Came here for hill training (I'm preparing for a half-marathon in March). There are several trails that start from the Skyline trailhead. I took the dirt road trail that leads up to the Doppler. It's just over 5 miles to get there. I turned around after 4 miles and about 1680 ft of elevation gain (according to Map My Run). My calves were burning before the two mile mark. It was a fantastic hill workout, one that I would definitely do again. But enough me, you probably want to know what the trail is like. The dirt road trail is not as impressive as the other trails, specifically the hidden trail that leads to the rock walls with climbing ropes (now that's an ADVENTURE). However, the dirt road trail does over impressive views of Corona and the rest of the Inland Empire. I would like to come here again at night to see the skyline. Bottom line: would come here again for hill training (and a little adventure) PS- the trail is dog-friendly, woof! read more

Not bad of a trail at all. It's small compared to others we've been to, but not bad considering it's literally up the street from where I live. It's located by residential areas, so the road is pretty much laid out for you (you basically won't get lost). Don't be fooled though - there are some pretty steep areas, so just a heads up. If you're in the Corona area, definitely hit up this trail. read more

Once you get passed the dog poop in the first stretch behind the housing its a decent area to hike. Several different trail options. We were able to get some amazing views once we were on top. One of the highlights besides the view once we got to the top was a car that had crashed a while back deep down in one canyons or so we were told by the groups of guys that were rummaging through it for goods. read more

Skyline is a great place to go hiking if you want to stay local in the Corona area. If you're willing to drive somewhere more green, I'd recommend elsewhere. I only say this, because most of the view is shrubby and brown, but hey, I might be biased just because I prefer green grass. Since this is the closest place to hike for me in Corona though, I have spent a lot of my time in these mountains. There are so many different routes, for both beginners and people who are looking for more of an adventure. (DO THE ROPE TRAILS IF THAT IS YOU) The skyline is beautiful, and you can see most of Corona if you get high enough. I did the rope trails most recently and the view was amazing. It's a nice trail. It's a shame that you can see a lot of the burnt bits from fires' past :( it would be even more lovely with more green, but in time it will reach its original form. I took the off beaten path last time I was there and climbed up a small mountain/large hill. It was great and my legs definitely were sore the next day. I happily felt the burn. Still a great hike although parking has changed. You can only park west of the entrance on the new street. The new street actually adds in more mileage to your workout if you're up for it. I ended up doing 2.75 up then down and went west on Foothill past where I parked and back to my car totaling 7.5 miles. A good hilly workout for sure. read more

Great conditioning hike in preparation for Whitney. Made it all the way past Beeks Peak to the Doppler ball. Amazing views. Friendly people. Went on a Sunday and most of the crowds didn't take the skyline route. Would like to find the ropes next time. read more

I hiked here for the 1st time back in March. It was a drizzly day. There are a few trails to choose from. On that day we chose the old tin mine trail. The trail is clearly marked and follows a creek in a canyon. It is a short hike and relatively easy. It is about 3 miles out & back. You'll know you've reach the end when you see a sign that says "The End"; although, you could go on exploring a little further the the terrain gets challenging (boulder scrambling). At that time the foliage & surrounding hillsides were very lush & green with vegetation from all the rain we received thus winter. I returned a few days later and explored the trail to the Doppler radar. I did not do the entire trail on that day. This trail is moderately challenging. The trail out & back is about 11.5 miles with 3000 ft elevation gain. This trail continues on to connect to Blackstar Canyon for a whopping 28 miles thru hike if you're up for an extreme challenge or bring your mountain bike for a nice long ride! Beware of rattlesnakes, coyotes (that's not a dog!) and apparently mountain lions (?) I went back in late May and the creek has mostly dried up. Also, there is much poison oak! And if the bees are humming in the trees let them be. They will not bother you if you don't bother them. Great place to forage for sage. Happy trails! read more

First time on this hike like forever ago but never approved this review for posting lol. Intended to do only 3 miles up, was such a great scenery I couldn't stop, went up to the ball. Overall trip was over 13 miles. 6.53 one way. Loved every minute. Can't wait to go back. Sad moment, to see so many cars that had driven off the mountain at some point, horrific. I saw 3. There's plenty of room but after seeing those cars I would never attempt to drive. read more

I love this place! it's calm and relaxing I do suggest to go up early or around dusk,However the sun can be your enemy as well as the highly traveled road of the vehicles going up and down the place. I bring my Lil pooch up here with me she' loves to hike and this hike challenges us both - 6 miles all incline and its so worth it!!! You get great views and it is more peaceful than anything. the only downfall is yes, the cars, dirt bikes, mountain bikers and the sense that one of these things will have you plummeting towards the edge or even off the trail. I come here about 2 times a month so its not all that bad!!! read more

I'm visiting from Northern California; I'm originally from Corona. Skyline Drive is a good workout during the winter. I had fantastic views of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino Mountains as well as the Chino Hills, Pomona, and surrounding areas. Highly recommended. Yes, you have to be wary of vehicles and motorcyclists. The "Nature Trail" that is just off Skyline Drive before the switchbacks begin is a great hiking area and you'll avoid mountain bikers and all that. You walk by streams and the not-to-be-missed mining portal that is covered by a bat gate. read more

Probably some of the best trails if you're local to Corona and are looking for a place to hike! There's a couple of trails here but some of them were closed due to the Canyon 2 fire! The main trail to the Doppler is still open! There's beautiful views of Corona once you start heading up and good workout because of the incline on the way up! Good family hike and very pet friendly as I took my dog to the trails. Also saw many families on my way up and down the main trail! read more

This was a great hiking trail. It ranges from moderate to intense because the incline remains pretty constant. It made for a great group hike. A great view of the city from above. Along the way we saw 3 cars that had gone over and apparently had been sitting there as wreckage for quite some time. Other than that, it was a great scenic route and definitely a workout as most of us that were new to hiking could still feel the tightness of our muscles 2 days later. Parking along Foothill Parkway is sufficient. I'd suggest arriving no later than 7AM on the weekends because it gets pretty crowded. read more

I'm relatively new at hiking and relatively new at being healthy but the trails that this place offers make it easier. The nature trail basically follows close to the stream bed which somewhat sucks because flies gravitate towards the stream bed as well. Although, being surrounded by lush trees and nothing but the sounds of fidgeting animals are somewhat worth the flies. Anyways, if being surrounded by creek animals isn't your thing you can always take the skyline drive trail which is such a great hike and contains great views. If you're a novice hiker like myself, you'll enjoy the hike just take note that it's something around 9 miles. Oh, it's pet friendly. Many people bring their dogs of all sizes up the trails. There are also cyclists. A lot of health fitness groups come on the weekends. No restrooms. No drinking fountains. Going up skyline is like 80 percent sun exposure. Did I mention that the overwhelming majority of people that come here are friendly and acknowledge you? My advice is that no matter how short of breath you have and no matter if you have a puddle of sweat running down your back, politely greet the people you pass up/by. read more

We hiked the Tin Mine Canyon trail, great place to hike with children and pets. Hike is 1 1/4 miles one way. Air is fresh, wildlife and very peaceful; you almost forget you're in Corona. The best part is when you get beyond the mine. read more

I enjoy the trail as it has great scenery from all the view points. The trail parking is off foothill where it dead ends. There is a path that goes around the neighborhood to the trailhead. Only handicap parking is offer at the trailhead in the development. The trail is gradual but continuous uphill for the first 3.5 to 4 miles. Many people go to the ball which is a little past the towers and return which is between 10 and 11 miles from the parking on foothill. The trail is wide. There is really no flat section. You are on hills up or down in the roundtrip the whole time. Start early in the summer as it can get very hot. For an out and back trail you get a different perspective of the scenery so it isn't that bad. read more

I love this place. I didn't know I lived right around the corner from this amazing hiking trails. Parking is free along Foothill. It's perfect for everyone. Walking,running, climbing, and mountain biking. There's a lot of trails; from easy to difficult. I recommend the rope trails if you're more of an adventurer. Tip: the rope trails are pretty hidden but if you find them be careful. Can't trust the ropes and if you do, make sure you give it a nice pull first. I've had ropes break on me before. All in all, I recommend this trails to everyone; it has an extremely beautiful scenery. Let's keep the trails clean and pick up after yourself! read more

Such a convenient hiking trail right in Corona! I live in the neighborhood right in front of the trailhead entrance and I've seen the trails grow in usage every year. Free parking on Foothill Pkway, but don't even try to get closer to the trail entrance since the neighborhood streets are parking permit only now. Anyone can go, as there are multiple trails you can take. You can ride your bikes, run, bring your kids, bring your dogs...pretty much anything! It can get pretty hot in the summer, especially at the top since there isn't any shade, so make sure to have lots of water and sun block. Rope trail is exciting but can be difficult to find. There is some coverage in this trail when walking up to the first set of ropes until you get to higher altitude. Like other Yelpers have said, make sure you're with someone and make sure the ropes are durable before using them! read more

One of my first and favorite place to hike since moving here nearly 10 years ago. So many different trails and sights to see. Spring is the best with all of the flowers in bloom. Tin Mine trail in the fall is beautiful and you may see some beautiful wildlife as well. read more

Went here with a friend for a morning hike. Parking is plentiful in a safe neighborhood on Foothill Parkway. Instead of hiking up the Doppler ball, we took the other route and found a trail that took us to Blackstar Canyon. Be careful if you end up going that far because reception gets lost around there. This trail was predominantly uphill, so it was a good workout. Lots of cool breeze and clouds to keep you cool for most of the hike. read more

The trail has some wear and tear to it, but it's a blast to walk this trail. They had taken ropes and ladders out for a while, but people have a way of making their own path every time. Be careful on this trip for snakes are a danger almost year round, and the gravel can slip out from under you at moments notice. All in all a great place to get a sight of Corona, and a great hike. read more
