A friend recommended this place and I'd go back. I know car dealerships are hard to review because of the nature of the purchase. For example, I love my Impreza I bought here but I do have an issue with the lights on the dash always coming on even when they shouldn't (ex- the week after a normal oil change). Did they know about this? Did they not? We will never know. In general, I really liked working with them. They were kind and did not pester. We felt comfortable trying out as many cars as we wanted. The girl worker was super kind but the guy worker was a bit cocky. Luckily I worked with the female and she was a delight and super helpful. Efficient service to get in and out. You can check their selection online but it's not always updated. Best option is to call or stop by. They are super helpful if you have questions or problems. I stopped in here to test drive an older Subaru. I was suspicious of used car dealers due to some bad experiences, but Travis was very friendly, helpful and easy going which put my feelings at ease. I ended up not buying a car here, as that particular car was not for me and it was the only one they had in my (low) price point. Later on after I had purchased a different car I had a complication with the registration because I had purchased it from an individual. I was unable to resolve this on my own due to being new here, unfamiliar with the state laws of acquiring a car, and not knowing many people here who could help. Out of desperation, I called Travis. He was just as friendly as before and very patient and generous with his time in helping me - with a car that I bought elsewhere. Wow. Ultimately it was the only reason I didn't have to wait a full MONTH to drive my newly acquired car. The woman at the front desk there was also very sweet and friendly, though I didn't get her name. This has broken my bias against used car dealers. I was so impressed and truly inspired by their kindness and helpfulness - it brings to mind the best kind of "old-fashioned" sense of business and community which is so beautiful and refreshing. Skye Autohaus is a great place to buy a used car, if you know what you're looking for. I bought a used Acura MDX from here almost a year ago, and I couldn't be happier with it. I love my car so much. I spent about a month working with the two gentlemen that are the front line of this team. Although I did not end up buying a car here, my experience was one that made me feel compelled to write them a positive review so people in the area know that before they go heading down to Asheville to buy a car, they should at least stop by the Autohaus first. Rob the owner is extremely knowledgable about the used car business and passionate about helping you find the right car for you. So much so that he will go out of his way to layout various low cost options that will help you customize your car ( maybe you prefer leather or power seats, etc, etc) after your purchase. He can be a little pushy at times, but if you stand your ground and affirm that you are confident in your timeline/ the way you shop for cars he will listen to you with respect and attentiveness. He's one of those people who will tell you like it is and I think appreciates those who are able to do the same. Travis is the person I dealt with most in looking for/ trying out various cars. I'm pretty sure I stopped by there at least 6 times and each time I was always greeted with a smile and whether there was a car there for me or not I alway enjoyed my time talking with him. Definitely the type of person you want helping you with a major purchase. Where this business shines is that they do the very best to bring you top used cars and very reasonable prices. We were dead set on getting a late model Subura Outback and this place had a great inventory, 9 cars between 2013 and 2017. We showed up on the lot and expected the usual glad handing lot lizard to come flying out of the office. It didn't happen. After about 20 minutes of looking at various cars, Travis came out, politely introduced himself, told us to let him know if we had any questions, and walked back inside. Refreshing. And the rest of the experience was like that. No hard sell, no push into any particular car. Just courteous answers to our questions and a fair deal. Ed sold us a 2008 Tribeca with a new engine. It was not a new engine. It wasn't even a good engine (we found out shortly after the 3 month warranty expired). We overpaid, we didn't get an independent inspection & we didn't buy the extended warranty ~~our mistakes. Ed lied. So our biggest mistake was to trust Ed. I recommend Prestige in Asheville. I only gave 2 stars because of Kristen. She is extremely sweet and made me a Subaru girl for life! I initially came to the lot to test drive a Honda Pilot. She talked me into just test driving a 2016 Subaru Forester. Within a quarter mile I was in love. I said I'd return the next day to purchase the car and it was sold right out from underneath me. I was ok with this, as they had several 2016 Foresters in the lot. I got a different color than I wanted, but was in love with Subaru now so I went ahead with purchasing one. I also purchased the warranty. I thought (I had purchased the highest warranty, turns out I didn't) The next day though I dealt with Travis, as Kristen was off. He kept questioning if I chose afford the car, which seriously annoyed me. I own a business as well as having a second job. My income is quite high, so why this question was asked, is beyond me. I carry myself pretty well, so I was alittle offended. Upon test driving another Forester I heard a noise coming from the rear end of the car. A loud, roaring noise. Travis assured me after I made him eat drive the car that it was the tires. I believed this as tires can make that sound. 2 months later, the noise is getting worse and decide to take my car to their "trusted mechanics" and when reaching out to one particular mechanic, he was extremely rude. So instead, I took it to Subaru dealership. Turns out an axle was bad and so was the right rear hub bearing!!!! Also turns out the bearing was not covered under the warranty! He ended up sliding the lowest warranty in on me when I requested the platinum! I STRONGLY DISCOURAGE anyone from purchasing from these crooks! read more

I purchased a jeep from them without even having it examined by someone. So help me I have had nothing but problems with this car from the 1st day I brought it home. First it was the engine, it had to be fixed twice. Then when it died on the highway, I found the alternator coil was tangled and splintered, burning out the battery. The car window on driver side doesn't work. It won't go up or down. Next the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree, there was a hole under the hood that let moisture in. My son in law plugged it up. Surely they had to know about that. Next a tire fuse gage needed replacing, it stays on. From my perspective, they don't give a damn if it runs or not. If you are stupid enough to trust them, oh well...your own fault! I will never, ever deal with them again, and if someone asks for a referral for a good car, I make sure they understand what kind of people they will be dealing with here. My experience with Skye Autohaus was disappointing at best. I purchased a used car and a week later smelled oil burning. I phoned the sales person and was told it was oil burning off the engine from the oil change, I know that could happen. A month later the oil smell was still there so I took the car to another mechanic who stated the head gasket was leaking and had been for some time. Prior to purchasing the car I requested the "100 point" inspection and what I got was the car fax, now I know why. I believe the company knew and withheld that information. After the cost of the car a month later I had to put almos $800 in to replace the head gasket....the oil smell is still there. read more

Before I relate my experience, you might want to know that we found this place by shopping through the USAA website. (Anyone who is in the military, or knows someone who is, might be familiar with USAA.) Anyway, we figured, since Skye was on their website, it must be okay. I mean, why would USAA finance a vehicle from a questionable car lot? By the way, that's exactly what this place is; a couple of guys in a small house on a used car lot. It's not a dealership. I guess I had expected more from USAA. Now to main event: My wife and I drove roughly 100 miles to look at a particular vehicle these guys had for sale. I was assured that their vehicles undergo a rigorous, 100 point inspection before they are bid on at auction, and was invited to take our choice for a spin. We looked it over, then headed out (without the guy). Immediately upon accelerating to pull out of their drive, there was a horrendous clanking noise coming from the rear end. Holy $#*%! It sounded like someone tossed a kitchen pot under there. Really loud. Impossible to miss by anyone but the deaf, let alone a qualified mechanic. We took it a bit farther down the road and, every time we got on the gas, we heard that bouncing pot again. We hadn't gone far when we decided to pull over to talk and then head back. As we sat there, laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation, the in-dash display brought up an error code about something. Almost unbelievable. When we arrived back at Skye, the guy asked what we thought. I told him we'd have to pass. He asked if we wanted to look at another. We answered "no," while thinking inside, "Are you kidding?" In our opinion, he was dishonest about the inspection, which purportedly applied to every other car on their lot. We're just grateful that this particular vehicle's flaws were so obvious. For the record, during the preceding decade, we drove an older version of this same model. We know what "normal" sounds like, and this wasn't it. read more
