It's been 3 years since my last review so time for an update. Me & Tony paired up with Cole & Jason for 18 on this Friday morning in late July. Conditions were top tier and pace of place was excellent, we made 18 in just under 4 hours. From check-in to cart return everything was top tier. I had forgotten how much I liked the course, though it is about an hour drive from my home in Fort Mill. The Staff was great from Michel in the Pro Shop to Tom the starter. It was a hot July day but it was nice to have the beverage cart making regular rounds though out our 18 holes. The greens for the most part were good, just a few show wear from the extreme heat and lack of water. Tee boxes, fairways and bunkers everything was great. We made a quick turn for some food and we were back on track. One of the biggest changes from my last visit are the Top Tracer bays on the driving range, such a great addition! read more

The clubhouse does not honor the price of tee times that are reserved online. They forced us to pay a much higher rate in the clubhouse that was over $20 more per person than what we booked on their website. If your website is wrong, then you should give the benefit of the doubt to your customer and let them have that price. Completely unprofessional and just bad business to do what they did here. I even showed the pro shop the email and booking confirmation I received. Imagine booking an air bnb for a certain price online and then when you show up they bump up the price by $100. You're already there and committed, so they know you aren't just gonna leave. Shame on them. read more

The S.O. was itching to play golf, so he called to book a tee time. The golf pro he spoke with was friendly and accommodating. He was able to get us a late tee time, probably the last one. I don't play golf. Ever. But it was a gorgeous day out, so I figured why not? Can't be that bad, right? Well... I was THAT bad. So bad that my muscles ached in places I didn't know could. The S.O. on the other hand, played really well. We played 9 holes. I don't know much about golf, but the SO is an avid golfer and said that Skybrook deserves a good review because he really enjoyed the course and the service. Since he doesn't Yelp, I'm going to try my best. Here we go... We arrived about 10 minutes before our tee time. I let him check in and he came back with a golf cart. It's $45/golfer after 2pm (twilight) on weekends. Otherwise, it's $55/golfer. We pulled up to the back of the clubhouse to enter the Champions Grille. We each ordered a sandwich that came with chips for $9 each as well as some cold drinks. He ordered a tuna salad sandwich and I the chicken salad sandwich. I thought $9 was a bit pricey, but the sandwiches were big and tasty. They were enough fuel for 9 holes. The bar staff was pleasant. The course is beautiful. I asked the SO what he thought of the condition and he said it's in good shape considering the transition from winter to spring. It looks well maintained from this non-golfer's point of view *points thumb at self.* He also said it played nicely, but was moderately challenging. The ball washers and trash cans at every hole were convenient. Each hole was sponsored and sponsor's name was clearly displayed. We got the vibe that Skybrook values community. They were also hosting a community event when we arrived. The SO was very pleased with the entire experience and will definitely be returning. We now aspire to live by the 18th hole! read more

This place was a great escape and beautiful might I add. It was so peaceful and relaxing. A few people were on the course, I enjoyed the bar and food services. The drinks were delicious and so was the food. Our attendant was great and attended to our needs. We had the entire outside lounge area to ourselves. I could come here everyday and enjoy the scenery. A great place to clear your head. I'm not much of a golf player, but if you are here's your place. read more

Great course, challenging, greens were smooth, club house was clean and carts were clean.

Golf courses is in great she really enjoyed playing the course it was very challenging.

Unfortunately they close at 6:00 from March to October so playing this course after work is not an option. Fun course, ok shape, but I have never seen a course not allow golf with 2.5 hours of daylight left. Yelp says they close at 7, but that is not correct. I used to live in the neighborhood but have since moved out. There never was a problem playing after work before. If you can make it before 6 and are looking to just have fun and don't need the course in great shape this is a good spot to play. Currently they have lost some fairways and traps, but it is still playable. Hope they get it all back! Thanks read more

Horrible golfer... on a great course. I've played about five or six different Charlotte courses now and this is definitely my favorite. The course is well kept and the staff is fantastic. The course is long and i love the greens! Excellent condition! Now if I can only improve MY game! read more

First time playing here while I was visiting family from LA. Course was in nice condition and weather was also good too. Layout has a scenic view but the undulations are killer. Greens were punched in April, so note to self to come after they cured because it was like putting on cauliflower. Not much of a clubhouse to hang out after our round, but at least the breakfast sandwich was good enough for on the go. read more

A gem in the Charlotte area golf courses. Challenging and fun holes. Impeccably manicured greens. Well maintained fairways and sand traps with attention to drainage. The club house staff are friendly with quality bar and food. If I could give it ) stars I would. read more

Played Skybrook Golf course with several friends Monday and course is in good shape compared to other public courses in the county. Starter warned us of three fairways that had bad spots caused by recent rains but rest of course was okay. Greens were in excellent condition. Bad spots in fairways should green up in a few weeks. By the way, the layout of the course with all the hills and valleys made the course feel long and very challenging. All of the staff was pleasant and helpful. We paid senior mid week rates of $32.00 ... very reasonable. read more

Skybrook plays very nice. The greens and tee boxes are great! I really can't wait until spring for all of the color and improvements to come together. I absolutely enjoy playing here, and would recommend this course to anyone I play with! I enjoy seeing the beautiful layout of homes along the course. read more

Played the course on Saturday morning and I never plan on playing this course again. The greens are in horrible shape and had just been aerated. They never bothered to tell us when making reservations or when we showed up. There was a backhoe just off the green on the front nine (4 or 5 if I remember correctly). There were several places where there were huge washouts that weren't even marked, including in front of at least one green on the back 9. At least one bunker was also under construction, with exposed wood guidelines making it impossible to play out of it. Even the cart path is in horrible condition. They shouldn't be charging full price with the course in this shape. The pace of play was also horrendously slow and nothing was done to speed things up. read more

Played at Skybrook a few weeks back while traveling for work in the Charlotte area so I had to use the Callaway rental clubs, which were really convenient and in good condition. The course had more character than I was expecting, lots of elevation changes and good layout with challenging holes. I was really impressed with the greens and overall, the condition of the course was really good. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Charlotte. read more

The course is in great shape given the wet winter. Nice people on staff. I enjoyed the layout and recommend the course to play.

The course looks great. At a time of year when other courses are either aerating or their greens have been lost totally, Skybrook's greens are in good shape. The course overall is looking good. The fairways are cut to the right length. The rough is fairly long. But, not too sure why the rough is deep right up against the greens. This could be changed. The clubhouse is clean and the bar/food area is comfortable. The wait staff is very accommodating. read more

I'm giving a 4 star only. I was happy with the layout of the course but the greens definitely need some attention. With having that great housing community with the golf course you would think everything would be top notch. I really do have to say that this course has tons of potential and I would love to see it get there! I'm happy with the way the course is later out! read more

Just played this course on Labor Day. It is in the worst shape ever! There is NO sand in the bunkers and are unplayable. The course is covered with crabgrass and weeds everywhere. Most of the greens have bare spots and are very bumpy. The worst part was the rough. Not only was it littered with weeds, but it was so deep we lost many balls just off the fairway. This course used to be one of the best in the Charlotte area but now has fallen on some very bad times. I would avoid until they get a new owner who can bring it back to its former glory. read more

This course needs alot of work. Not sure what greens the post from August 2013 were playing. This course does have great elevation changes and I like the course. I wrote a review 4 months ago and this course has deteriorated since then big time. Pace of play still slow but that is the type of golfer playing the course. Crabgrass everywhere! The course is under receivership and wants more money from members to continue to play. I think you show a business plan before you raise the fee for members. read more

Nice experience, met at the car and asked if we wanted our bags taken. Nice clubhouse. Course is indeed a good challenge and beautiful. With the right maintenance and conditioning it would and or could be as challenging as they wanted plenty of well designed greens to test even the best with well placed pins. Bunkers are a mess and some completely full of water, we played free relief. Which is fine but would get old. Greens were nice for the most part, a few dead spots or bad repair maybe. (Fix it right or don't fix it ppl!but you should just learn how to do it correctly please)The rough is challenging keep an eye on your ball we lost a couple and we watched them land still couldn't find it. Overall good experience, nice course. If the bunkers were in good condition and maybe trim or two here with a lawn mower in some spots and it's a 4 star course for sure maybe 5 ! Really enjoyed playing this course. Fairways and greens were in great shape and the course is lined with some beautiful homes. My only complaint is that play was EXTREMELY slow. We skipped over two groups and found that no one was ahead of them! The starter really needs to have someone driving around ensuring everyone is playing at pace. read more

Yuk! Absolutely by far the worse golf course I have ever played. They should be ashamed of themselves charging to play this course. If they offered me a free round, I would throw it away. The rough was up to your shins. The fairways were destroyed from the mowers leaving huge tracks. The tee boxes were so high, even the tallest tee was useless. The range has been closed for months due to inclement weather, huh. Yes the range closed due to inclement weather. Whoever designed this course should never be allowed to even step foot on another course. Ever since they joined the Carolina trail, this course has sunk faster than the titanic. I had a range membership and had to cancel it after only two months because I was never allowed to use it due to inclement weather. I heard they were cart path only for two months. I understand we have had a lot of rain. But also understand all the other courses have as we'll and they are nowhere near this shape. Again, I will rank this one as the worse course I have ever played and I have been on some bad ones. If you decide to play it, bring a lot of patience and a lot of golf balls. read more
