My usual place in Flushing (Stylish Barber Shop) has been closed as of late, so I decided to try this place out. At $16 for men's cut & wash, it is a little bit more expensive than most Chinese barbershops, but they're very attentive to detail. It started off with a hair wash with shampoo and conditioner by a different person than the barber, and then the barber started cutting my hair. He spent quite a bit of time getting a smooth cut all around without rough edges. Finally my hair was rinsed and blow-dried. read more

This place is still super deal compared to Manhattan and Brooklyn salons. Great service and Maggie is a magician with hair. She made my mop into a coiffed mane. Maggie did my hair super sharp and very professionally. The price is unbeatable, even with my thick long hair it was only $22 for wash, cut and style. First time at this salon - it's on the way to where we usually go between our Flushing massage and tea spot. They're pretty fast when cutting male hair and did a really good job when I said only cut the top about an inch and make the back/bottom shorter (a cm or less). Usually the fear at salons is cutting too much off but they listened! Also no need for shampooing hair if you don't need/want the service. Really great no-frills spot to go for your hair needs (cuts range between $10-20 based on length...though I was quoted $25 for my long hair). Hair treatments obviously would be more expensive, but not nearly the rate in Manhattan. read more

Took my mom and son in for a haircut. My mom went first and explained to the owner how shre wanted it. Boy did she mess up!! She shaved the back of my moms head and now it is super short. My mom is so upset with it and she looks like a sick person. My sons haircut came out fine but just the poor attitude received was unacceptable. I first showed a picture of how my son wanted his hair. She said no thats impossible to do that (just something similiar would have been fine) and plus the guy in the picture has a hair stylist. Uhm so what are you? A bootleg stylist? Why are you even standing in front of me?! So after 5 minute discussion on how to cut my sons hair he wanted to put red color wax in his hair which i brought. I requested for her to put it in my sons hair after the cut. Her reply "why cant you do it yourself" Really??!!! Everytime i bring my son to a barbershop they never have a problem doing it. This is the first time ever it has been an issue. My mom is and was a regular at this salon also but she feels the service level has dipped and told me she never wants to go back. This is my first time here. They were able to accommodate both English and Chinese language which is amazing. I wanted a Japanese style medium length bob hair cut. I asked for it to be shorter than the stock photo because it was summer and boy did she delivered. I came out loving my new hair cut and style. Super happy customer, will visit again. read more

So I make an appointment for highlights and a trim and walk out of this place 5 hours later HEATED and looking like a hyena. I specifically said that I wanted beachy highlights but my hair seems to be resistant to bleach (because it can't seem to get passed the orange phase) - would they be able to achieve the photo I showed of someone with warm beachy highlights. I then showed them a photo of Samantha (one of the people that had visited that had a similar color to what I wanted) and they said "yes we can do it". WELL - if you look at the pictures, clearly we were not on the same page. My highlights were sloppy (one side of my head was close to the root and the other side of my head looked like a geometrical mess that a 5 year old painted). And my hair was orange. Not blonde. And when I mentioned it, I had to argue and was told that that's how they are supposed to be because you can't bleach too close to the root. I rebutted by saying that if that's the case, why would one side of my head be highlighted 2 cms from my scalp and the other side 2 INCHES away from the root. I'm sure she also saw this because after I told her I part my hair on a certain side, she styled it to cover that side because it was so messed up. After more back and forth, they agreed to fix the roots. And their attempt at fixing it was bleaching all my roots entirely and practically attempting to burn my scalp off. At this point, I told them to wash it off immediately because I'm going to another salon now to fix this mess (if you'd like to hear more about this ridiculous journey - see MG hair artistic, another freaking fiasco). They then told me that I had to pay for it - and this is where I popped. I was not going to pay them for ruining my hair so I can pay someone else to fix it. And after 5 hours of sitting there?! You should be paying me for wasted time. Long story short - do NOT let them come anywhere near you with bleach. Just pay a 5 year old in crayons, give me a pot of bleach and a paint brush and they'd do the same job this salon would. read more

I just went there yesterday & got a pixie for $20. My hair turned out exactly the way I wanted after showing the stylist a picture. My only wish was that everyone spoke English fluently but she nonetheless understood what I wanted. This place use to be Top Point Beauty. With the combination of Sky Point and Top Point, I have been coming here for years. Sadly I have to note that there is a language barrier with some of the stylists here if you do not speak Chinese, However the other stylists work well together and will translate for you. With cheap prices and latest trends in hair style, its clear they know how tame and manage hair. Men's hair cuts are only 8$ without tip. read more

Maggie! She is awesome. Come here and ask for her. I first came here over a decade ago (eek) when it was called "Top Point" but will still pop in whenever I'm visiting my parents in Flushing and in need of a wash or trim. I don't live close by anymore. I've had my hair permed (body wave, digital perm) and cut here many a times. It's clean and Maggie is really sweet. The hair washes are very thorough (though, they don't always do the Taiwanese style hair washes that I LOVE), the prices affordable and the haircuts decent. But I feel bad cheating on my Japanese hair stylist in the Village so I usually go to her, since she is closer to me too. But if you are reading this and are in need of a new stylist, come here. Yelp brought me here! I didn't want anything fancy, I was searching up places solely just for a hair cut and I liked how they open up pretty early, 9AM for those early birds! I was there super early and Maggie wasn't there yet as the other reviews suggested, however the lady who did cut my hair was nice, I forgot to catch her name. I showed her a picture of a girl with layered hair and I was able to talk it out with what I wanted specifically. The job was done well for $14 (I had super long hair). This place does not know how to do haircuts. Prices are what attracted me to here initially. I told the owner Maggie to cut it short, she did it in the 15 minutes including blowing drying. Didn't seem to pay too much attention, but rather get it done quick so she can move on to the next job. I came home then washed my hair and realized she did A very terrible job. There was no layering, it just simple a chop of the ended. Leaving it looking like a broom. A another surprise when I paid she charged way more than last time which was 4 months ago. It was 20% more than what I pay. So not worth my time. I would recommend you go to Subimage on main street instead, they do much better job and give you their honest opinion. I had my first haircut in NY here and loved it. They all speak mandarin and cantonese so there was no language barrier. If you don't speak chinese, just prepare an image of the haircut you want and show it! Tell them "haircut and wash please" and they will understand. Haircuts for men are 8-12$ depending on the haircut difficulty. I always ask for a spiky hairstyle with a line on the side of my head including two washes (the first wash to wash away my hair gel and the second to wash my hair after the haircut). My haircut is 12$ and I usually give 3-4$ tip. They are located near Snowdays in Flushing and you have to walk some stairs to get to the second floor. Very convenient, clean and cheap. read more

I've gotten everything done here from (digital perm, japanese straightening, wash, haircut, highlights, conditioning...) all at cheap/affordable prices. I live about an hour away & come here when I have time. Place is clean, they speak both English & Chinese so there's never an issue communicating as to what am I looking for. Never disappointed, this is the place to go if you're in the area. There's also a convenient municipal parking lot right around the corner and if the lot is full, there are also plenty of cheap garage parking within 1-2 minute walking distance. Cuts are pretty affordable here. The people are also really nice here, especially Maggie. I came here for a cut and a staight perm, but the perm did not turn out the way it was supposed to and I had to make a second trip. Maggie offered to redo a part of the perm for free. However, after a few washes my hair was not straight and was very dry - not the way it's supposed to be. I went back again and she claimed that my hair is too thick and dry already even before the perm. Point is, the haircuts here are okay, not the greatest. But I would not come here again to get my hair permed - $200 down the drain. read more

Came here with my mom on a whim one mid-November afternoon (2015) when she was visiting. I couldn't believe how cheap our shampoo & haircuts were, and both our stylists were good! I have pretty long hair, so I'm used to paying around $100 total in Manhattan salons or getting horrible cuts for cheaper in Chinatown salons. My mom paid but I'm pretty sure my cut was under $20. They really could and probably should charge more. It's almost February and my hair still looks good. This place is not swanky, of course, very no-nonsense. read more
