I have been going to Sky Nails for years. My most recent visit..last week, Danny was on vacation. But..we tried our luck anyway. Since Tiffany and Tommy left..it hasn't been the same. But..Danny does a good job. We had 3 pedicures 2 full sets and a manicure. The pedicures were fine. Yes, tried to push gel and deluxe. It was definitely not comfortable when we got our nails done. My daughter and I did powder to try it out. I had Danny's brother, he was looking at ESPN scores..smelling of cigarettes. He was unfriendly. Told me not to move, not to bump table, relax my fingers...dude..getting nails done should be relaxing. Tyen..my daughters were crooked. I have avidly recommended Vessel and even left Sky Nails to go to Vessel in the past but have given them two chances to restore my faith in them and am so glad I did! My daughter and I have a mani/pedi tradition when we get together and since our times are limited, it is important to me to have the best experience possible. I stopped going there because as a walk-in, they would tell me they had room and it would be 5 minutes and I would wait more like 25 minutes and then if I actually called in to make an appointment and would make a point to say that I would work around their schedule, but absolutely wanted to sit t-o-g-e-t-h-e-r ~ it never failed that they didn't make provisions for that to happen. So when I found Vessel, I loved them. Their cleaning habits are so good (and that's very important to me) you might suspect a health inspector was lurking in the corners. Tam, the owner is constantly cleaning and directing his staff to do the same! They offer you wine or champagne and are great but if you get the owner (the wife, Danielle...) she constantly takes phone calls, both booking appointments and personal and half the time~ passes you off to someone else to finish. I finally got my nails removed and have been trying to go back to natural nails and the last few times I could not get an appointment at the Vessel at the time I needed to fit into my schedule, so tried a few in town. And then one time, my friend had an appointment at Sky Nails and invited me to come along and so I did and was suprised how much they had improved. So then tried them another time when my daughter visited and then today and was so pleased I actually think that I will be loyally going to them now. The chairs have much stronger massage motors then any place I have triend in town and the service was good and the providers were very friendly and personable. It was just an overall good experience and I highly recommend them now! I still love Vessel but the competition is out there and that's always a good thing because it keeps everyone on their toes providing good customer service to us... the customers! read more

I have been here 3 times. I always have Nancy do my waxing and she does such an amazing job. My eyebrows $12, and lip $8 look fantastic. I also had Nancy do my mani $15 regular-$20 deluxe, and pedi $23 regular/$32 deluxe twice before with the gelish polish $20 for Mani and regular polish for pedi. My hands and feet have never looked so great. This time Kven did my mani pedi and we went ahead and did the gelish polish which is a midnight sparkly blue color #34. We did the gel for both hands and feet. Kven had an awesome idea and asked if I wanted to use the midnight blue as a tip for the pedi! They came out soooo good! Thanks sky nail and spa!! The owner runs this place like his employees are slaves, he overbooks customers, when you supposedly call to schedule an appointment and upon arrival he says your not schedule!d! He then takes it out on his employees by rushing them to help everyone that walks in, which means customers pay and tip for a rushed and terrible service. I had the worst experience and was especially upset that the owner yelled at the lady doing my nails, she was very hurt and upset the entire time she was doing my pedicure and manicure. I will never condone to making it ok for people like him to run his business with over working , underpaying, and mistreating his employees and lousy customer service! We had an appointment today at noon. This was the only time we were able to get our nails done and they assured us we would be fine. After sitting around for 25 minutes, and not even getting acknowledged by the staff there, we asked if we would be able to be done by one because we had another appointment. They acted like we were bothering them even asking them and very nonchalantly said no we would not be done in time. There was no apologies, no acknowledgment of us being there, or anything. We had to leave and they didn't even say anything when we left. Very disappointed. It was super important for us as this was our only time we had available. We will never come back here again. Honestly I've gone to them multiple times and I love the nails most of the times, but almost every single time I go they are so violent when it come to filing and prepping the nails. The most recent time I went, the guy cut me on my finger. I know the picture shows it was minor and all of the irritation isn't too bad, but getting your nails done shouldn't be a painful experience. Went yesterday to have a deluxe manicure and pedicure. I still have a ton of dead skin around all of my cuticles even though he said he "removed it all" with the electric buffer. My feel also still have a lot of dead skin. The sides of my nails didnt even have polish on them. The gel was very thin. The prices are not as advertised. They charge to trim your nails even though that should be part of the process. Ended up paying nearly $90 and I am very unsatisfied. I will not do business here again read more

I really wish I could give a good review, but I literally got the worst manicure and I was definitely overcharged for what looks worse than cheap press ons. My cuticles were never touched, the acrylic is lifted and half assed and all the nails are odd shapes and lumpy at the base. Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else. My nails were crooked and the wrong color. When I went back in to have them fix my nails the nail lady had an attitude about it. I was a walk in today for a basic manicure on natural nails. They were really busy and the guy running the front said a 30 minute wait. I asked if I could make an appointment for later, and he made one for me. I returned for my appointment on time, and then waited 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated, the technician proceeded with the manicure. She quickly filed my nails and had to be asked afterwards to cut them so they were mostly even. After filing, they are rough on the edges and all different shapes. She was going to just push my cuticles back after a brief soak in warm water (No soap? No marbles?) and I asked that they be cut. She complied and that almost resulted in me being cut. No worries: no blood, no foul. Due to the condition of my nails, she convinced me to just leave them natural for a bit and she would buff them today for me. I agreed. She used a coarse grit buffer that roughed up my nails (my nails are very thin). Then she said she wouldn't do any more buffing because my nails needed their strength to be natural. She applied 15 seconds of lotion on each hand (what? No massage?), wipes off my nails with warm towels, and we were done. For this 12 minute "manicure", she proceeded to charge me $17. When I said that was ridiculous, she said it was the same price with or without polish. With this type of service, I will not be returning. read more

Normally I don't post yelp reviews. I feel compelled to post this one to protect others and also maybe the owners / managers will see this and clean up their act! I don't get pedicures often but had some extra cash flow so decided to treat myself for a few months. I normally go to a place in SLO that is very clean and will open the implements right in front of you from a sealed, sanitized pouch, then offer them to you when you're done. Their metal implements are immediately taken to the autoclave when they finish your mani/ pedi. Sky Nails is nothing short of horrific and I should have stopped going at the first sign of uncleanliness but my friend liked her experience and we would usually go together and it saved us from having to go down the grade. Once I got gel nails and he used three different brands for the foundation coat, color coat and top coat. They began lifting and separating within three days. Next time I went the woman used the correct brands together and they stayed fine but I noticed when she opened her drawer to file my nails that it was full of nail dust and the file had tons of file marks from other women's hands! Gross! This is the really bad part- I had gotten a pedicure along with my manicure twice in a row. The first pedicure I noticed she dug under my toenail with the metal implement, then placed it back in the CLEAN drawer. Gross!! Then they let my friend walk BAREFOOT across the salon to pick a different color. All of these are major state board violations. I know this because I am a licensed cosmetologist. Well, the next pedicure was just as bad but I went to appease my friend. Then, after two pedicures at this place where I noted clear violations and very unsanitary practices, I headed back to my regular place and low and behold when the polish was removed I had a clear case of nail fungus! I was so upset!! Never in my life have I had a nail fungus! I knew exactly where it came from. Now I deal with gross, discolored, flaking nails that will take a minimum of a year to treat with consistent twice daily treatment. I blame myself for noting their very unsanitary practices and continuing to go back out of convenience because of location. I will never return now that I have one of their lovely "parting gifts". read more

Alright, so let me tell you about my experience here. I've been here a few times before. It was normal service, nothing to brag about. Last time I was here I had Kelly. She's a tad rude, pushes your hand in directions instead of talking to you, points were you need to go. She speaks English, but her voice is low. So I tried another place with a friend, but it's too far for me so this time I went back to sky spa where I've been about 8 times. I call in to make an appointment. Pink and white fill and a pedi. Gentleman was nice on the phone. I get there do the normal thing pick you color and go sit in the chair. Kelly starts my pedi, asked me if water was fine. She asked if I wanted a delux pedi which I have no clue what that is but no thank you, I just want a normal pedicure please. I think that pissed her off. She rubbed lotion on my feet and legs, wasn't a massage rub, it was just simply putting lotion on my feet and legs... Then I had two colors I couldn't decide with and I tried to make small talk like ahh what color! I think the blue will make me look too white? And she rudely just said what one you want, what you want, what one? What one? I wanted to asked if she can paint one toe a color and the next another so I can see but I was so uncomfortable I just picked one and said here I guess.... pedi is over, she's cleaning out the spa. She hands me my shoes and stands by her table... okay every pedi I have had, they've help with shoes and purse. So I was a tad irritated at this point. After my shoes are on, she points at her table whiling looking at me.... okay I guess she's doing my nails too ugh. Okay it's okay. She tells me I need a new set... hunni, I've been getting my nails done for about 5 years straight, I don't need a new set. I've seen my nails worse and it be pulled off. I tell her no it's okay... well that pissed her off lol she starts and I recognized her! She's pushing my hands, pulling them, tapping them, LADY TALK! talk and pull my hand, talk and tap on my hands, COMMUNICATE!! so a commercial came on the tv and I saw something I wanted to look up... I started looking it up on my phone and now she starts to talk... "stop, relax!" She tugs more. "Relax, relax" I told her lady my fingers are as relaxed as they can be! Last time when I was on the phone like that, she had an attitude. I promise me being on the phone wasn't interrupting my opposite hand. So hands all done. There's a black dot from the block file and I tell her "ooo there's a black dot can you get that out. " She told me no because I didn't wash my hands well enough. I said seriously, u can't fix that? And she grabbed my hand all upset. Ugh I wanted to just slap her. I asked her about my jacked up nail, she didn't shave the white down all the way and she said oh that's how it is.. um no it's not suppose to be like that! So I upsettingly ask her how much do I owe. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THIS IS THE SKETCHY PART!!!!!!!!!!!! We walk to the front counter. I pay cash. She goes to her table to get change and comes back. I asked her for a receipt. Well I just pissed her off some more. She was mad at me for asking. She said you pay cash.... ya so I pay cash I should still be able to receive a receipt. So she took a piece of paper, had lines on one side with some words but she flips the small piece of paper over and writes $63 on it with pen and said here you go... are you shitting me! I need a receipt, you know one that tell what I paid for and that it's paid. I tell her anyone could right this with pen and give it to someone! I could write this! Baha so Kelly gave me a pen to write it.... ooo I took her tip right off the table and stomped out! They have notes all around the place pay cash then you won't get frauded. Not in those exact words but close to it. AFTER MY EXPERIENCE TODAY, I TRULY FEEL THEY LAUNDRY MONEY OR THIS LADY IS STEALING FROM THE OWNER? Idk I THINK THEY LAUNDRY MONEY FOR HER REACTION OF NO RECIEPT. I WILL NEVER EVER STEP FOOT INTO THIS DAM PLACE AGAIN! Time to try tip toe nail place. I started going here for dips after my gel lady retired. They have a ton of colors and also do ombre. I have never been disappointed. Trisha and Danny are always polite and friendly and I never have to wait more than a few minutes when I walk in. If I make an appointment I usually do it right when they open on Saturday morning so they don't get too busy. I've also had excellent pedi's with Kim and Susan. Glad I found them! read more

I wish I would have read the reviews For this place before I went I got there at around 1045 they open at 11 on Sunday I went and picked out my color sat in the chair where a woman whom I didn't get her name proceeded to tell me I really look like I need the gel pedicure then tried and sell me on it $53 also put a menu of items in front of me and told me it was their specialty I told her I wanted the regular pedicure .She was very pushy and rough wind up ripping the side of my big toenail nail apologized and proceeded to say I would for sure have to have the gel pedicure for the color to stay on it at this point I went ahead and told her I was leaving she then said it wasn't her fault my nail was already like that when I came in I couldn't see it because of the polish I had on I stated I had zero polish on when I came in she said oh sorry that's not what I meant but the nail was like that. Well that was just the worst mani pedi experience I have EVER had. I've had my nails done all over the world, and I never imagined my worst experience would be in my own hometown. This place only gets one star because Danny did a great job on my dip powder, but SUSAN who did my pedicure should not be doing nails and for her I give negative stars. To start, it took me two hours to get a mani pedi. Where I used to go in the bay area, it took an hour tops for both. For my pedicure, the lady was so pushy and aggressive about forcing me to get gel. My toenails have that weird coloration because I've had polish on for so long so eventually she convinced me but I really didn't want to do it. She also kept getting distracted by other people and just sat there talking while I was waiting after I had already been there for over an hour. Now this was my fault because I wasn't paying attention, but I noticed it kept hurting and once she was done, I looked down and was shocked by how short my nails were. They've never been that short EVER. She took off HALF of my nail on my pinky toe.... HALF. In the picture you can see it. I told her how short they were and she didn't even apologize she just said "you have a lot of nails". What does that even mean? Then I give them my card to pay and they say "oh can you use the ATM?" And I go "um you guys don't take card?" And then they say, "we do but can you use it?" And she just kept handing me my card back. They only make you do this so that THEY don't have to pay the service fees and YOU do. Then as it turns out, I didn't take out enough cash so I had to do it again and then the ATM doesn't even work. So finally after all of this, she accepts my card for the rest of the payment and then asks how much I want to tip them. She even tried to withhold a couple bucks from me because she thought I wasn't going to tip. She was like "well how much do you want to give us?". That was the craziest part to me. But because I know what it's like to not get tipped, I still did. This place really try's to scam you so just be prepared. If you come here, DO NOT GO TO SUSAN. read more

Lio and Danny do an excellent job with the dip nails. Everyone in there is friendly and it is nice and it is always clean.

I usually don't go and review places (especially negative on yelp) but my experiences here have not been great. The owner or guy always at the front has always been nice but the ladies working there are something else. I was happy the first time I went and this young lady did an amazing job on my nails, so I was like I'm going to go back again. The next time my nails were definitely not done to the best they could have been for sure. I remember being disappointed but am to shy to tell them and they always demand a tip. The lady lied to me saying that she would reimburse my money that there atm machine charged to pull out cash (that she also made me do when I wanted to use my card) and she never did. My last straw was with a woman there who always looks like she's in a bad mood and she apparently got upset with me and starting talking to herself in her language about me rolling her eyes! I grew up getting my nails done in this town at many places and the times I've gone here I always had to wait for a long time to get my service I wanted done but no biggie ...I haven't gotten my nails done in over a year since I lost half of one of my fingers. I was ready to get them painted for my up coming vacation... we'll we made an appointment my friend got seated first since she was getting acrylics and I had a mani pedi ... I had to wait about 40 mins in the seating area then they turned a chair on for me and waited another 35-40 minutes to get someone to start on me. The lady was named Kim , didn't speak much English to me , I gave her the colors I wanted she started her pedicure process wasn't that bad , I asked her not to cut my toes since I already did well she didn't listen and cut them and I kept asking her to stop she didn't. Anyways I let her carry on, she painted my toes some were smudged and she kept trying to clean up polish she kept getting outside of the nails but it was a mess. She then moved to my hands and I told her please don't touch my one finger it hurts bad probably at least 5 + times .. she didn't listen she kept trying to touch it and I kept telling her ow don't touch that one please. She ended up painting it and I held my tongue untill she finished because she obviously didn't listen to me. She kept moving my hands a lot and would tug on me hard and tell me to stay still when I wasn't even moving... I didn't even have the chair on either. Anyways at the end she walks away and I sit there for like 20 mins then I ask am I done and she says yes , then starts to go to another client. I get up and put my sandals on and start to walk to the register she rushes over to me and PUSHES me towards the ATM and says only cash. Well I knew better , I called ahead of my appointment and asked if they take card and they said yes. So I told her that and she tried to fight with me about it then I finally said no I'm not paying with cash I'm paying with card , so she grabs my card out of my hand and looks angry then said we'll what about my tip?! Like lady you completely didn't do what I asked you to do and you literally just tired to get me to pay with cash using your vending machine like no I don't want that fee either. So I said sorry no tip. Also not to mention I was souposed to get charged 65 that's what she told me then she charges my card and said it's 80 ... dude how?! They did the same thing to my best friend they charged her 60 instead of 45. Anyways I'm pissed she walks away and turns around and keeps saying where's my tip where my tip. So I go to the atm take out a 20 and ask her for 15 back she only gives me 10.... At this point no even worth an argument. I don't recommend this place at all to anyone!!!! Horrible new owners!! I am currently sitting in the pedicure chair and this is my second time here. First time was amazing. Today...not so much. I was not asked what type of pedicure I wanted, no additives or scents added to the spa chair. She keeps slamming my feet down.
