Today we decided to go to Skyline Catering for lunch. He had the Cubano Sandwich, I had the fish fry. His is ala cart, unfortunately I did not get a picture of his sandwich. I had the Fish Fry entree, battered and fried. You get 2 pieces of fish, choice of potato, I got potato pancakes, coleslaw, cup of soup, bread, tartar sauce, lemon and I asked for applesauce for the potato pancakes. Something that has never happened here before is I had to go back as they forgot tarter sauce, lemon, coleslaw, butter for the bread and applesauce. By having to go back, my husband ate half of his sandwich, saved half for when I got back and we could somewhat eat together, so I never got a picture of his sandwich. The fish fry was good, but I am thinking it would have been better if I would not have had to go back. Next time I will eat it there. I have one piece of fish left, my bread and soup for tomorrow. Can't speak on their catering but, used to eat at the deli at least once a week. I purposely tried a few more times after a slew of bad experiences before leaving this review. It is now consistently bad and VERY sadly, I will not be back. Dumpling soup used to be incredible, now it tastes like new is consistently added to old. Salads were top notch, now they just appear that way on the outside while wilted, rotten lettuce and veggies hide within. The fish sandwich was to-die-for but, is now heavily battered and tasteless on a bun that is always burned. French Dip was also amazing but, again, is now never consistent. So disappointing as this place was once SOOOO GOOD. read more

This little gem in South Milwaukee has great lunchtime fare. On my latest visit I ordered a BLT and my husband ordered a cheese burger. The portions are generous, and their fries are delicious. As usual, we split a warmed up house made blueberry muffin for dessert. When you visit, peek your head into the wedding venue attached to the bar/restaurant area. It has beautiful exposed brick walls and warm lighting. With great parking available, I imagine the party area is in high demand. Their new addition of a fish fry at what us locals call the BE Club is absolutely OUTSTANDING! The staff consists of beautiful young and respectful ladies floating effortlessly through the busy restaurant. I had the baked shrimp, my husband had the cod. I woke up craving more this morning. Updating my review since we got married last week! Ernie and his crew delivered and then some. On the day of the event, everyone was super nice and helpful. The staff were able to roll with the changes, as our event didn't go quite according to plan. The weather threatened to pour rain on us for a week leading up to the event, and Ernie was ready and wiling to work with us on whatever rain plan we came up with. We also threw Ernie a curve ball when we asked if he could supply ice cream novelty treats, something that's not on the regular menu. He was up for the challenge and brought an assortment of fun and tasty frozen goodness, which was really a saving grace on our 90-degree wedding day! All the food was as delicious as we remembered, of course. We had a blast, and we went home with tons of leftovers that we got to enjoy for the rest of the week. We recently ordered a few simple appetizers for my husband's memorial service. Skyline Catering did an awesome job with the order! I highly recommend the snack basket. It had quite a variety of snacks in it--little bags of chips, granola bars, fresh fruit, cookies, rice krispie treats, and little nut trail mixes, etc. I was quite impressed with the selection. We also got 2 cheese, sausage, cracker and grapes trays, and a try of fresh cut-up veggies with dip. There was a nice selection of cut up veggies and several types of cheeses and sausages.The display was beautifully packaged in wicker trays and cloth napkins and some with nice serving platters. Skyline Catering has been my "go to" caterer for the last two years and I have never been disappointed in the quality of the food, the generous portions or the great staff who deliver and set-up our lunch. I typically order sandwiches for lunch to feed our group of 18 - 20 and everyone attending the meeting raves about the sandwiches. The chicken salad on a croissant and the veggie sandwiches on multi-grain are in my opinion the best in the City of Milwaukee. Believe me I've eaten a lot of chicken salad sandwiches and no other deli uses the generous portion and fresh ingredients Skyline uses. I also order a hot lunch for our Annual Holiday Party. This year I was stumped as to what we should have other than Italian and Chinese which we've had for the last six years. Ernie, the owner, without hesitation said "how about a taco bar"......what a great idea!! Needless to say, when I mentioned this idea to the committee everyone at first they were skeptical but when I told them I was ordering from Skyline it was a unanimous YES!!!! Due to their catering business, they are not open on Saturday (bummer) which is the day I'm usually in the neighborhood running errands and would love to have a bowl of soup and a sandwich for lunch rather than waiting until I get home. EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS! Ordered a lunch pack for work and was in taste bud heaven! I had the Caesar chicken wrap that was fully loaded. They do not skimp on the food here! My fiance and I met with Skyline about a year ago to book them for our wedding this June. We were first offered an in-person meeting with the owner, Ernie, to discuss our needs and wishes. The meeting was very professional, yet casual; it took place at their office and deli. A few weeks later we went back for our tasting. When we arrived, the dining area was set for us with linens and tableware. We were welcomed and offered drinks immediately. Unlike other caterers, Skyline does not double book tastings, so we were lucky in being truly catered to. In addition, we were afforded the privacy of an honest dinner. Many other caterers will sit with you and watch you chew. This was not the case at Skyline, however, wait staff (and Ernie) were available on-demand for any questions we had. Between courses, Ernie offered detailed descriptions of each food being presented. After the tasting we sat with Ernie and discussed our likes, dislikes and suggestions. He offered great advice and even assured us that he would be at the event himself to oversee the entire service. This was a commitment we appreciated. The month before the wedding, Ernie and his lead staff, John, met with us at the venue for the final meeting. Skyline was accommodating in being flexible with minor changes and was even able to acquire last minute service needs (extra tables, flatware, etc). On the day of the wedding, service and food was phenomenal! We had passed appetizers during cocktail hour which our guests raved about. We served a 'family-style' dinner which other caterers we met with called 'tricky.' Skyline pulled it off smashingly. In lieu of a cake, we wanted to serve pies to each table. Skyline's bakery came through with fantastic pies and was the perfect end to dinner. All things said, it was great. I have eaten both from the retail deli as well as from Skyline having catered over a dozen events for my organization within the past two years. Each meal is just as delicious as the next. This place has amazing food! I have only used them for lunch and a few personal dinners but they have me sold!! The staff is all smiles and ready to serve whenever I have been in the Deli. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. And I am so glad they are only minutes from my home. I plan on using them for for future functions in my home. Every time I have something from Skyline Catering & Express Deli it is fabulous. Very consistant with the quality of food. One of my favorites for a meal is the meatloaf, no wait the salmon, no wait the hot turkey dinner. Okay. I have never been disappointed. And the variety of soups and sandwiches are perfect. Enough to choose from but not so much that you have to spend 20 minutes deciding. I recently had a Soutwestern parfait with tortilla chips and boy was that the best snack. Every worker must be paid quite well because they are ALL happy to be there and are always ready to help. Someone has been right at the counter when I walk in. And I have been to Sklyline a lot. And the deli has always been extremely clean. All in all. Hire them to cater your event and for gosh sakes go and have a sandwich or pick up a hot entree to go from the deli. Skyline Catering has delicious food! From the catering side, I've been at a handful of events with food supplied by Skyline Catering and it has always been exceptional. From the Skyline Catering Express side (their walk-in deli) I always find something new and tasty every time I go there. Some of my personal favorites include the Chicken Tortilla Soup, the Black Bean Veggie Burger and the Strawberry Chicken Gorgonzola Salad. It's great for a quick lunch stop or if I'm feeling too lazy to cook, I can grab dinner from Skyline Catering Express because they have a plethora of entrees I can re-heat at home. I've had their handmade pizza as well and it's a much healthier and hearty choice than the generic frozen pizzas you find at grocery stores. If you haven't stopped at Skyline yet, you need to go there and try some of their good eats! read more
