Played this course with a group of 8 on 2/26/24. February golf in these parts can be a roll of the dice. We came up with a winning roll on a Monday with 71 degrees and sunny! This course is #3 on the B-Man's guide to the top 10 Charlotte area golf courses. It's a good course but a #3 seems overrated to me. Understanding it's February so granted, not ideal conditions. Still a problem when you have more than half an entire green surface under repair. You get only one Par 3 on the front and two on the back. The fairways are wide open and forgiving. The tee boxes all in good repair. You get the computerized electric golf carts. The check-in and Staff was smooth and everyone was nice. The bar/restaurant experience was good. As a Senior golfer, you get considerable tee advantage on most all of the holes. There is water but it doesn't come into play. They had patrolling Ranger maintaining pace of play. It is literally right adjacent to the Speedway. On several holes, you can see the Grandstands. I think you want to avoid this place on race day. read more

A really nice course at a very surprising location. Wedged in between the Charlotte raceway and the drag strips. This public course played with a strong longer fri t nine and the back nine was spotted with some Interesting doglegs and short par fours. Only other gripe I had was that some of the tee boxes were pretty beaten up. Not surprising since this was a public course. But all in all a very enjoyable round. read more

Challenging layout with excellent greens for putting. Well appointed pro shop, nicely merchandised with competitive prices.. Electric carts with built in GPS are a big plus - you can even listen to hip-hop, Mozart, or cool jazz using the Bluetooth option (Wha?!). Large rocks come into play on several holes, particularly #3. On the downside, this course is carved out of lowland woods so your ball is easily lost just a few few feet off the fairway (but you can usually find someone else's ball!). Some holes are cart path only due to soft fairways, negating the cool GPS carts. Grill room is okay, although during slow season the menu is very limited. Probably would be better if more golfers (and non-golfers) stayed for sandwiches. All-in-all, a very good golf experience - one of my favorites in the Charlotte area. I highly recommend this course and please stay for lunch and a draft beer. read more

This is a really fun course to play. A lot of really beautiful holes. Incredibly well maintained, and the greens are immaculate. Was in from out of town and had an absolute blast. Staff was super friendly, pace of play was great. I would highly recommend playing here if you are in the Charlotte area. read more

This is a nice course in Concord right by the Charlotte Motor Speedway. I believe UNC Charlotte's golf team uses this course as well as the Korn Ferry Tour on occasion. It's a little bit on the pricier side for my friends and I, but if you're able to play on a weekday afternoon, you can definitely get a good price. I've been here multiple times and the greens are always in great shape and running pretty quick. The carts are the nicest I've used because they have a screen in them with several different features such as showing distance from the hole and the ability to order food from the clubhouse. They're electric so just be sure not to drive in restricted areas or else you'll get stuck! Overall, this is definitely one of the better public courses in Charlotte, but probably nothing special for serious golfers. read more

We played in early March and the course was mostly brown. Greens were surprisingly good. They strictly enforce the no beer in personal coolers So they can sell you a 6 pack for $24. Hide the beer in your bags until you reach the #3 T. read more

Five star course at a three star price. I absolutely love Rocky River golf club. The greens are always in immaculate condition even in the winter. One of the best and such an important feature that is not available at a lot of other golf courses is that they have navigation on the cart, and it doesn't just give you the yardage to the center of the green, it gives you exact yardage to the pin, the front and the back of the green. The course is challenging but definitely gives you an opportunity to score as well. If I have to nitpick, I will say that after a few days of rain the course can be very wet. I have noticed that is the case with a lot of other courses in the area as well but I do think the rain may hurt this course a little bit more. The facilities are great as well with a nice driving range and a great practice green. Since I have moved to Charlotte I have probably played approximately 35 rounds of golf, and about 25 of them have been at Rocky River. I kept coming back because of the value and how great the course is, but I definitely have to say I was always made to feel special when I would show up here. After my second time I would be welcomed with hello Sami how are you today? I definitely have to give credit to Joey and Christian, as those two gentlemen have been great to me since day one. If you have never played here I recommend you making it the next course you play. read more

Apologies for low rating, but it had to be done. Currently, the course is unplayable. Temporary greens on full 18 holes until Mid-August of 2012. For those unfamiliar with temporary greens, allow me to explain: At the end of the fairway before it ends as it is approaching the green, the fairway grass is cut a little bit lower in a circular shape to represent the green. The temporary hole is approximately twice as big. The temporary greens' grass is not tended to and will result in uneven slope throughout. The loss of yardage for the entire course must be near 720yds--avg was about 20, but one hole was shortened 76 yds. Temporary green play really takes away from this course leaving much to be desired. Despite scoring the best I've ever had in 18 holes, it was not fun. Felt like a simulated golf course that one can mimick on the driving range... "Hit the driver straight. Okay, now pretend hitting 160 yards out. Okay, you're about 10 yds from the green, hit a wedge. That was a fun driving range drill... Oh you mean, that's pretty much what playing on temporary greens is like? Ugh... On top of that, one of their rakebacks (golfnow.com, ezlinks.com, etc.) had the rate at $35.00/player on Saturday morning. It was not worth it. Maybe my fault for playing here when they had temporary greens, oh well. dmo out. read more

Course conditions and playability make this course 1a or 1b on my list of best in Charlotte. But watch out guys (1a & 1b) there is another track making a big jump fr last year. I always appreciate the ladies and gents in the pro shop--always a help and always willing to take a second to make u feel welcome. They also offer demo clubs and I believe rentals(callaway 2018). This is the place to play although Charlotte is wrapping up w a few nice spots to play...you will love this one. read more

Beautiful course. Very well kept. Terrible management from my experience. Getting on to back 9 they put someone starting at the back 9 in front of 2 groups of 4. Could not finish the round because the 2nd group of 4 ahead of us were also hitting 2 balls and taking 15 minutes a hole. Passed 5 groups as leaving still playing 17 and 18. They let a group of 6 ahead of everyone with 4 golf carts riding all over the fairway. You would think with GPS you would have someone looking and questioning why there are 15 people on 2 holes and go out there and see whats happening. Great course tho read more

Solid course with a challenging layout - appropriate for low- to mid- handicappers. High handicappers will struggle with the terrain and the trouble areas. Played the men's green tees and had all the course I could stand. Greens and fairways were in very good shape when we played on 10/10/16. Course is great! Pace of play is great! Range is great! Most of the staff is great! The only exception is one Mr. John Ragsdale. Every time I have encountered this gentleman he has been arrogant, short, rude and disrespectful not only to myself but other patrons as well. For a course that is values itself and the patrons that keep you in business do yourself a favor and move this gentleman somewhere he doesn't have to interact with the public. read more

Played today with my wife and usual golfing buddies. Had a flat tire on 16 and we called the clubhouse to get a cart. I was told they would try to get one out. After 15 minutes I called again and the person told me they would send someone out. I told him we had called 15 minutes earlier they told me the same thing. The gentleman on the phone told me "If you are tired of waiting, you can walk". That smart assed comment might be expected from a cart boy or clerk but come to find out the person I spoke with was Ryan, the golf director. I guess customer service is not a requirement for PGA certification. Certainly not what we expected. No matter how nice the course might be, it only takes one person to put a damper on the round Thanks Ryan. read more

Really enjoyed the course. Decent rates at $35 on a weekend w/ bucket of balls. The carolina dogs at the grille were A-Mazing (and just what the dr. ordered at the turn after 9 holes of adult beverages!) The only knock I can give it was echoing what others have mentioned in their reviews - the customer service - a shame because it really is a nice course w/ great food. They should fire the cart guy/starter. The guy's attitude is awful. Obviously bitter about being a 40+ year old cart boy, he's more than happy to lecture players about arriving 2 minutes late for a start time and put a group of 2 behind 4 just to be an a** (despite the group of 4's tee time being 8 minutes later. More than enough time for a group of 2 to complete the entire hole! While I can admit to being partially responsible for driving up a few seconds late to our designated tee time, the starter's attitude both before when we picked up our cart and when we dropped our cart off were both nothing short of rude - acting like we were burdening him. Sad, because it's a fun and open course. Aside from the occasional race car testing, it's quiet and beautiful countryside. Unfortunately, this one employee tarnished the entire experience. If I were mgmt, I'd seriously consider a replacement. read more

Rocky river has really stepped their game since installing the new bermuda greens last year. The course has a couple tough holes ( par 3 5th?) and everything is maintained great. The greens are seriously like putting on carpet and since they punched them finally have softened up. If I can get a good deal here I will golf it whenever I can. I've played this course a few times and it does not disappoint. Challenging yet fair, great layout, greens usually in really good shape. My only recommendation is that you avoid it after rainfall, as it can get pretty wet in the low points of a lot of holes. Other than that, this may be the best course within a 30 min drive of uptown Charlotte. read more

Once again you guys are wrong. There were 2 golfers and 2 riders. The guy up front (ragsdale) said that we sometimes charge and we sometimes don't. (Also ragsdale is a very mean person, not a people person at all. Also not very smart) Now, let's say that I came in with my rider and paid for my cart and went on to hole one. The next man came in with his rider and paid and went to the first hole. We would have paid the rate that cost us to play 18 without any charges! But since we came In Together we were charged extra for a cart that we would have needed either way if we would have came in separately or together. Get the picture? read more
