Freeflight is a great place to start your journey into the skies, They have instructors that fit you and don't push you on any instructor. The choice is yours to make, so chose carefully. Try out their introductory flight where after a short one on one with a instructor you walk out get in your plane. After a quick preflight inspection the excitement really builds as you get into the PILOTS SEAT. Once you get seatbelted in and the checklist is in your hand and all the items get checked off it is time for the engine to roar to life. Off you taxi to the runway stopping for a run-up check . Now it is time to fly and you are at the controls you spend most of the flight at the controls getting a feel for the plane, Once you land you get a logbook with your time logged in and signed by your instructor. Was hooked up with Freeflight Aviation through a gift given to me by my children for Christmas from Cloud 9 Experience. Back in the '70s, I had the intention of going for my private pilot's license, and had a friend and classmate who was an instructor. Took the ground courses, but could never afford proper flight lessons so I gave up the dream. My flight lesson with Freeflight was a wonderful trip down memory lane, and an incredible experience. There is a nice laid-back vibe to the airport and its in a very scenic location. For my Cessna 210, they did a removal and re-install overhauled engine, installed a JPI 900 analyzer to replace the steam gauges, installed a Tannis heater, plus miscellaneous shop items, AND an annual inspection for $6600-labor in 7.5 chargable work days!! It spent a little over 2 weeks in the shop. Wow Yes I'm a regular customer and I have two Cessna's they maintain. Excellent track/documentation with logs. And very pleasant and respectful attitude toward aircraft owners. They look around for best deals on parts. I saved $900+ on having McFarlane make up a new cable rather than purchase the Cessna cable on their advice. They fix stuff and often have given me free consulting advice for minor squawks. read more

Have flown all over the planet and this is my home sweet home flying club. The aircraft are maintained properly, the SOPs are clear, the prices are truly the last bastion of reasonable in the northeast, there's a culture of safety and respect for the aircraft among members. The depth and breadth of knowledge among the staff is outstanding. I can't say enough about their customer service too- Barbara and Frank have been fair, professional, kind; they run their business with integrity. After 30-year hiatus from GA, Bob McCabe checked me out in 172 this past winter -- great experience. Then bought my own plane in spring. Franks's guidance was, and continues to be, priceless. Gene, the instructor, is a fantastic, enthusiastic flyer and instructor. And it shows. After introductions, Gene gave a great overview of the instruments, aerodynamics, and the general procedures. At the plane he thoroughly guided me through the pre-flight check and procedures. All through the introduction, the pre-flight, the flight, and the post-flight Gene kept the pace of instruction and guidance moving at the perfect pace - not too slow, nor too quick. The Flying W is a great airport in a beautiful location with a nice little café that serves you good food while you watch the airplanes land and take-off. I got my discovery flight here and that's when I knew I truly wanted to become a pilot.
