAS WORTH IT! I ordered the fried whole fish, it's snapper, and it comes with spinach. It has got to be the freshest fish I've had in awhile. All of my guest ended up eating my plate. My friends and family ordered lobster tacos, rice and plantains, and grilled jumbo shrimp. Everything was amazing. We ended up sharing plates because everyone's food was perfect! The drinks were also amazing.

Not cheap (approx US prices), but classy establishment with great food and drinks. We had the steak, fish of the day (grouper - delicious meaty white fish), pork taco appetizer, and mashed potatoes (highly recommend, even coming from a non-potato girl). The pina colada was a little sweet for my liking. The fun part was that the restaurant took a photo of us in the middle of our course, and later came with it printed in a frame and on a tequila bottle for purchase (negotiate the price!).

Classy spot in the heart of La Quinta Avenida in Playa. One of the few places in town where the bartender will make a decent drink. The place is hopping on any given night with large screens playing latin music videos and mariachi roaming around playing tunes. There are nice views of La Quinta all around, as the bar-restaurant is located on the second floor of the building. Make sure you get table away from the kitchen area...it can get really hot there! The vibes are good here but we thought the pricing was a little on the higher side (similar to U.S. pricing) for what they offered. Also, service was good but a little on the slower side. This could be the kitchen and not the servers. One suggestion to the bar...y'all need bigger olives in the dirty gin martinis! 3.8 Stars.

Check this place great margs and cocktail quality. The drink prices don't reflect so don't be led wrong. Hit it up, order some food and enjoy the awinds

I am really glad my husband and I gave this place a chance. We were put off by the 2 1/2 stars but our hotel supervisor Sinahi at the Thompson said it had the best soup and service ever. So confused about the reviews saying the service was bad... we had 5 star service even though it was a slow lunch. From replacing each piece of silverware during each course to making sure our table was immaculate throughout, the staff worked hard to make our meal special. A fresh bottle of wine was presented to me for my glass of sauv blanc and opened at the table. My husbands tortilla soup was poured from a terrine tableside. The food was legit, the service was great. Please try this place and don't be discouraged by the reviews!

Birthday dinner dine in. Wait staff super nice, language barrier posed some issues when ordering but we were successful after all. A shrimp based soup comes complimentary with your entree, the flavor was strong with some spice, but very tasty. We requested rice to balance the flavor. The Red Snapper was a table fav!! It comes with a bed of crisp spinach which was a perfect combination. The lobster tacos have a big kick, not sure from what but it was just okay. The Grilled Shrimp comes with a cucumber salad and rice. The shrimp were not very flavorful but went well with the platter and shrimp soup. Drinks were all made well, old fashioned has a nice sweet taste but still strong. Cumber margarita was very different, but surely the best.

Went for drinks and they were great! Had the avocado martini and a few others. The bar tenders were awesome and made all kinds of drinks for us. The vibe was great and so was the service.

The first time it was just for some drinks and then we ate here on New Years Eve. Our bartender was Frank and our server was Esencia Vital. Both were friendly and helpful. We ordered 4 things and all of them were pretty good. We got the Tempura Oysters which were excellent and not greasy at all. The Tiradito Boticario was my favorite. Great texture and flavor without being overwhelmed with sauce. The Camarones Boticario were also quite good. My wife had the Ceviche Boticario and said it was on point. I drank mostly beer which was Corona and I had a glass of white wine. The wine list was limited but they really specialize in their drinks which looked fantastic. We would recommend this place to anyone.

It was very refreshing, well balanced and came in a really cool glass! My second drink was the "Amarra Hombres Cascados". Gin, Aperol, grapefruit juice. It too hit the spot on a really hot day. Definitely a place we will hit when we need a good cocktail!

Wish I got the tasting menu but I opted for 3 of the specialties instead and they were delicious... Tasting menu is best value tho! Okay, where do I start…read more I made a reservation about a month before our trip, they were already pretty booked so I made a 4:45pm. I somehow missed that the coursed meal doesn't start until 6...and we didn't realize until same day. They couldn't rebook us until 9PM but told us to swing by early to see if they could get us in AND THEY DID. It was a Christmas miracle. And I'm glad they did because the whole experience was about 2.5 hours from start to finish. The place isn't very big, but is beautiful inside. They have an awesome bar and and open kitchen so you can see everything. It's a really neat place. We were seated pretty quick once they got the table cleaned, and then were greeted by our waitress. When we told her we were there for the 8 course meal, they switched waiters on us, and then the upselling started. Right off the bat they tried to talk us into a cocktail...when we were doing a pairing with our meal. It took them a little time to get the meal going, and then between courses was a little hit or miss. Sometimes it was free flowing and sometimes it took 10-15 minutes to get our next dish. The food. We were a little nervous we would leave still a little hungry but I assure you, you will not. For ~$100USD each, you get so much food, and a drink with every course. It was fantastic and so worth it. Here were the courses and pairings (that I can remember lol): 1. We started with the dips - a bean dip with cheese sauce and guacamole with crickets. Very classic, very well done. The crickets added a nice, nutty flavor. I was a huge fan of the beans with their blue corn tostadas, so much flavor. They also had a third dip that was pumpkin seed based, it was good but not as memorable. Their hot sauces came out with this course. It was paired with a house mezcal (with salts, cucumber, and orange) that was incredible and smooth. 2. Shrimp ceviche which was super refreshing and flavorful. They paired this with sparkling wine. 3. Sea bass with a cream sauce and grapefruit. I'm not a huge fishy flavor person - my first bite had all three compnents and I thought it was delicious. My husband just had fish as his first bite and thought it a little fishy, but once we added everything else he agreed it was great. Three small pieces, so it was a nice course. Paired with a sauv blanc. 4. Roasted tomatoes in a mole sauce. A nice veggie course. I thought they were cooked well, nothing super fancy. Paired with a Chardonnay. 5. Cooked shrimp with potatoes. My husband called this a "filler" course - there wasn't much to it. The sauce had some greens in it but it was just something light and easy to serve. Can't remember the pairing here. 6. THE CARROTS. MY FAV THING. OMG. Literally so fresh, the perfect texture, and the sauces. I could have eated a whole bowl with this one. Paired it with a red blend. 7. Cow tongue. I forgot a photo. I was starting to get drunk, I'm sorry. Paired with a red wine. This was tender, the sauce was delicious. If you're not used to beef tongue, please don't let it scare you. It was amazing. 8. Dessert. Also amazing. I think it was paired with a sweet red but....a little drunk here...we got a cheesecake which was more on the savory side, super unique, and so delicious. I was a huge fan. We also got a passion fruit custard and I'm a SUCKER for passion fruit. This was phenomenal. The food was INCREDIBLE. And such an amazing experience. And now the loss of a star. I hit on the service a little, but there was also some upselling which we don't love, especially at what is supposed to be michelin recognized. We often try Michelin recognized when we travel and the upselling was unexpected, I undertsand the culture down here, but still. ALSO we LOVED the house mezcal so much we asked for another shot ($280 pesos/shot). When we got the bill, the waiter upcharged to one of the most expensive mezcals on their menu ($520 pesos/shot) and refused to change it. We spent $60 on two shots after paying for our 8-course meal. It honestly was SUCH a dissapointing end to our meal and felt so icky. Be very careful with the service here.

Location 5/5, Service 5/5, Food 4/5, Drinks 5/5, Clientele…read more2/5 *more on that below* This spot has one of the best beachside settings in Playa del Carmen. The entire restaurant, including the bar, is literally set in the sand, with tables right on the water just a few feet from the ocean. It's barefoot, toes in the sand dining done right, and the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. We did have one hiccup in the evening due to a rowdy group from a drone company that was extremely intoxicated and invasive of our space. Their belongings kept ending up on our table, and there were drunk men taking their shirts off and doing shots just a few feet away. Not sure if they didn't have enough tables or what, but we had made a reservation to celebrate a special event months in advanced, so it was a bit irritating. The servers eventually handled it and intervened multiple times, but at no point were they asked to move or relocate. Once that group settled down, the night became a much more enjoyable experience. We were a party of 12, and every single person raved about both their food and drinks. For drinks we had: Prickly Pear: Made with Orange Blossom Condesa Gin, St Germain, fresh lemon juice, rosemary syrup, mint, and strawberry. Bright and refreshing, though it came with more foam on top than expected. Coco Loco: A fresh whole coconut with Patrón Silver tequila, vodka, rum, gin, pineapple juice, and coconut cream. A true showstopper. Don't be intimidated by the mix of liquor, it is smooth, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. No hangovers were had. Espresso Martini: Simple and clean with a light foam. Well executed, but not a signature cocktail compared to the others. For food we had: We were surprised with an amuse bouche of huitlacoche, often called Mexican truffle. It's a corn fungus with a rich, earthy flavor and this small bite was outstanding and set the tone for the meal. Queso Fundido: Oaxaca cheese with chorizo and flour tortillas. Great flavor, but very thick, making it a bit messy and difficult to serve. Guacamole: Prepared with tomato, onion, cilantro, and cotija cheese. Perfectly seasoned, fresh, and especially enjoyable paired with the queso fundido. Brisket: Served in chileatole sauce with huitlacoche truffle, carrots, and cotija cheese. Comforting, rich, and deeply flavorful. Robalo Guayaba: Guava sea bass served in guava sauce with chiltepín chili. Beautifully cooked with just a little too much sweetness and citrus. It would have benefited from a little bit of heat, or a vegetable or side to pair it with, as it is not served with anything other than a cooked slices of lemon. Creme Brulee Mexicano: A rice pudding infused crème brûlée with caramel and vanilla ice cream. A thoughtful twist on the classic, with the rice pudding adding depth and warmth to the dessert. Knocked down to 4 stars due to the rowdiness of some surrounding guests. We were seated on the sand and needed to walk through the entirety of the restaurant, but people without tables or reservations were standing in the middle of walkways and sitting on the steps down to the beach, many too intoxicated to stand up. I'm hopeful this is not the usual clientele, and I would return for the quality of the food, drinks, and the gorgeous setting.
