I went in on a Sunday morning and they seemed busy already with probably Five other clients. However they were friendly and were quick to see me. It was a spacious salon and had a lot of good lighting from the large windows facing the street. My hair dresser did a good job in giving me a layered haircut but I wish that he had made the layers more wispy like in the reference photo that I showed him. But he did a good job blending everything together with the shorter front layers that I had already prior to coming into the salon. It was $53 because I had to use my credit card. But it would have been $50 if it was cash. This is for a shampoo, cut, and blow dry. I would try them out again once my hair grows out! read more

Thanks to Yelp, I was able to find my kiddo a new spot closer to us, for a stylish haircut without breaking the bank. It's still an average cost of $30+ but as far as I was told, they didn't charge extra for short vs long hair like other spots nearby, for a man's haircut. Cannot confirm the same for ladies. Our stylist was named Tino. (Not Tina) She was very nice and looked at the two photos I showed her to understand what kind of cut he wanted. I didn't know the "verbiage" at first but after exhausting Google and speaking with her, I got it right. He wanted a fade on the sides and fringe on the front/long bangs but above the eye brows. Ok! The cut included hair washing before and a rinse after, then she did her final trim and edits. Tino spoke English and Mandarin so communication was not hard. There was no appointment needed on this particular Sunday but I did call ahead to confirm if there was availability. It was our first visit so I didn't know which stylist he needed. Luckily we got a good one by chance. The salon had a chic vibe but still felt relaxed. No one rushed us in and out of the chair. The chairs were neatly spaced out so you were not on top of one another. I liked that there was a waiting area for me since I was not getting a cut. And when it was his turn, they motioned me to the empty chair in the next spot so I could watch them cut his hair. We only waited a few minutes before they started on him so it was a good 1/2 hr service. We shall return. read more

I had an appointment with Jonathan to dye my hair pink for Halloween. The price covered Olaplex, global bleach + dye, and a haircut. Since I ended up not getting the haircut, Jonathan said I could come back in the next three months and get a cut for free! Also, during the appointment, we discovered some staining in my hair that we didn't expect to see (I had cut off all my previously dyed hair, so everything left should have been virgin). Jonathan offered for me to come back the week after to have the color fixed for free, since the staining affected the result! His dedication to perfection and good service was really impressive! The only thing that I didn't like was that the process left some weird residue in my hair that was really difficult to wash out and made my hair almost unmanageable for two weeks (took a whole day to dry, got knotted, couldn't comb through, felt slimy) no matter how much I tried to shampoo it out. However, I read online that this sometimes happens for people with really fine hair, so maybe it's just me. Overall, I had a great experience! read more

They ended up turning me Barbie blonde which was pretty but didn't suit me at all. The bleaching also completely ruined by hair to where it was gummy and stretchy when wet. For about 7 months, I couldn't even brush my hair without it snapping. Another time, I went blonde back to my natural dark brown color and they didn't properly fill the blonde color with reds, so my hair ended up green in the sunlight. I've been there twice and the first time I came in, I had messy balyage hair that needed fixing. There was bleach all over the tips of my hair, and it was a difficult journey going from balayage to peekaboo because we had to colorblock bleach sections of my hair and dye the rest black. Absolutely IN LOVE with this salon! Before discovering Ha1R One, I've been wanting to dye my hair for a while but had no time and didn't know where to go due to my busy schedule. I noticed that a lot of my friends have been going here so I decided to give this place a try. I finally had one free day in April and spontaneously messaged Tom if there were any spots open for me on a Sunday. He told me I was lucky because someone had JUST cancelled and had fit me in. I was really hesitant at first because it's pretty pricey. Although it is pricey, it's absolutely worth the amount of time you spend and the money you're paying for. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair from friends, coworkers, classmates, and even from random strangers who stop me in the middle of the street to tell me they love the color of my hair! Everyone asks me where I got it done and it honestly couldn't make me any happier when people compliment my hair and tell me it looks amazing! Although it took about 9-10 hours to get my hair done, their service there was amazing. They offered to buy me food but I felt bad that I just end up not taking the offer! But I have seen and heard people who have! Tom's assistant Jason is amazing! He constantly kept coming over and checking up on me to make sure I was doing okay when my hair was being bleached (twice because my hair color was all sorts of crazy self bleached). Unfortunately, the hair color that I got dyed had eventually faded after a few washes (around 3 weeks with purple shampooing it everyday?). I knew the color wasn't going to stay long so it wasn't a surprise or disappointment. After a couple of months, what eventually ended up happening was the original dyed colored hair washed off completely and I have this ashy champagne gold blonde left. Even with this, I have so many people complimenting my hair! They all said that the way my hair was dyed and bleached came out so nice and blended out evenly on the top! I really couldn't be more happy to hear that! I have already recommended this place to a couple of friends and have so many friends who currently go there! I spent close to $400 here after tips and tax.. to say I'm livid is the least I could say. I walked out of the salon after spending 11 grueling hours there from 11 am to 10 pm. This was last month and since we're still in a pandemic I thought they'd limit the amount of people in the salon, but no that was not the case. On the left side of the salon where they were bleaching people's hair, every seat was filled. They did not wipe anything down or sanitize anything or at least I didnt see them do it in the 11 hours I was there. I had tom do my hair, but most of the time it was his assistant, on the initial consultation I told him That I did not want to bleach my roots because what I wanted was a balayage/ ombré fade. He agreed it'd be fine if we didn't then told his assistant in chinese to bleach my roots... as she started putting bleach onto my roots I told her that Tom and I discussed that we weren't going to bleach my roots. she called tom over & he told me it'd be best if I did it because it'll be easier for him to do my hair next time, all this was happening as bleach was already on my roots. Mind you he bleached my roots blonde just to put a dark toner back in..... ALSO when the bleach started burning the ish out of my scalp cause it was on my roots I told the assistant and she called tom over, he asked if I could endure the pain for 10 more minutes..... they do not care about your hair they only care about the end result & the picture they can post on Instagram! Jonathan from Jonathan-colors even stepped in once to see my hair & told tom I didn't need to bleach the bottom again, mind you this would be my third round of bleach, Tom refused to listen & bleached it anyways. In the end the hair was completely different from what I wanted, not even remotely close. I asked 50x to get my hair a warm tone and here I am walking out with my hair looking like a witch's broom! It's dry, it keeps falling out in huge amounts (at least 15 strands at once when I comb my hair through with my hands) He said it'll fade to the color I want in 2 weeks,'it's been 3 weeks and it's the same ugly color I despise. He kept making excuses saying that my hair doesn't look the way I want because we're indoors and the other pic i referenced was out doors. it does not even have the same dimension I asked for and it seems like there's just one color: ash blonde ( when I asked for warm blonde) . I wanted to cry, I still want to cry. I will never go back to this salon again. I booked the mystery dye promotion with Tino! Tino was so easy to book with through instagram. She was very responsive, asked what I wanted and sent the prices without me having to ask. She also told me right off that bat that the whole process would take at least 6 hours and it took exactly 6 hours from start to finish. I was shocked that she could time it so well! During the process, Tino was very attentive and worked on my hair occasionally with the assistant. She also cut and styled my hair really well and picked a color for me that my inner child has always wanted but could never achieve anywhere else. Overall, I am very happy with the results. I did a walk-in for a women's haircut since my usual salon was closed. I was glad they could take me and I barely had to wait. I showed the barber the exact style I wanted, a medium-length layered look (first pic posted). We agreed on a length for my hair, he showed me about 1-2 inches that he would cut off and I agreed to it. He cut off some hair from the front and I immediately realized it was not the length we agreed on but I decided to trust the process since I usually have shorter layers in the front anyways. When he finished styling, I started to feel very nervous since it seemed like he had cut about half my hair off. I told him that my hair looked too short and he got mad at me (???) and was trying to convince me that it was the length we had agreed on. The ends are also extremely blunt which would be fixable if he hadn't cut it so short. Not to mention the style is completely off. The worst part was him trying to gaslight me into thinking that this was the length I wanted and getting mad that I didn't agree. Great great service! Owen is so patient and did great job with my hair! Weekend is crazy busy over there. First time I went there on Saturday, customers are waiting on the chair, luckily, I have my appointment. The lady gave me a temperature test then introduced me to Owen. They have curtain between seats and all the workers were wearing mask and some of them were wearing special glasses too. I sit there 7 hours to finish my hair. Wowowowowow Y'all. I've found my new spot. Every step of this experience has been so amazing. A coworker recommended Jonathan once I told her I wanted lavender hair but had bad bleaching experiences in the past. Things I loved: 1)DM'd Jonathan with a pic of what I wanted he responded immediately and gave me a quote after having me take a picture of my hair and send it to him. No need to go in for a consultation. 2) They hooked me up with coffee, pizza, and a phone bank to keep me charged. Thank you Tom I had heard only great things about Tom from several friends, so I decided to get a balayage done with him. I ended up being in the salon for a good seven hours and throughout my session, Tom asked if I was hungry and wanted anything to eat. I really appreciate how attentive him and his staff were. I've been following Jonathan on IG since a few of my friends got their hair colored by him. I finally decided to go post quarantine to treat myself. I don't have typical Asian hair; it's curly, frizzy, and a bit unhealthy due to constant hair straightening. I decided to do the keratin treatment. First off; they definitely take the post quarantine precautionary measures. The nice front desk girl checked my temperature, and everyone was wearing masks. Jonathan sat down next to me and inspected my hair, asking what I wanted. I told him I wanted the treatment and if possible, also a balayage. He immediately said that it wasn't possible because with balayage, it would involve bleaching the hair and that ruins the whole point of the keratin treatment. So I asked him if it was possible to just do the balayage instead. He said it would be better if I did the keratin treatment first and then perhaps come back a couple months later for the balayage. I love it when a stylist is honest with you. He obviously cares about hair and wants his clients to look great. I mentioned that I still want to have some lighter color in my hair and he showed me two variations of a dark brown that he said he would be able to do for me without bleach. Stephanie was the one that mostly worked on my hair. She was very sweet, kept asking if I was okay and if I needed to use the bathroom. I think I almost cried when she washed my hair because it felt so good! I loved that despite the number of clients he had, Jonathan still came by to check on my progress quite a few times. TLDR: skillful colorists but THE WORST customer experience. I ended up with a hair color completely different than what I asked for, and when I complained, they accused me of going back on what I wanted even though I was VERY CLEAR. They make zero effort to work with you to achieve your desired results. Also ended up with bleach burns. They didn't use any treatment on my hair either. Now I have really damaged hair. I was in Flushings for the day and this salon happened to have room for a walk-in. The reviews seemed good and their Instagram looked great. I thought I would be in really good hands here, but I was severely wrong. The customer service here is atrocious. My hair colorist was Sean, who's apparently worked at the salon for 10 years. It seems that he, along with most workers in the Salon, has pretty poor English so that might be a concern if you don't speak Chinese. Luckily, I was able to get by with my Chinese, however limited it was. In the consultation, I told them clearly that I wanted a mushroom brown or ash brown color. I emphasized that I needed a natural color because I have interviews soon and needed to look professional. I even showed them example photos to illustrate what I wanted. Shortly after, Sean and Li Er started bleaching my hair, which resulted in multiple chemical burns along the side of my face from the bleach. I pointed out areas that seemed darker than others, but they dismissed my concerns: "oh it's never perfect, you can't expect it to be perfect." Moreover, they don't use olaplex or any hair treatments after bleaching -- I asked them about it but they just said there's nothing they could use to repair bleach damage. After 3 hours of bleaching, we were finally ready to start coloring my hair. I, again, showed Jonathan two pictures of mushroom brown and ash brown hair. He only looked at them extremely briefly before rushing to mix the color. He never confirmed with me which colors I wanted, or to ensure we had a mutual understanding. 5 minutes later, Sean returned with the prepared color and applied some on a test strand. Once the color developed on my hair, I told them that the color looked nothing like the photo I'd shown them. The color they gave me was pure grey, with a hint of purple. When I complained that the color wasn't brown, Sean blamed me for not being clear on what I wanted. He accused me of going back on what I wanted. First of all, I have always been clear that I wanted something subtle, something work appropriate. How is a midtone gray-purple subtle??? Second, I showed them photos with "mushroom brown" literally in the picture title. If they had looked or communicated with me at any point during the process, they would have known that I wanted a BROWN. Third, they never made any attempt to confirm what I wanted. Whenever I showed them photos, they just waved them away and said, "oh it's all the same. I know that color." I have never EVER had such an uncomfortable experience. In the end, they said that if I wanted a warmer color, I could wait two weeks and the color would naturally fade. To be fair, the actual color they picked was very pretty. I don't doubt the skills of the colorists. HOWEVER, for the price I paid, I expected quality customer service. The workers numerously dismissed my concerns and even fought back when I communicated my issues. They also made no attempt to work with me to achieve what I wanted. For over $400, I expect to walk out of the salon with the look I wanted, not to wait another two weeks of shampooing to get what I wished for. Bottom line: they're good at what they do but I will not be coming back. I have been to this salon three times and after my last visit I'm done with this place. This salon is very good at bleaching Asian hair. If you have Asian hair and have been having troubles with getting it bleached come here, they're very good at it. They're good at doing silver or platinum. The team works hard, they provide water, chargers, you can order food online and have it delivered and they'll get it for you while your hair is being done. As this salon has gotten more popular, the quality of service has dropped. I can tell that team members are feeling burned out after working long hours everyday. I scheduled an appointment with Tom for my last visit and he barely touched my hair the whole 12 hours I was there (I was only supposed to be there for 6-7). When I got there, without asking me what I wanted done they just began bleaching my hair. Without asking me if I wanted my roots bleached as well, they went ahead and bleached my roots. It burned so bad because I have a sensitive scalp but they didn't know that because they didn't bother to ask. I didn't know they were planning bleaching my roots because the pictures I sent Tom prior to my visit all had black roots and my roots were already very much black- I didn't get a chance to tell them I didn't want it. Throughout my visit they left me waiting with nothing happening in my hair because everyone was busy working on other people. They shouldn't do this. They shouldn't over book themselves where they leave other customers waiting. The worst is when they left me in the sink for almost 30 minutes. There wasn't even a treatment or conditioner in my hair- I was just left there. When it was time for my haircut, he didn't ask me how I wanted it cut, only how much I wanted cut off. At the end they also style your hair- but don't be fooled. These curls won't last longer than the time it takes them to take their pictures for their Instagram. As soon as I walked out of the door the curls were gone. Specifically yesterday I came in for dark ash brown hair. I left with a disgusting orange brown color that looked nothing like the picture. The worst part was that Tom defended his actions (not really his actions because he didn't work on my hair) and because of a communication barrier I couldn't really understand why he was defending himself. I don't want to argue. If a customer is unsatisfied with the results you shouldn't argue or defend yourself you should ask how to make it better. Even after he tried to fix it (again not him working on my hair) the end result was still horrible- not at all what I asked for. I found out about Jonathan through mutuals. It took me a while to build up the courage to dye my hair, but I messaged Jonathan last week and that was when this whole process started. I texted him how my current hair situation is like, my hair history, and what I was trying to achieve. To add to it, my best friend wanted to do the same hair color as well. I asked him for the next availability for two and we agreed on the date. Coming into the salon, I was dreading the 8 hour process, but hey good things take time right? My first time trying out this salon I heard many good things about this place, plus my friend went here for her hair color, it looked amazing on her so I decide to give it a try. I contacted Jonathan thru Wechat booked the appointment almost a month ago and took the day off for this appointment. I'm thinking of getting keratin treatment and a hair cut First walk into the place, its crowded with customers which is expected on a Sunday. I was greeted with a very kind receptionist. He offer me robe and a seat to wait. then Jonathan came to talk to me about what I need for my hair today. He then ask the receptionist guy to wash my hair and offer me phone charger, water to drink and WiFi password ( super thoughtful!!!). He later recommended a stylist to me since hair treatment is not his area. Park is the one who was recommend to me. He might be professional and all but definitely lack of customer service. While he was doing my hair, he seems like his mind was so occupied with other stuff that he is too busy to focus on my hair. He was constantly looking around and the worst part is he is so rough with his hand, he scratched back of my neck and my ears couple times, he also pulled my hair really hard when he was combing my. hair. It hurt so much I want to ask him to be gentle BUT he was too occupied looking around that he didn't even see I try to talk to him! What a shame. During the treatment, park just put the solution in my hair and wrapped it with plastic wrap. Everything else was done by the assistance or the helper! During the treatment, Park was chatting with a customer while doing her hair and did not even bother to check on me. Customer service much? On the other side, two guys who washed my hair and flat ironed my hair were super nice and gentle.
