We did a lot of research before leaving our pup the first time and were also recommended here by a co-worker. Couldn't have been more happy to find such a hidden gem! Rayder loves it here and they are very thorough at making sure they cater needs specific to each dog. Easy to keep in touch on the Gingr app or email. Sky Blue has become my fur babies home away from home. I did a lot of research prior to dropping of Milo, since he is a very reactive dog and doesn't do great around new dogs. The beauty about this place is that they are one of the few places in the area that accepts reactive dogs. I dropped Milo off for a daycare test run and I was nervous all day, but I told myself no news is good news. Of course, when I picked him up there was no concerns. After his first over night stay he has grown to know and love the staff, who I appreciate so much! I read some reviews about how they don't answer the phone, and they do ask for the best response to send email since they are working with many dogs they can't always man the phone. So if you have questions just email them they will get to you in a timely manner. I have asked for progress pics when I had longer stays out of town, and they were quick and happy to respond. They did not allow my dogs to socialize with other dogs because of their breed. Regardless of the fact that my dogs are well socialized and have no history of any aggression. I was very disappointed with the owner being unprofessional during the process, unable to provide me with proper communication or justification for the isolated treatment of my dogs. It's very clear that they have issues with larger dog breeds, but that's very disappointing given the industry. read more

Disappointed by Lack of Observation and Communication - We chose this kennel for our dog's boarding based on its many positive reviews. We were hopeful that the personal attention mentioned by other customers would be a good fit for our slightly anxious husky mix, and we even paid for him to be bathed before we picked him up. Unfortunately, shortly after we got home, I discovered that he had chewed his tail quite severely, leaving a noticeable open wound. I understand that a new environment can be stressful, and I don't blame the kennel for my dog's anxiety. My frustration is with the fact that this was apparently never noticed or, if it was, never communicated to me. Given that we paid for a bath, the wound should have been impossible to miss by anyone handling his tail. I reached out to the kennel to ask if any staff had seen him chewing his tail or had noticed the injury. They told me they would look into it, but that was several days ago, and I have yet to receive a response. While the facility itself seems fine, the lack of basic observation and poor follow-up communication is concerning. We are upset and disappointed to find that what we hoped would be a positive experience ended in us needing to pay for veterinary care for our dog. read more

SkyBlue Kennels could not be better!! We love the people here. They're so easy to work with, so flexible when you need a last minute spot, and SO GREAT with our dog! Our mini aussie Leo is obsessed with this place and starts shrieking with joy the minute we turn down the driveway. He always comes home tired and happy. We can tell how much he loves it because when we come to pick him up, he has to wiggle and give goodbye hugs and kisses to the whole staff over and over! We joke that he is the "Mayor of Tiny Town" because he loves it there so much. I have to roll my eyes at the 1-star keyboard warriors complaining that they don't answer the phone. First, they respond to voicemails SUPER fast, just leave a vm. And second, oh no--you mean they're actually, you know, TAKING CARE OF THE DOGS instead of hanging out at the front desk? My husband and I dropped off our dog here to try them out. The pickup and drop off is easy. Just be aware of the times. I wasn't a fan of the pick up as the person who retrieved my dog let go of the leash so my dog could run towards me. It was a pain to try to undo their leash and put my leash on him as he was overly excited. Also be aware when I picked up on a Sunday he had just eaten his breakfast and it was after 2. I readjusted his feeding schedule. My dog was exhausted after pickup and slept most of the day at home. I had no complaints there. I'm posting on behalf of my family member that boarded a senior dog at this facility, who would like to remain anonymous. My family member informed me that their pet came home with scratched paws and was very clearly showing declines in their health, after it was found doses were skipped on their medication (they received the medication with more than expected back). Now they have the added stress of having to closely monitor their dog for seizures. I feel SkyBlue could have taken better care of them and if I could leave no stars , I would. read more

I was inclined to write this review after reading some of the others recently and felt the need to write about our experience. We used SkyBlue Kennels over a year ago to board our very sweet senior dog over a holiday. She is a very, very affectionate dog. She is a favorite at our vet because of her loving, kind nature. We had used this kennel several times in the past with no issues. However, when we brought her home after a week, she was a shell of her former self. It took many weeks, even months for her to fully recover. She hid under the table, would not look at us, would not eat, did not want to play or be petted. I don't know what happened there, but I know it had to be something traumatic. We will never bring her back to Blue Sky Kennels. I have an inkling that they must have isolated her because of a biased attitude toward her breed. We are now afraid to ever leave her in the care of any boarder ever again. read more

Kenneled and groomed my 2 dogs here and had a great experience!! My dogs even got out of the car without trouble when we went back and they ate their food with no problem during their stay, which speaks wonders about the staff here! My eldest dog, my grumpy old man, is a realllly hard dog to groom, but their groomer Jennifer handled him like a champ! So going back for all my kennel and grooming needs. Sky Blue Kennels sits on 6 lush green acres surrounded by trees, where the beloved Canine Hilton successfully operated for 43 years. We were longtime clients of Canine Hilton, and have been looking for an all-in-one (boarding/playcare/grooming) place to take our dogs ever since CH closed. And like Canine Hilton before it, ALL BREEDS ARE WELCOME at Sky Blue Kennels. If Sky Blue doesn't accept a dog, it's likely due to behavior ... The dog is reactive or aggressive towards other dogs or people ... Or, the dog is simply miserable in daycare and would be happier with an at-home petsitter. Some dogs don't like hanging out all day with other dogs, and that's ok! Some people are the same way, and that's ok too! In any case, Sky Blue will tell you if group daycare is (or isn't) a good match for your dog. (Some places don't.) If you have a large/giant breed dog that needs grooming, or you're in need of boarding or daycare for multiple dogs, this is the place to go. They have the facilities and the equipment to care for and groom giant breeds (Great Danes, Newfoundlands, St. Bernards), with spacious, air conditioned indoor/outdoor kennels to hold them in until pick up. Finding a groomer for a giant breed can be tough. Most grooming places are only equipped for smaller-than-giant animals. Often they use wire crates and don't have the space, equipment, or large enough crates needed to accommodate giant breeds. I'm happy to say there are no wire crates in the grooming area at SkyBlue ... And, the groomer (Kylie) is fantastic! Kylie is a fun, sweet, and easygoing person, who lovingly grooms my giant baby for ALOT less money than other places we've been, so we can go more often. Best of all, my dog doesn't hate me anymore after a groom appointment. Meaning: He no longer refuses to eat, nor does he "nope" (mope) and throw "stink-eye" for a week. These days, my "what-for" has been reduced to a five minute guilt trip of "brokenhearted sad face," only because our dog adamantly opposes a "sani-cut." That's how I know Sky Blue is the right place for us. My dogs come home clean, tired (we add playcare to grooming), and happy! Sky Blue Kennels offers a "board and train" program, as well as a "train-only" program (no boarding.) I haven't tried it yet, but plan to check it out for our newest rescue pup. Tip 1: Your dog needs at least the first of their two bivalent flu vaccinations (+ standard shots & bordatella) to board or play. Bivalent flu vaccine is NOT a requirement for a grooming appointment, but "groom only" dogs that aren't vaccinated for flu aren't allowed to hang out with the boarding & playcare dogs. Tip 2: Second dog is only $5 for playcare. AND second dog is $15 for boarding in same kennel. AND kennels are definitely big enough for two! Even with a giant breed. Most importantly - boarding dogs get playcare, lots of love, and plenty of fun-time with other dogs and staff. Everyone at Sky Blue wholeheartedly LOVES dogs. That's why my dogs and I love Sky Blue. Never give SkyBlue Kennels your business! They do not deserve it. Sierra, the manager, and her entire staff are extremely unprofessional, lazy, and rude. Sky Blue Kennels does not return and listen to voicemails. Sierra hung up on me and refused to wait for me to make an online account because their staff refuses to make reservations over the phone (why have a business phone if you can't do that?!). The staff did not know what they were doing at all, made me wait on hold for a long time, and ended the phone call while I was waiting on hold. When I called back, the person at the front desk refused to identify themselves, said they didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned Sierra's unprofessional behavior, and didn't help me at all. I asked for Sierra's supervisor's information and the front desk refused to give me that information which was extremely oppressive and unprofessional. SkyBlue Kennels sucks! read more

Julie and her team lavish love on our dogs every time. The dogs are so excited to see her and sometimes don't even want to come home lol. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my babies. Great place where you know they will care for your pets with as much love as their own. There are indoor/outdoor kennels and the dogs get tons of play time as opposed to place where you have to pay extra for walks or petting. Her hashtags included things like #cantwaitforthereview. I would never recommend this place for the mere fact that the owner might make fun of my dogs behind my back and then post about it on Instagram or Facebook. It was the most unprofessional thing that I can recall happening in a long time after simply questioning why my mothers dog food cans were untouched in the bag when she went to pick them up. History seems to show us that when people are defensive immediately and jump to name calling, they are likely hiding something. So unfortunate- used this place for a long time and will absolutely never go back. read more

We followed Julie from a previous kennel she worked at, to SkyBlue and we had the greatest experience. I love how they constantly update you through Facebook with pictures of your dogs, playing and enjoying themselves. One thing that blew me away about this Kennel, is I sent an email asking a question about my dogs stay around 9pm. Within an hour I had a very detailed response back to me. I was blown away that Julie made it a point to take time out of her evening to get back to me and answer all my questions. I think we found our new home away from home for our lab, and I can already tell hes very excited to get back there at Christmas time. Thank you so much! read more

Our dogs LOVED their time here at SkyBlue! We usually take our fur babies everywhere, but hesitated taking them doing the summer time to a hot location where they would most likely be miserable. We found these guys and while for the most part everyone was helpful and friendly, when we picked up the dogs - the woman discharging them made a big stink about their fleas and acted as if it was something we weren't trying to take care of. We live in the country and back up to 15 acres of coastal hay "growing," and as hard as we try to get every single one off, Advantage, dips, yard treatments, house bombs on and on - they still will have a few black ones that are dying. I know my husband and I left feeling like crappy dog owners and part of our reason for not bringing them back on our last short trip. Facility is big - lots of play room and again, the dogs seemed like they had a great time and in the end that's what's important. read more

I had a hard time finding anywhere that would take my dog. Kona is 8 months old and not neutered. Skyblue had no issues taking my dog in fact they were excited to have him come! They are happy to have all types of dogs! He had a great time and definitely got a ton of exercise.. he was tired when we got him home. That never happens! We have been bringing our dogs here for boarding for years and could not be happier. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, it's easy to see that they truly care for our babies as much as we do. We never have to worry if they're being properly cared for or treated well and that's such a relief with as much as we travel for work. I have been happily entrusting my dogs to the lovely people at SkyBlue Kennels for two years, and both dogs love it! They let you choose the single, or double kennel, so my dogs can hang together, and they always seem relaxed and calm when I return. The price is reasonable, they have a groomer on premises, and they give them a bath, so all are happy! They go beyond the call of duty, too! While I was recently in Mexico, my oldest dog started coughing, and they quickly called me, and took him to a vet, got medications, and paid for it, letting me pay them back when I returned. Julie and her team have greatly disappointed me. I have always maintained a stellar relationship with every boarding facility/caretaker of my dogs. SkyBlue being the exception. I reached out to the owner (Julie) due to a recent misunderstanding to gain some clarity about the situation, and received a very short, rude email back. I was left quite shocked. I was very mature in my correspondence and her response was not at all called for. It was extremely unprofessional. If you would like to support a business that lacks the ability to communicate respectfully with its clients, then this is the place for you! My only hope is that they don't treat the animals as poorly as they treat their owners. I will be taking my business back to Taurus, where all dogs are always welcome and are treated like family. If you cherish your fur baby, I suggest you do the same. It's not worth coming here just to save a couple of bucks. Just dropped my furry children off for daycare at SkyBlue Kennels. They were through the door before I even had a chance to leash them up....they really LOVE it there! They boarded over Christmas and had a wonderful time. These folks really like dogs, and they know their clients. FM969 is what MLK turns into just east of 183, so you can drop your pups and be downtown in about 15 minutes. The rates are reasonable and the care is first class. SkyBlue Kennels is situated on a large piece of land, so the dogs get plenty of room to run around. I know I can trust them to care for my babies, so what more can you ask for? read more
