I had my reservations about the food at Sky Phoenix so when I was invited there for a wedding I didn't rule out the idea of needing a Maccas run at the end of the night. FOOD Thankfully I was wrong about the food. It was all served efficiently in individual portions and tasted pretty good to me! The girlfriend sitting next to me happened to be chosen as the 'head' of our table. Everytime a new dish was to be served the waiter would come and show her the dish in full seeking her approval before the split it into individual serves. Each time she just nodded not knowing what else to do. I really wanted her to shake her head in disapproval to see what would happen. OTHER POINTS Sky Phoenix did well to fit 180 guests in half their restaurant as well as fitting in a small dance floor. It was a bit awkward though when the music came on and the lights up the front were completely turned off. By the time the cake was served everyone was quite full that at the end of the night I just saw them throwing out the slices of cake. Mass wastage of wedding cake. So super sad. Asian me wanted to get out my plastic container and take the wedding cake home to eat for the next week. Unfortunately for me I'm not that Asian and don't carry around plastic containers for such situations. OVERALL Not a bad location for a smaller Asian style wedding. If you were to rent out the whole place it would be in a weird backwards L shape though.

I had been here a few times before but haven't reviewed this restaurant till now. Located on the sixth floor at Westfield Sydney. We came here for a work function. There was copious amounts of food ordered and well and truly more than enough for us to eat. We got a large variety to share so got to try everything. The food was piping hot and it was all so tasty. I was pleased we got everything fresh as at so yum cha restaurants you can tell if they had been circling around for too long. We were looked after by Ling and she was excellent!

Yes it's a big poor fly inside! Extra flavor uh?

This was the second time I eat here. It's unique how they serve the food, but I don't understand why the waitress always speaking Chinese when they serve the food. Anyway the thing was that one of my friend unfortunately found a fly inside one of the most delicious food they have there, yes!! I'm not joking! It was exactly a fly! We can even see the eye wings n legs! The lucky thing was that she just had a little tiny bite as she love eating slowly n enjoying the food n suddenly she was speechless until she nudging me without saying any word n just show me what she just found on her food, hahaha but it was a funny moment but creepy as I could clearly seen a fly! Lol Well, I have no idea how a fly flew into the kitchen n got cooked, wondering how they maintain the hygiene in the kitchen hmm.. N the last is about how impolite the manager was!! Seriously, He didn't even say a word sorry, well I didn't ask but he should know what to do n treat the customer. As some people next to us was looking at us n kind of giving a sign to my other friend that if something is wrong with the food, the manager suddenly ask my friend who was holding the food to pull it down so that everybody can't see n took it from my friend's hand n went away to the kitchen without say ANYTHING! n just grab the bill crossed out that particular food n that's it yes that's it! We still need to pay the bill for other food, well that's fine but we are customer, at least they say sorry to us as customers so that we understand but nah. Since that time we stopped eating there. If I'm such a person, i will definitely sue them. Oh well it's not all about the food but attitude n nice service.

Love love love Phoenix Yum Cha. Always great service and gorgeous food. Mango pancakes are a go at the start and end of the meal hot and fresh food makes a nice change from food courts and people. The space is a nice quiet break from the city rush.

An upmarket yum cha restaurant for the business crowd. The yum cha trolleys keep coming, not the most adventurous that you might find, but the food is always well done. It's a good option for going out with a group of colleagues for lunch, but likely feeling the competition from New Shanghai down below.

Our waitress was a super disappointed we came in right at opening: 9am and was muttering how inconvenient it was we decided to eat so early to her coworker in Cantonese not knowing we could understand her. We are used to big crowds and long lines by opening at our dim sum places so we came in early to beat the crowd. Kitchen took almost 45 mins to prepare our beef noodles and it was a total disappointment. Kitchen is super slow and did not have anything other than a few items by opening. We wanted egg custard to finish our meal and was informed it would take another hour before they would be ready. I guess things are cooked fresh on the day which is good but shouldn't it all be ready by the time you open? The little old ladies pushing the cart were very nice and polite. Ambiance is your typical big city Chinese place.

Came Sunday at 9:30, already a quarter full. I had har- gow, chicken feet, trip, lotus leaf sticky rice (lo mai gai). The chicken feet were perfect and the har-gow full and plumb with shrimp. I like the way they do the lo mai gai. Smaller portions, devided between 3 wrappers instead of the usual 2. So you get more filling to rice ratio. Plus they wrap the race in parchment paper before wrapping in the lotus leaf, so it's much easier to peel apart. The trip was a little disappointing however. The flavor was very good but good, but should have been cooked a bit longer, as some of the pieces were still quite chewy. I patiently waited for the egg custard to come out, as they were still baking them. Worth the wait, they were perfect! Light flaky crust, and perfectly light and tender egg custard. Plus, they were the "normal" palm size tart...not those mini ones, that many places switched to, to save money. Honestly, these were the best I have had anywhere! As I was leaving at 10:45, the place was buzzing and almost full. They were also bringing out many more items, such as stuffed bell pepper (with shrimp) and stuffed egg plant (with pork). They also had special carts that would make stir fry noodles or steamed vegy at your table. Makes it feel like Hong Kong, which was the last place I saw these, in the early '90s.

Ambience seemed old skool China with eclectic decor. We were promptly greeted and seated by our hostess and our server followed suit shortly thereafter. Menu selection is extensive and we started our meal with a bottle of wine as well as an appetizer of two (deep fried) spring rolls. We also ordered two bowls of their famous chicken corn soup and in all reality, one bowl was sufficient enough to share between two people. It was hot and delicious. Main entrees included a black pepper steak which came out sizzling on a platter and reminded me of beef fajitas & pork with vegetables and chow mein noodles. I am not a big pork eater so I ate the vegetables and both entrees were very flavorful and fresh. Top of the meal wasn't dessert; it was chuckling over the robot that was carrying the dishes to the tables with a cute cat face blinking with a meow lol.

How convenient. She was working a half day to spend the rest with us. It was 2pm and I was starving. She was smart in choosing this time because we noticed it was very busy during the lunch rush. It still was when we got there but a table came up quickly for 3. The restaurant is pretty stylish and modern. The open air seating is very inviting in the middle of the Financial Disctrict. Even with the slight chill air it was nice to be under the sun. Service is not that great here but I could see they were trying. Our server was pleasant making conversation with us. When she found out we were visiting it seemed like she tried to make the whole experience a little better for us by being more attentive. I did peruse the 50 page menu to see what all they had. I wanted it all. The food smelled great. The menu was so intoxicating I told my cousin to order for us. I trusted her decisions. Helps that we like the same kinds of food. 3 dishes would be enough food but my cousin ordered 5 dishes. That's a lot of food. Crispy Pork and Roast Duck combo, Fried Rice, Fried Tofu, squid and Chinese Broccoli Being a Cantonese restaurant my cousin remembered that I would order Chinese Broccoli often here in California. She decided to do the same. Nicely cooked still retaining its' color with a semi natural sweet taste and a little snap. The fried rice is fried rice. Nothing to brag about but good. The tofu was deep fried with a spicy salt. Add nori to it I don't think was necessary but it was good combination. Just didn't like adding more salt to it. The squid too was deep fried with spicy salt. Delicious. Now the pièce de résistance was definitely the pork and duck combo. We're talking lechon quality pork. Very surprising to find that here in a Chinese restaurant because that's a Filipino dish. Combine that with roast duck that was cooked well. This is not the time to talk about how unhealthy this is. Let's just enjoy it for what it is. Two good meats basking in the afternoon glistening proudly and dripping juices of sweetness. Good food with good people. Besides, I was on vacation. Another good eats in Darling Harbour. I'm beginning to think I need to move here.
