Here are some words that come to mind when I think of the space: chic, vintage, intentional, beautiful, versatile and lovely. Amanda, the owner, was great from the start. Patient, kind and helpful. Her experience was evident throughout our entire planning process. She worked with us to up to the very end, easing our little anxieties and assisting us with whatever we needed. The staff at Queen Anne's was amazing! We were so pleased with the above and beyond service. A room flip was needed after the ceremony, for the reception. It was done in a timely, efficient fashion, and for that, we (and our guests), were so grateful. Food was exactly what we expected- and delicious. We opted for food stations, rather than a formal sit-down dinner. Appetizer platters, salad, sliders and pizza. Everything was fantastic. No complaints from us or our guests. We had a blast! Planning process: Our coordinator was repeatedly rude and condescending toward my mother throughout the planning process. She was also disorganized -- it took multiple rounds of corrections before she had our event details right. She also gave us incorrect measurements for pipe and drape, resulting in a $2,000 charge for a setup that couldn't be used as intended. Credit card fraud: About two months after our wedding, we noticed a fraudulent charge on the credit card we'd given the venue for our event. After investigating with our credit card company, we traced it to an email linked to this same coordinator's name, with an IP address in Newport, RI. We reported this to OceanCliff immediately. At first, they seemed genuinely engaged in getting to the bottom of it and asked us to file a police report, which we did. The Newport Police investigation confirmed the employee had stolen our credit card information and used it for personal purchases. Once the investigation concluded, OceanCliff went silent. Despite repeated requests, they never told us how our information was compromised, what changes they've made to prevent it from happening to other couples, or offered any acknowledgment of the time, stress, and violation of trust this caused during what should have been one of the happiest periods of our lives. We trusted this venue with our wedding and our financial information, and that trust was badly broken -- first by an employee, and then by a venue that stopped engaging once the legal matter was resolved. I can't in good conscience recommend OceanCliff to other couples.

I'm sure the outdoor tables are fun during the day, but the restaurant should rethink how they market themselves, or change over the tables on the dock at night to match the indoor environment. (Or invest in better furniture so it feels like what you're paying for dinner is worth it.) Add Henri the hurricane to the mix and we had some challenges for the dinner. We had cocktails on the front lawn. Then, the NYYC set is up outside in the motor court area for dinner. This allowed us to get our entire group together. Weather was perfect. Calm Before the storm as they say. We even had the opportunity to watch the clubs "colors" ceremony when they retreat the flag each evening prior to sunset. Now getting to the food and service. With COVID it is especially hard to find amd keep good servers. We struggle with that at our club. It here at the NYYC. First they had plenty of staff. A welcome reprise from those businesses who can't seem to ramp staff back up. Even more impressive, their staff are trained very well. Women first, serve from left, remove from Right etc... I was thoroughly impressed that during COVID, and the night before a major hurricane, the NYYC was able to host the dinner for the StFYC and do so at such a best-of-class level. Once we sat down, we were asked what we wanted to drink. Wine and beer were brought over, and when we reached for our wallets we were told, "the drinks are on us - just tip the musician!" WHAT?! How great is that? The vibe of the Meeting Place was so welcoming, fun, and alive. Everybody knew that they were witnessing something wonderful in both our hosts and the musician. Eventually, seats were cleared away and a dance floor opened up, bringing a room full of strangers together in foot-stomping, arm-swinging dancing. We were all laughing, sweating, and having one of the best nights, ever. Music stopped at 11:30 due to ordinance rules, and we made sure to make every last minute count. A few of us hung out once the music ended to chat with the owner and staff, who were, as expected, awesome human beings. This place is a great addition to the fabric of Newport and I'll be singing its praises to everyone I meet.
