I'm so sad that I cannot give more stars to Skyline at Waterplace. Their venue is in such an INCREDIBLE location, in the heart of downtown Providence right on the river. They have a huge balcony that overlooks the river and a ground level patio that walks right out to the river boardwalk. We were able to enjoy Providence's Water Fire with private, front row seats. It was a priceless experience Despite all of that, the interior spaces are very, very small and oddly shaped, making it very hard to move during an event. It also makes it very difficult for the staff to maneuver in between tables, causing a major traffic jam when it comes to meal time. I'm not sure what happened when we were there, but there were MAJOR delays and mix ups during our event. So much so that the wait staff actually forgot to serve our entire table. By the time the realized this, they served us ice cold food that was over cooked, over salted, and actually inedible. The hosts of our event tried to correct it by offering to comp our table a round of drinks. But at that point we were all so disappointed and turned off by the entire experience that we all decided to leave two hours before the end of the event. Skyline at Waterplace has the potential to be incredible. But until they make some major changes, it's not a place I can recommend. read more

It's a weird space, kind of like your weird Greek party uncle decorated it. The appetizers are surprisingly good but the entrees were lackluster across the board. The view is a view you can see without eating here. Overall it's a solid meh. But then the service was poor. Our server was very friendly but disappeared chatting with a nearby table for long soars of time. We could see her, but we couldn't get her attention so waters stayed unfilled and such. And when we asked for separate checks with was a TRAGEDY. Huge deal about how they don't do it and the can't do it but they'll do it this time and then here's some guilt with your checks. The manager came over and shamed us for our wanting to use separate forms of payment too. Separate checks stopped being a big deal in the 90s. In the 90s there was easy to use POS tech to do separate checks. And then they added gratuity (without telling us or noting it anywhere) so the bit about how people don't right with separate checks was uncalled for. There is zero chance I'll ever go back here. But. Again. The appetizers were good. read more

This is a nice venue located at Waterplace Park. Our event was catered by Russell Morin, who does an excellent job with the food and the service. The event was for 100 people and the seating and logistics were excellent. Large tables of 8-10, smaller tables of 4-5 gave the room a nice mix of seating options. We had the ribs, salmon and eggplant parmigiana with salad, fall vegetables and rice. Good food. The views are also nice toward the basin and the downtown skyline. read more

Let me start off by saying, what a great experience! My friend and I went for restaurant week and I was so impressed. Instead of doing a specific menu, the whole menu was up for grabs. I got to try some of there best dishes and super excited to come back. Our waitress (5/5) was super attentive, coming to check on us throughout the meal and bringing everything in a timely manner. As for the food, everything was delicious but I have had better. Appetizers: Calamari and crab cakes...4/5 The calamari was good and the portion was huge. The crab cakes we're good but I felt like the crab was smothered out by whatever else was in the cake. It came with this strawberry quinoa salad that added a nice freshness but I didn't really get why it went with the dish. It seemed out of place. Entrees: Gnocchi and lobster ravioli The gnocchi was good but I felt like like it was kind of gummy however the flavors were all there. The lobster ravioli want my favorite. It needed something to round it out with something fresh and light Dessert: Cheesecake with candied pecans and butterscotch This was by far my favorite part of the meal! It was such a light and fluffy cheesecake and the pecans added a nice crunch All in all, I definitely want to come back to try out another dish probably when waterfire is happening. The promotion sounded great! A rooftop clambake during Water Fire! Sadly is was embarrassing..... I didn't want to deal with the crowds, traffic and wanted to have nice dinner before. I insisted we go to Skyline. Dinner reservation was 6:30. It was NOT a rooftop. It was a patio covered with rent and long tables. There was no chance of watching or seeing Dr there at all. The Calypso music was great idea but too loud. Was not able sto have a conversation at the table. Lucky for us it wasn't too busy. We got our drink and salad right away. Followed by chowder and dinner. Surprisingly everything was in paper plate and styrofoam cups. Including the steak dinner. Yes steak on paper plate? Not a very sturdy one either. Unfortunately one of my guests got a piece of the plate stuck in her teeth. We were never asked if we wanted another drink and were done eating by 7:05. It was colder than expected and we were excited to just get desert and go to buy sweatshirts. By 7:20 I tracked down a gentleman who seemed to be a manager and asked that our dirty plates be removed and desert. The canoli appeared but wished I didn't try it. The pastry was very hard and definitely was not home made. 7:42 ready to call it a night and asked for the check. 8:10 I tracked down the manager looking gentleman again this time asking for the check. 8:12 finally ..... Certainly an unexpected dining experience. Bright colors, and a blue tinted light illuminates the entire room. The chairs are huge and comfortable. But if you go before, say, 8 or 9pm, you might be the only diners there. I can't hold that against the restaurant, it was just a surprise. My partner and I shared a paella for two. The waiter (who was a delight) said there was enough food for four, and I'm bound to agree. There was just so much food. That being said, the rice-to-seafood ratio was 4 to 1. Seems like way too much rice for not enough seafood. Even so, the whole plate was delicious, and a satisfying balance or sweetness from the seafood and spiciness from the chorizo and rice. Went back to celebrate my graduation last night and what a horrible experience. I'm giving them 2 stars off the strength of my first experience. I am completely embarrassed that I invited my friends and family out to endure such a horrible experience. For an up scale downtown restaurant the staff should be highly experience, our waitress was not. She was completely overwhelmed, inexperienced, inattentive and it showed. Had a reservation for 7pm did get to sit until 740, order apps for sharing didn't bring out plates for the apps, our entrees took an hour and a half to get to our table by this time it was almost 10pm! Bathroom was a mess and overheard other customers complaining. These are only a few of the things that went wrong last night. I really want to love this place; the food is great, the establishment is beautiful, with a prime location. It's truly somewhere that I raved about and couldn't wait to return. I hope the owners read this review and take the steps needed to ensure that NO ONE ever has an experience like the one we had last night. read more

Lovely spot overlooking the basin at WaterPlace Park (we were on the outdoor patio). Attentive service. Good food. We went for Providence Restaurant Weeks and had the Calamari Siciliana, Chicken Francese, and Chicken Parmigiano, followed with portions of Tres Leches and Red Velvet cakes. We see a lot of bad reviews for private catered events that took place here, but our experience with their in-house dining service was the opposite. We'd recommend Skyline for a nice dinner out. read more

Skyline is simply amazing! I hosted a Charity Date Auction event here and cannot even begin to explain how in awe I am of how successful the night was! The entire night was so amazing. Every. Single. Thing. From the venue being as gorgeous as it is, the delicious food, the attention to detail and just the overall vibe--there has been nothing but praise from everyone I have talked to as well about everything. Scott is so talented with his event planning and coordination of every little detail- his personality and connection with his clients is an added bonus! He outdid himself. This place is beautiful inside, it would be perfect for a date night. My friend and I went for Restaurant week but honestly the prices on that menu are pretty reasonable. The food was incredible. I ordered the crab cakes to start, very well made. Not overly done, nice size and the sauce was really good. My friend had the Caesar salad to start, can't go wrong there but she loved it. We both ordered the stuffed raviolis with shrimp. They shrimp were huge, the ravioli sauce seasoned perfectly with a nice thick texture. The raviolis were fab. Tonight we held my son's graduation party here and it was absolutely perfect. Jodi the owner is so helpful and a pleasure to work with. We did a pasta station for dinner which was phenomenal. After we also had a sliders, chicken fingers and fried station for 2nd dinner incase the 1st wasn't enough. The bartender and all the staff helping serve we so sweet and wonderful. We chose the 1st floor level because you can walk right out onto the patio and sit to chill and see the stunning view. All in all tonight was amazing and I highly recommend Skyline for your next party or event. read more

This place is a bit confusing. They host weddings and other functions, but on nights when they do not have anything going on they're open for dinner service. The blue uplighting was a bit odd and somewhat distracting. The live music was entertaining, but seemed to be a wedding singer promoting himself. I think the decor was going for elegance but instead looked gaudy. We were unimpressed from the moment we sat down. Our server was young and meant well, I'm sure, but she was not knowledgeable about the menu and did nothing to fix any of the mistakes that came up throughout the night. She told me that they were out of Kettle One, and then later said they don't even carry it. She told me the vegetable of the day was asparagus but my meal was served with broccoli. We order three apps for the table but only two came out. She assured us that we would not be charged for the third, but indeed, all three appeared on our bill. She brought out a appetizer salad about 3 minutes before our entrees were served, rather than giving appropriate wait time. It took over ten minutes to get a round of drinks. This was all very confusing/unacceptable to us, as the restaurant was only occupied by a few other tables. Eventually a manager came over and comped us one round of drinks, but at that point we let him know that we would not be returning in the future. I will give props to the valet. It was free, the attendant was friendly, and they use an app that allows you to call for your car when ready. With so many great spots in Providence, I would skip this one and go somewhere where you will feel that your business is valued. read more

Had the pleasure of being invited to Skyline at Waterplace for their "Dining with Skyline" event celebrating their new restaurant menu. First of all, the ambiance in this venue is beyond gorgeous and the menu based on what we tasted this evening is filled with variety and quality. Stations were set up and tastes of antipasto, seafood, poultry and meats, and pasta along with delicious hors d'oeuvres certainly would make any special event joyful to the taste buds and heavenly to one's spirits. If this evening's sampling was just a sampling, this venue should and will be booked by many and the restaurant should be teeming with diners. read more

Came here for brunch with a group after Providence Pride. We had a table all set up outside on the patio. The service was very attentive to us and the needs to the tables around us on the patio. The mimosas were perfect, the chicken waffles were so delicious and flavorful, although they could have gone a little lighter on the ricotta, but that's just a personal preference. Our server Doug was even kind enough to grill a small piece of ham for our dog Penny. The bathroom was a combination of being in a Mariah Carey song and a space station. Overall it was a fantastic experience and hopefully we can visit again before the end of the summer. read more

Loved my experience here! Visited for restaurant week one week night with my boyfriend. We couldn't get a reservation as we decided to go last minute but we sat at the bar super easily and got really great service. I don't normally like to sit at the bar to eat a full meal but I actually enjoyed it here. I love the atmosphere and the blue lighting, it made me feel like I was transported to somewhere really special. All of the details in the restaurant like the large white chair seating and hanging lights are so different. I had the zuppa vongole to start which is little necks in a champagne sauce - so tasty! The calamari Lola was so good too in an Asian chili sauce. I had the salmon for the main course and my boyfriend had the sirloin. Both delicious - id go back and get to get both of these dishes again. The chocolate mousse martini was easily my favorite part of the meal. I'm not much of a dessert person after a meal but this was light and the perfect ending. The staff was so nice, and the owner was walking around asking if we were satisfied with everything the entire time. They have valet but we parked on a nearby street and it was an easy walk! Wow what a restaurant. The entrance to skyline is right outside the Providence place mall, whereby you take an elevator down to the second floor into the establishment. The ride down feels like your going into some type of military silo. The lights are a cool blue hue and the windows overlook the water. The inside decor is absolutely gorgeous and high end. The plush white seating is also notable. Highlight for me was the skyline Schroeder, without a doubt the tastiest piece of fish I've ever had in my life. This is a GREAT place to impress a lady. Skyline has a cool vibe for a drink or dinner. Two floors equipped with blue lighting, marble bars, and retro music with videos. Finally, a place that has the balls to play music during dinner although not loud enough to drown out the voices at the next table. The service was excellent especially at the bar and the menu has some creative pasta and apps. Overall, a cool place to stop by and get a drink or dinner. Mr. High End says give this place a look, You get what you pay for. Warning from Mr. High End: The valet is an independent contractor from the restaurant and tries to charge you to park. PARKING IS FREE and these scammers ask if you have reservations as a front to charge customers. Just say yes and they don't target you. Or say No I don't have reservations but I know your scam!!!! Skyline better get a handle on these crooks or they will lose customers by the dozens. To be clear, we came for dinner not an event and the Valet was explicitly told we were there for Dinner and PURPOSELY tried to rip us off. read more

I had my event there and it was terribly organized. The day of my event they set up the wrong room, napkins and wrong number of tables were set up. The person we worked with wasn't there and they booked the room I was supposed to have to someone else. I wouldn't recommend this venue for your event and if you do go with it make sure you see the set up the night before so there are no surprises. read more

Most disappointing meal at the Rat Pack Show with Tom Jones. Hope it wasn't your best effort. It shouldn't take nearly 3 hours to serve the meal. The salad best described as "leftovers", the pasta over cooked, the chicken pretty sad - chicken wings and drum sticks served; better chicken at Popeyes and more of it. The dessert boxed best from Ocean State Job Lot. And no coffee served. Left hungry with thoughts of Taco Bell. If anyone is looking for a party or wedding venue, sure to disappoint. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. We came here before heading to a show at PPAC and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Wonderful views of the city, clean and hip decor, amazing and attentive staff (We really felt like part of the family). Our server, Kevin, was so kind to us and really made us feel welcome. The gnocchi with sausage was insanely good, and the sauce on the meatball appetizer is some of the best I've ever had. I picked up whatever I could to scoop up a little more. Went to Dine With Skyline last night for my birthday. Wanted to try a place I never have before. The food was phenomenal but the wait time killed any chance for this getting five stars. The decor was chic, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff members were friendly. They had a wide variety of 80s and 90s music playing and a large screen to watch the original video. Fun listening to some classics I haven't heard in years! Since it was restaurant week, ordered app, entree and dessert. Apps were meatballs and caesar salad. Entrees were fusilli pasta and fettuccine alfredo. Desserts were lava cake and chocolate mousse. By far some of the tastiest eats I've had in a long time. The food was bursting with flavor and very fresh. Only had two issues, one minor and one major. After we got our drinks, we both ordered our app, entree, and dessert. The waitress came back an hour later with my app and entree. Had to explain that we ordered the salad and meatballs to start. She ended up taking my pasta back to the kitchen. We split the salad and waited a long time for the meatballs to come out. She wrote everything down, so not sure where the mix up was. The biggest gripe of the night was timing. We got there a few minutes after six and took over 2-1/2 HOURS from start to finish. It's not a huge restuarant and they were not at max capacity so I'm not sure why it took so long. Maybe one person in the kitchen? Who knows. I would love to go back since the food was so great but I can't see taking 2-3 hours each time. read more

I attended the NYE event a few days ago and everything was great until about 1230AM. First of all, the party was supposed to go until 2AM, but something caused the fire alarms to go off and everyone was told to evacuate the building. At this point it was a mad rush with everyone trying to get their jackets from coat check and it apparently became too much for the workers to deal with. Coat racks were rolled into the middle of the dance floor and it was an absolute free for all. As could be expected, many coats were taken quickly and I was left without my $300 down jacket. As the coat check girls tried to "search" for my coat which had clearly already left the building, they repeatedly tried to hand me a coat which matched the description of my coat, but was clearly not as it was not my chapstick, nor my gloves in the pocket of the jacket they were handing me. As flustered as they were, they were very relieved when they learned it was just my coat that was missing, rather than something that could actually prevent frostbite in the -2 degree weather, like my phone (which they were very worried about for absolutely no reason). Thankfully enough, the Director of Sales, Scott Connery was able to diffuse the situation by explaining how "I can't make your coat reappear tonight" and pointing out that I could simply borrow my friends suit jacket to keep me warm on the ride home. How could I have been so silly and forgotten that borrowing a suit coat would make up for my winter coat (which I'll still need the rest of this winter) going missing. Maybe I should ask my friend if I can borrow his jacket for all of January. Luckily enough I was able to get Scott Connery's card so I could send plenty of emails and phone calls that will never be returned. read more

Had a groupon for this place. Valet parking was super nice and easyish to use, service was nice but the food took forever to come out. There was maybe 20 people in total in the restaurant and the food took an hour to come out. Had to wait about 20 minutes for a gelato. But when the food got to us it was very good! Skyline is beautifully decorated; a wonderful place to take a date. As an Interior Designer I am picky about design but this place blew me away. The food was fantastic - we had wings, calamari, my boyfriend had the pork chops and I had the salmon dish. The wings and calamari were delicious - both glazed in a sweet asian chili sauce. The entrees were a little heavy with the sauce but very delicious nonetheless. We happened to go during restaurant week and a huge perk was that they offered up access to the full menu instead of a pre-fixe menu. The waitress was attentive and friendly. The food came out a little slow, but not a problem for us as we were there to take our time and enjoy each other's company. read more

I went with my friend on a Wednesday night (6.26.19 to be exact). I don't know if that makes a difference or if the people that wrote previous reviews are impatient spoiled giant toddlers. I am aware some people might have bad experiences but some people also may be dramatic. I went on a Groupon. We were sat down immediately. The waitress was very patient and accommodating since we couldn't make up our minds. We had the crab cakes, meatballs (there was half off on apps so we tried a few) and shared the Chicken Marsala. They were all very tasty. The valet was polite and prompt as well. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. I attended New Years Eve at Skyline and was extremely disappointed for a number of reasons. First of all, I tried several times to call to ask questions all to no avail. The recording says that there was complimentary valet, but we had to pay $20.00 for valet parking besides the fact that it was $75.00 per person. Our tickets said it started at 7, we arrived at 8:20, were told we were upgraded and could not enter until 9 pm, at which point we were told we could go into the outside tent next door to wait until 9 pm. When we finally went in, it was just a huge dance floor, food was called "light fare", there were 3 chafing dishes, the tongs were huge and you could not grab the food with them, not to mention that we had to eat off plastic dishes with plastic forks, and standing up. There was absolutely no place to sit. There were 2 dishes with cheese and grapes, no crackers, so again, what was the $75.00 per person fee covering. Drinks were $14.00 and they were served in very small plastic cups. The only thing was we got to go on the patio at midnight to see the fireworks and the ball drop. Which I could have seen if I just took a drive downtown at midnight. Bottom line was it was way over price for a whole lot of nothing. I felt like I was 16 and at a dance club, because that was what it was. The food was comparable to a high school dance as well. Serving spoons would have been more sufficient to grab the pasta other than tongs that were so huge, you couldn't even squeeze them closed to grab the pasta. I will NEVER go there again. Oh, this guy (manager? owner?) is a manipulator par excellence. He posted to Yelp on each and all negative reviews that they were a mistake, referring to another venue. No, sir, I DID review Skyline at Waterplace, which IS open as a restaurant on Waterfire nights, which DID cancel a reservation for a party of 15 three days before the event, and which notified me via text message, not even a personal call. The other negative reviews that were previously entered will all be removed, apparently - I just got an email from Yelp saying my review was removed since it was not for Skyline at Waterplace. Yelp, you are not doing your customers a service if the business can have deleted any negative comment by claiming it is not their establishment, without somehow corroborating with the poster. read more

Went to an event, pulled up to valet parking. We got out and its $10 to valet park your car. May not have been an issue but there is NO sign stating the fee. Not cool when customers are coming into your establishment to spend money. So when booking this place, let your guest know they need to pay $10 to come to your event read more

The customer service is not very good. I had a private function there. My sales person was not easy to work with. Hardly returned emails. Never sent receipts. Promised me things that never happened. The actual event did not go smoothly at all. The food was 15 mintues late. They forgot to put out one item. Nothing was labeled. The desserts they promised were not what we got. They had to go to another bar to get cold beer. There was a constant flutter of workers from other functions walking in and out of my area because the office was in the back so they all kept walking back and forth. Before the function started there was zero toilet paper in one of the stalls which tells me obviously nobody checked the bathrooms. The server and bartender were watching the world cup towards the end of the lunch when there wasnt much for them to do. I found that unprofessional. I am still chasing down my sales person for a copy of a receipt. He did the same thing with the deposit. I had to hunt him down for a receipt. It is quite basic. If you put a charge on someone's card you email them a receipt right away. I would not book this venue again or recommend this venue. I will say the food I tasted was delicious and was plentiful. If only it was labeled..if only it was everything I was promised and if only it had been out on time. read more

I've been to Skyline a couple times now. The first time I came was just to grab a couple drinks on a Friday night, the atmosphere was great for someone my age (29) no underage kids. Rare to find these days. The second time I came to grab dinner on the patio which was phenomenal. The location is perfect and the food was up to my girlfriends standards (shes picky).
