They have their own private parking lot. There's usually a small cover charge when they have local bands playing. The night I visited they had two bands playing, one on the earlier side and one later. The acoustics and the sight line from where I was sitting to the stage was good. Sky Music Lounge is a fun place to see a band and hang out with friends! The first time I pulled up into the parking lot I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. When you walk up to the building it doesn't look like what you would expect for a music lounge. It is a really cool and unique building! Once you walk in there is a person at the front that takes payment if there is a cover charge and stamps your hand. Then you walk through the next set of doors that lead you to the music area. It is the perfect size! There is a small stage, plenty of seating and a decent size bar to the left. The bar has a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails. And even when crowded it doesn't take too long to get a drink as service is pretty fast and efficient! This is a a great venue for music as there is a large stage in the front and a standing area to be up close and dance! Behind that area are tables if you prefer to sit. This is a fun spot to meet up with a group of friends for music, dancing and drinks! There is also a room to the side that can be reserved for parties. This room also has a bar and plenty of space and seating for guests. The doorway leading to the music area is located conveniently to the side of the stage so if in the room you still hear the band. Had our company holiday party here. I arrived early so the band was just unloading their van as I was walking in, we had to wait for the president of the company to arrive with their card before we could order drinks - so a bust at first. I think the party actually started once my co-worker was working to get more people on the dance floor. The acoustics were not the best. As soon as the band started playing we were in what looked like a smoke room. We could hear the band at a decent volume, while not having to yell at colleagues to be able to understand one another. Five stars to the one waitress that was running around making sure we always had a drink in our hands and the tables were cleared from empty glasses. My hat goes off to her! I think with that, everyone was able to start loosening up and having a better time. What did it for me was Don't You (Forget About Me) started playing and I just ran to the dance floor. Unsure of how to dance to it with only other person, but we made it work. The dance party started and although I was wearing stilettos, it didn't stop me from having a blast. My hearing was off after 4 hours, my voice was hoarse, and I woke up sore, but all in all, had a great time! read more

Part of the problem is the audience, who are mostly not very serious about music so they put up with covers of songs that they've heard 400 times before, instead of wanting to seek out interesting original music - or bands that do at least some of their own original music. read more

Everything seemed confirmed via email and phone follow-ups. Then, just one hour before our event, they called to say they'd given our reserved space away to another party--with zero warning, no alternatives offered, and no refund options discussed upfront. This left our group scrambling with no venue, no time to pivot, and a lot of disappointed guests turning up empty-handed. The lack of accountability was shocking; their response was a vague apology without any real resolution or compensation. If you're considering this spot for birthdays, reunions, or any group event, steer clear. Reliability is everything for special occasions, and Sky Music Lounge failed spectacularly here. Instead of canceling outright, they tried to squeeze us into the main lounge area like it was some kind of favor. The live band was blasting at ear-splitting levels the entire night; conversation was literally impossible. We couldn't hear the person sitting right next to us, let alone carry on a celebration. People were shouting, covering their ears, and many ended up leaving early. What was supposed to be a joyful milestone event turned into an embarrassing, stressful disaster. The lounge might work for casual drop-ins or solo band nights, but for anything requiring trust in bookings? Look elsewhere--plenty of better options in Ballwin for events without the drama. There's a number of things I like about Sky Music Lounge. I'll start with the most obvious, the music lounge. There's plenty of music bars in St. Louis. What makes this one different? The music is consistently good. They've buddied up with some of the best bands in St. Louis that play the best selection of cover songs for partying/dancing. I've seen Plastic, Big Rain, and Vote for Pedro and I've been extremely happy each and every time. They don't have a ton of places to sit, but most of the time you're their to mingle and dance, so it's never really been an issue. The only other time I've been to Sky Music Lounge was for trivia on Wednesday nights. This is something give or take for a lot of people but I went with a small group and we all thought the placed rocked. Trivia was free, a bucket of beers was $5, appetizers were 1/2 priced (I think we got two apps for $7) and the winning table took home 40 bucks. Plus, the trivia was entertainment related so you didn't have to be a genius to get a few points. Overall, another positive experience. So overall, check out Sky Music Lounge on weekends for the music, but if you're looking for something low-key on a Wednesday, I would completely recommend Sky as well. read more

I have never heard of this place before being invited by a friend to stop by for a couple drinks at the Sky Music Lounge. It's a pretty cool building. When you first walk in there's this booth with a lady in it that checks ID's and collects money for the cover charge to get in. That was a little strange to me, why not just stand in front of the door? The place is split up into two sections. There's a bar to the far left side with the stage right there and tables in front of the stage. There is also a bar on the right side in a different "party room" where I was at. The drinks were pretty pricey and there weren't any specials going on that Saturday night. The place is a cool and relaxing place to listen to bands play with a good seat in the house no matter where you are. The place looks like a refurbished barn from the inside with some cool interior! I hope to update this review in the future and catch a show there sometime. 4 stars. read more

Had never heard of this place but went to hear my friends brother play in his band. Kinda of a cool place. Many people may know this as the old Barn Theatre or Barn of Lucerne?? We heard 2 bands - both were good. Warning- very loud, they offer you ear plugs at the door! They do charge a cover but not sure if the amount changes depending on the nights lineup. Drinks were reasonable and the lemon drop martini was yummy. They do not have food but you can bring in food or order pizza from a local place. Dropped by Sky last Friday night to check it out. A fairly decent cover band played a diverse mix of rock from the 80s to now. We were relieved to finally find a place with live music (that wasn't just R&B) in the area. There were also plenty of idiots to watch as they tried their best "playa" moves - an entertainment bonus... Things we like about Sky: - The Music - Parking is easy and close - People went outside to smoke (which coming from the NY area and CA, we have a very difficult time adjusting to smoke in bars. Ugh... it's the 21st century MO!!) - I liked that it was an older crowd (30s-40s) that night, since I am bit of a geezer myself. - Bartenders were fairly fast and pleasant Didn't like that night: - It's small, with very few tables leading to crowded aisles - When standing, there are few places to put your drink except for a small island by the door - It is a pain in the rear to work your way through the crowd to get a drink. There is a crowded choke point that you have to push your way through. Overall, it's o.k. Can't say that I am a huge "fan" but will probably go again. read more

I think this bar has a cooler atmosphere than a lot of other West County Bars. It's a little different--the space is set up in a circle and the ceiling is vaulted (perhaps that is where they came up with the name?). It's definitely not your run-or-the-mill bar. There are two separate bars, one with full-service and one with a more limited selection. There are also a fair amount of tables and seating at dry-bar areas, which is nice. They generally have live music, which is a huge plus for me. When we were last there, there was an awesome cover band (I wish I could remember the name!). The biggest positive? Guitar Hero! They actually have a small room separate from the bar with a flatscreen TV where people can play. Such a great idea, and so much fun! Growing up in West County, I was used to going to the Barn at Lucerne for family dinners on holidays. However the restaurant closed and the barn stayed empty for several years. I was very excited to see that it was finally being occupied with a music club as West County doesn't have very many places to call home on a Friday or Saturday night. A friend of mine decided to have her friends gather at Sky for her birthday. We were told to arrive before 8 pm as they start asking for a $5 cover shortly after. We arrived then while the band was setting up and it was very easy to find a seat as many people had not arrived yet. They have 2 rooms persay that you can have your parties in. One is an official party room that can be rented out, the other is simply a cave type room that has a few comfy chairs in it. Warning with that room, the more people in it, the hotter it gets. We picked a table on the floor and the band started at 9. The crowd also started at 9 and it was a good mix of people who came out. Only thing(s) that is a turn off is the cover price and the drinks are a bit pricey because you are paying for a good drink. read more

BEWARE if you are a musician! This venue is KNOWN for not paying bands. They tell you that you have to bring 50 people to see your show but then when you do, they lie and tell you that you were short and you will not be getting paid. I'm not sure how they count attendance because several people in the crowd shot videos and it is very apparent that the place was packed. Just beware, YOU WILL NOT GET PAID NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU BRING. They collect a cover charge, profit from alcohol sales and refuse to pay the entertainment. Go grab a cougar pelt. Good bar for music and drinks are cheap. I went to see Joe Dirt play and at first there were so many old people I though I was in a scene from Cacoon. Then when when the clock struck 11pm the retirement home closed and the cougars were out on the prowl. Aggressive is an understatement. Some of these women needed to be interviewed by Chris Hansen. Needless to say if you want to experience West county desperation, this is the spot. As for the beer it is reasonably priced. The place is small so expect to stand and mingle. read more

I am really in between on this place. During the week we a group of us have gone there for trivia which is upstairs in the loft. The awesome thing about their trivia on Wednesdays is they have half price appetizers and $5 buckets, which is an awesome deal. Afterward they have some live music, once it was a bit more lounge music type and another they had a pretty decent cover band. I went on a weekend and I think we missed the main band playing for the night since we didn't get there until 10. The band playing when we got there was so bad it was funny, I had to take two videos of them for the laugh factor. It was average priced, but the crowd was probably the best and worst part. It is extremely good people watching since the crowd is mostly older. Some of us had a grand time watching some older gentlemen hit on girls 1/2 their age all night. The drunken older couples dancing were also awesome to watch. Another good thing about this is place is it is still in Ballwin so the place is not smoky. Overall, except for the cheap drinks during the week, if I had another location in the area to go to I would. read more

I've lived in west county for quite a while and have frequented Sky Lounge for many years. This past weekend was my worst experience there. I guess a popular band was playing and it seemed every table was reserved. I don't know what the capacity is, but there was no place to stand without being in someone's way. I had to wait 20min to get a drink at the bar, and then when I decided to leave after 30min after no hope of enjoying myself or dancing, it took me 20min to get my tab. I'm not saying I won't return, but i'll definitely look inside the doors first before I pay for entrance. read more

I didn't get that all when I went although I was only there for the last 20 minutes to closing so maybe they all went home. It is smaller place than I expected but I did like the setting. I just moved to West County from Clayton and I miss my hangouts on the other side of 270! However, I had my first visit to Sky 4 weeks ago and I've been back every weekend. It's the only place that I have visited in West County that has consistantly great music and a party crowd. Although I sometimes find the music loud, it's always very fun. It has more of a feel of being in Soulard or Downtown than it does West County. The crowd has been pretty diverse the times I have been there. Looking around one night there were people from their early 20s to 60s. Everyone just dances and mingles together. I had some of my friends out for a birthday party a week ago and the manager reserved a small, private room for me. It has a really incredible chandelier and a LCD TV. They allowed me to bring my own caterer for appetizers, which was a huge bonus. The drinks are priced the way you would expect for the atmosphere, not to expensive and not cheap. They have PBR on tap and I think they only were charging $2 per pint. I got a Grey Goose and Soda and it was $8. I would highly recommend the place for a weekend night out with friends! read more

Our server was okay--but they were busy so I let it slide. We could have gone to the bar but that would have taken just as long. Decent place to listen to bands but they have a table reservation system that makes it hard to get a seat. When I went, over half of the tables had papers marking them as reserved but no one was sitting. Folks had to stand when there were plenty of tables available. Mixed drinks are a little high and they highlight the martinis (Sky vodka because sky bar). Most folks were spilling everywhere because the martini glasses were filled to the brim. Full glasses combined with large crowds of standing people or very wobbly tables = most of your drink on the floor. read more

They have a really nice set up for a bar, nice stage, lot of brick and wood. The band was good and played a lot of mostly 90s and early 2000s covers. The Impostrers is the name. The service and variety of drinks was a little disapointing. I asked for a Michelob but only light varieties were available. My wife asked for a Pina Colada and they said they don't serve frozen drinks. So I am not very impressed with that. She ordered an Apple Martini and I had to ask 3 times for a straw. The crowd was nice, cute girls well dressed people.Overall we had a good time but they aren't really trying to impress anyone. Good place to go for live rock music. read more

This club is the best MUSIC club in St. Louis. The reason I don't give it a lot of stars is because they have the SAME bands over and over and over. Michael B, below, talks about Big Rain, Pedro, and other bands playing there.. those bands are good, but they play there literally every 3 weeks, or more. We've gone to this club 4 times and have seen the same band (Vote for Pedro) 3 times out of the 4. How is this possible with so many great St. Louis bands? Paint the Earth is even worse, as they are there every week it seems. Great place for bands, but the SAME bands over and over.. and they are all playing the same music as well. We've tired of this place and despite living in the area, will drive elsewhere to see different bands. read more

Had a good time last night at this place. Love the building and like a lot of the bands that play, but if you're under 40 this place is hit or miss. Sometimes it's crawling with cougars and old dudes trying to hit on the handful of younger women, and others it's filled with a college crowd. Either way, as long as you go with a fun crew, it can be a good time. People-watch for funny or for hotties and enjoy the music. Sometimes we stop in just because of the waitress (girl with sexy glasses). If you live in the area there really isn't a better place to go. read more

Went to see Joe Dirt on 8/30. It was awesome! I love those guys! The venue was just ok. Kind of a small joint but not to bad. The bathrooms were horrible (the women's and the family restroom) both disgusting. The family bathroom had urine in the toilet and around the toilet. The women's bathroom was even worse...small and cramped. Yeah seemed like everyone was flushing in there but it was still very dirty and the second stall door wouldn't latch! horrible! I sat and held my urine for as long as I could just to avoid the bathroom...but soon had to go lol. But other than the restrooms it was a neat place and the bartender dude was kool but the waitress chick was a lil flaky. I got to hang out with a few guys from Joe Dirt and took a few pics and it was a wonderful time! I love The Urge! read more
