I went to an event at the Casino, it was really nice and the food and the setup were really well done. Located in the midst of Roger Williams Park, this building features a brick exterior and verandas adorned with Ionic columns, semi-circular porticos and railings with turned balusters in the, Colonial Revival architectural style of the late nineteenth century. The interior walls of the first floor are constructed of hand-finished wood panels, the original floors are maple, and details such as beveled mirrors and an emerald green tiled fireplace lend a formal and elegant air to the surroundings. Upstairs, the Ballroom was used in the old days for special social events, especially during the '30's and '40's. That is where our event was held and it was a really roomy space. Loved the well kept hardwood floors and the plaster friezes and frescoes of cherubs and musical instruments that adorn the 20-foot ceilings. This grand room, with its birch floors, is painted in warm, rosy tones to evoke a sense of well being, a priority during the "Gay Nineties". At night, it is nicely lit up. read more

Almost 25 years ago, I attended a family wedding ceremony which was held at the gazebo outside the casino. I got to play Canon in D as I watched my mother happily remarry and begin what has proven to be a successful marriage for all this time. A dream come true. Afterwards, we had booked the reception to be held inside the casino and the night was so much fun! When you experience an outdoor wedding and follow with a reception inside a beautiful, classy, and historical building full of all your closest friends and family it becomes a memory you appreciate. read more

Roger Williams park is such a beautiful place for Rhode Islanders to enjoy and I think many times that I have just taken it for granted. When I was a teacher we brought a whole team of students here to enjoy Rhode Island's beautiful park with its many parts and pieces and nooks and crannies and water and fountains and hills and picnic areas including the carousel. There's just so much to see and do here and I am truly grateful for the spot. I came through the other day and I decided to look up the history of the park because I was not really familiar with it. I knew that it was named after Roger Williams, a founder of Rhode Island but I didn't really know much more than that. So I did my homework. The land for the park was a gift to the people of Providence in 1872, donated in the will of Betsey Williams, the last descendant of Roger Williams to inherit his land. It had been the family farm and was the last of the original land granted to Roger Williams in 1638 by Canonicus, chief of the Narragansett tribe. The family farmhouse was built in 1773 and is now known as the Betsey Williams Cottage; the cottage and the Williams family burial ground are within the park. The original gift consisted of about 100 acres. Additional land to the south was purchased in 1891 at a cost of $359,000, consisting mostly of unimproved land that was covered with woods and ponds; it brought the total area of the park to about 400 acres. New England is an amazing place to live. We are so rich in history of the beginnings of the United States and I think sometimes I just accept it but I've really started to look more since the pandemic and being stuck in the house so much. We have taken to going on rides around the state to look at the landscape just to entertain ourselves. It has made me much more appreciative of what we have here. If you haven't been to Roger Williams Park then you really need to go. It is a gem within the city of Providence. read more

Beautiful place to have a wedding reception or party! The grounds are very well maintained and the location is central in the state. Parking lot is a good size but you will need to park on the roads for larger parties. read more

I attended a wedding here, it was an outdoor wedding what a beautiful venue on a beautiful day. It has a huge gazebo and a long staircase leading down to the seating. Inside the building the doors and the stairs were a little antiquated but it has a very rustic touch, very Victorian old world. Could use some updating. The layout not very user-friendly but definitely a cute little place! read more

RW Casino is gorgeous. I had my wedding there last weekend. Heather Manning is absolutely wonderful and was a pleasure to work with! She was extremely knowledgable and really helped me start off my wedding planning! Honestly, if you want a romantic, vintage like wedding, this is the perfect location. My husband and I had our wedding at the Roger Williams Casino on September 24th, 2016 and it was amazing! When looking for venues we found the typical, high priced country clubs which did not seem to fit our style. When we viewed Roger Williams Casino we were instantly sold. The vintage charm of the entire building is what reeled us in. When we first discovered that we would need to get a caterer, we were a bit disappointed because we thought it was going to be a hassle. Looking back, I am so glad that we had the choice because we could pick a caterer that was within our budget that made amazing food (Russell Morin). Heather was awesome throughout the process. Whenever I had a question she responded quickly and provided some great suggestions. There was a minor hiccup when scheduling our wedding pictures at The Temple to Music but Heather quickly remediated it. When booking, Heather warned us that there was a potential that the gazebo outside could be closed as it was due to be repaired. We decided to take the chance and it was in fact closed when it came time for our wedding. Initially we were disappointed but when I arrived on the day of our wedding, the downstairs in front of the fireplace was setup so beautifully. I would not change it even if I could! But the good news is the gazebo will be repaired for anyone getting married after us! The Roger Williams Casino was also convenient in that we did not have to rent tables and chairs. The tables and chairs that they have there went perfectly with the room. There are also so many photograph opportunities within the park! read more

Had my wedding reception and ceremony here. Gorgeous! All the guests were impressed and the rental price was reasonable for city residents. Heather is one to talk to, she knows her stuff. We were disappointed with our caterer and Heather helped rip them a new one too...because we got some money back from the caterer, I will not disclose their name or provide a review of them. My husband I got married here in June 2010. Extremely helpful and straightforward staff. They are definitely looking out for your benefit and trying to get you the best value. Very flexible and down to earth. A beautiful venue that offers so much for so little. The casino (which isn't really a casino, but a big brick house) is set in Roger Williams Park between the Japanese Garden and the Rose Garden--couldn't pick a more beautiful place! There is also the convenience of having a ceremony site right behind the house on a small lake. Definitely would recommend to other brides! Also a great park just to hang out in for a picnic or to stroll among the gardens. A carousel and zoo are also on the grounds. read more

The Roger Williams Park Casino isn't the kind you're thinking of...with slot machines and such. It's a gorgeous old manor with huge white columns, and is an amazing place to have a wedding. The interior of the upstairs dining room is completely breathtaking...elaborate molding and details...I couldn't stop staring at it. Really lovely. read more

I just attended a wedding here and it was magnificent. On the first floor, there was a band, full bar and snacks served while we waiting for the bride and groom to arrive. We went upstairs for a buffet dinner and dancing ... and the bar moved upstairs with us :) Everything was perfect and the setting was beautiful. read more

Roger Williams Park Casino was the location for our July 2010 wedding. I live in Cambridge, MA and found that Providence, RI would be a more affordable location for our wedding to take place. We found the Casino online and it was great. What I liked best is that they only have one event per day and the ENTIRE building is yours! That includes the bandstand for an outdoor ceremony, the ground floor and the ballroom upstairs. This helped improve the "flow" of our wedding and led to great transitions from ceremony/cocktail hour / reception. The venue is a great deal and we were able to do our searching for a good bargain on caterers. Working with the staff was great, they know their stuff. I was able to do a few different onsite visits to check things out and was very happy with the end result. I highly reccomend!:) read more
