He carefully talked our daughter through the upcoming procedure with reassurance and kindness. This was just what she needed, because she typically experiences anxiety before her medical or dental appointments. With Dr. Landis, on the morning we were driving over for her wisdom teeth removal, she was totally calm and relaxed with no anxiety. Dr. Landis is just seriously such a wonderful physician. I was so nervous the first time I went in and they all made me feel welcome, comfortable and they even remembered me specifically each time I went in! They all really cared about my wellbeing which isn't something you can find just anywhere. I went in for a lip surgery and while I had to stay awake through it, they continuously checked in with me to make sure I was okay, and I didn't even feel a thing! Following 2 failed root canals over a period of years, ultimately required extraction of a first…read moremolar. [Previous root canals performed in other out of town dentists' offices.] Dr. Detomasi was pleasant, professional, and above all, clinically skilled. The extraction procedure was relatively painless in spite of long term, chronic infection and a stubbornly embedded, elongated root on the tooth. Post procedure, there was little to no pain, or swelling. However, may I stress the importance of following post-extraction care protocol to the letter. To not do so, is to invite post-op complications of swelling, infection, dry socket syndrome, and the need for further intervention. A one star downgrade is based on the behavior and demeanor of front office staff who were noted to be unprofessional. Young women sitting on, or reclining over [not at] their desks, chatting and laughing loudly when one enters the waiting room do not present a desirable first impression. In addition, several minutes elapsed before my presence was acknowledged. The messy waiting room itself might have caught their attention; it did mine. Magazines were in disarray on tables and on the floor, as were tissues, other debris. I would encourage more attention to staff professionalism and housekeeping. Other than that, my impression of Dr. Detomasi is positive and I heartily recommend his services.
