I went in to get a fill, he explained the pros and cons of doing so since the gel had already lifted and water had gotten inside the gel and was starting to turn my nail yellow. I went with acrylic this time. Since I work with water a lot and can end up lifting the gel after a while. He did such an amazing job and he exceeded my expectations. Quality, length of my nails, not to mention he was so gentle I was falling asleep (regardless of the complimentary Vietnamese coffee he offered and I chugged!). 5 stars to this place for taking in a late walk in. I saw other yelpers say they'll stay late for a last minute person, and so I took the gamble at showed up at 8:00. The boss lady said if I was willing to wait, she'd help me. She did! I didn't leave until 10:00 but neither did she! She took care of me like I was the first customer of the day. The work wasn't spectacular. I think she forgot my hot rock treatment for the pedicure. But ... she chatted with me like she wasn't tired (and I know she was!) and to stay late for 1 customer deserves a 5 star review. I'm very disappointed to those long time customers who decided to give 1 star. I live close to this salon and wanted to try it because I drive about 30 minutes away to a nail salon and wanted one close to home. I definitely regret doing that. Here is why....The acrylic on my nails are uneven, length is off between both hands, color is not consistent and they are not filed evenly. The lady was very nice until I started to point out her mistakes and wanted them fixed. She became annoyed and you could tell she wanted me out of there. I came in an hour before they closed and I asked if they could take me for a manicure gel fill and a pedicure. Though it was late they still took me and I was so grateful for that. I typically love the staff and environment but Tommy was so rude. He kept yanking my hand and argued with me over a color I told him I never wanted in the first place. The nails are beautiful and I'm grateful I was even serviced but there is a way to treat people. I was so upset and I really hope he doesn't yank anybody else's hand or tell them their hand is crooked. I will be back in 2 weeks, just thought I'd share my experience. This isn't the first time either. He really needs to work on his customer service. Just because you do good work, you still need to be respectful towards your customers. read more

UPDATE -- I came in and got my nails redone by the shop owner. They look and feel a million times better now. I would say this place is good depending on which nailist you get. It is clear that the level of skill severely varies between staff members. Would come back if I can book appointments with the owner directly. I just came in here with my mom and her toes looked really great however, my gel nail manicure was so bad and a little scary. I felt bad because the lady who was doing my nails was very old and her hands were not steady to begin with. I came in with only regular polish that should be easy to take off but she had trouble and missed spots and left edges of old polish on my nail, even after I pointed it out. After she used the electric file on my left hand and gave me my hand back... I took a look and actually wanted to cry. I'm not exaggerating. I attached photos for what it looks like. She filed down with the edge of the sander so much that it wore grooves into my nail, almost down to exposing my skin underneath. Because of this my nail felt very sensitive there. I wanted to walk out but since my mom was mid Pedi, I asked her to please be more careful with my other hand and I said this is very bad. Of course all the edges of my nails are not fully covered with polish. The cuticle area looks messy on almost all of my nails and there are air bubbles in the polish on almost all nails too. I told her after the first coat about the bubbles but she told me the second coat would take care of it. It did not. My left hand nails look lumpy because of the groove that she dug into my nail. Also each nail is not filed uniformly. They are all different shapes now. I am very unhappy with all of this. I have to use my hand in a product photo shoot and this is why I came to get a manicure. This is the worst experience I've had getting my nails done. I will go back in tomorrow and ask them to fix it. The older lady should not be doing nails if she can't get any of the steps done safely and cleanly. read more
