This only deals with the initial experience, I have no idea about how competent the PTs are or how…read moreeffective the treatment's are as I didn't get past the initial consult. Arrive for appointment to a dark office, as a new patient, I'm not certain where to go exactly so I sit in the waiting room until someone walks by, looks at me, keeps walking and then stops and asks me 'may I help you?' I respond I'm here for PT and she points me to the room marked 'Physical Therapy' as apparently there is a separate front desk there which could not be seen from what I thought was the waiting room for the PT practice. Go the PT reception desk and say I'm here for my appointment. Get handed a clip board with 8-10 pages of paper on it with zero instructions, not even a single word. Okay fine, sure. Sit down and proceed to enter repetitive information and some fields have already had someone hand write information in such as referring Dr, etc , folks, it's 2025, why is paper forms even a thing? So go thru that fun, then get handed a tablet with 'here, you need to do this' um, sure. So do that, and I really had to say something about the experience so far. Then get put in an examination room, and in comes the PT who sits down and starts asking questions about the injury, how it happened, what my understanding was, what treatment was done, how much fluid was drained, what injections were done, etc. Part of the reason why I chose to get PT here was because it is associated with my Ortho Drs practice so they would have direct access to my treatment record and all of that information was in the record. I have zero issues talking about issues related to the injury that is not in the treatment record but please don't try to buy yourself time because you didn't review the record prior to coming in by asking needlessly repetitive questions. I'm not a medical expert so asking me how much fluid was drained when it's listed in the treatment record so you can 'get my understanding' is going to accomplish exactly what? If I do remember the exact number, it's just to confirm what's in the treatment record and if I give you the wrong number, it proves what exactly? So at this point, questioned exactly what was the point of asking me information that is contained in my treatment record and that I have zero issues providing any information related to the injury that is not listed. First time I have ever walked out of a medical office but I will not be going back. This experience was really poor which is very disappointing considering how much I love my Ortho Drs and staff there.

As she mentioned he was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and had outstanding bedside manner. He took the time to listen, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand during the exam and made me feel completely at ease. What stood out most was the flexibility and thoughtfulness in discussing treatment options and next steps--I never felt rushed and truly felt included in the decision-making process. It's rare to find a provider who combines expertise with genuine compassion. I'm very grateful for such a positive first visit and would highly recommend this practice. Everyone from the front desk personnel, his administrative staff, the x-ray technician, then his shadowing residents x2 were great. I visited the 20th st location but will visit Georgetown due to ease of transport.

Dear GT Medstar Medical Team,…read more My name is Sheila Westerfield and I was an in-patient at your hospital from October 25 through October 30, 2024. I must apologize because this email thank you is a very long time coming, however, I have been working on my recovery and PT. I wanted to thank each of you for your amazing care both medically, physically and emotionally as your team and you guided me through my recovery period at the hospital during my stay. From the excellent medical care and advice that was given to me both pre op hip replacement surgery to post op surgery, Dr. Park, I must say you are the BEST! I am so grateful that you are and were my surgeon involved in my care from the day I came to you for consultation, during and after my surgery and your excellent follow up and care! Your attentiveness to my requests and care will always be appreciated with deep gratitude. You also possess an amazing beside manner. I grew up in a family of physicians from my grandfather, uncle and brother -- so I am quite familiar with the quality of care that can be given to a patient -- not just medically, but the overall support emotionally that makes an outstanding doctor like yourself stand out from the rest. Thank you! Secondly and not really secondly, the amazing care that I received from the nursing staff, your staff, Dr. Park -- your resident, the physical therapists, nurse techs, the client care experience staff and down to the young man who cleaned my room twice a day and the food services staff, I remain extremely grateful. The quality of care and attention and kindness and compassion of all of the staff mentioned above (the names are listed below) -- I hope that I didn't leave anyone out, please know how fabulous you all are and I am grateful that you chose the medical profession because you are exactly where you belong. You all have huge hearts and exude patience and devotion to the career you chose. It is my hope that the director's of GT Medstar and your immediate supervisors and managers will have the opportunity to see this email. Because I don't have access to their emails, I am hopeful that this email will be forwarded to each -- from the president/ceo at GT, the head of the surgical orthopedics department, the head of nursing and patient experience department, director of physical therapy, food services and the janitorial department. I am healing quickly -- walking sometimes without a cane and having no difficulty navigating my 14 steps (LOL). All of this is due to the excellent care that each of you provided me and your encouragement each step of the way. The qualities that each of you possess are those that each person who has to undergo surgery or just a stay at the hospital prays for!!!! I know for certain as I am a praying "gal" who when my eyes open I am prayerful and thankful and before they close my prayers and gratefulness are repeated to my God -- and, what I can say is that HE answered my prayers, for TRUE!!!!! I wish each of you all of the BLESSINGS that God has in store for each of you and your families. I know that each day that you come to work, you are BLESSING yet many more patients! Thank you again. I will continue to keep each of you close to my heart and in my prayers. Tomorrow, my plan is to post this on Google!!!!!!! Blessings. With much thanks, Sheila H. Anybody who has had significant back/spine issues can tell you there's no clear path out of the pit…read moreof despair that is constant pain and inability to live an active, full life. And there's a bit of luck involved -- finding the right doctor, selecting the right treatments or surgery, and with the latter hoping you're not going to be among the % of people whose surgery is unsuccessful. There are reviews on here from people who no doubt were on the wrong side of that, and it's awful. Maybe something went wrong, maybe they were among the tough cases that Dr. O'Brien takes on despite the risks involved. But my experience was different. Dr. O'Brien was the right surgeon, with the right surgery (lumbar disc replacement) that ended my several years of agony and dread of lifelong disability. I had a previous surgery with another doctor, which did not fix the problem. Disc replacement was an absolute godsend and Dr. O'Brien and his team performed mine flawlessly -- plus his office was able to get insurance to pay for it, which was not easy (and not available to everyone, sadly). ADR is a difficult surgery -- there aren't many doctors who perform it regularly, let alone consider it a strength/specialty. But Dr. O does. I conducted extensive research prior to my surgery and he's among the top 2-3 docs for ADR in the D.C. area. If you're a good candidate for ADR, don't hesitate -- it's a way better choice than a fusion. There's a Facebook group you can search for, where you can learn more from actual patients. Just choose your surgeon wisely.
