Though I did not have…read morethe opportunity to fish in this world renowned fly fisher's haven, I did however have the honor of staying in the hunter's cabin on the ranch for two amazing nights. Justin and Judy are incredibly kind and giving individuals, and their passion for the land is manifested through their dialogue, and that simple look of absolute adoration they both bear. Being from California, I am not accustomed to seeing such a great mass of land and understanding that it is managed and maintained by a few honest people. Though I cannot possibly fathom what drive and dedication it takes to care for the ranch and creek, I do however know, without a doubt, that when it comes to Yelp, five stars is an understatement.

With over 1.5 miles of fishable riffles, runs, and pools, the spring creek is a classic trout stream offering great dry fly, nymphing and even streamer water. Spring creek fishing is like nothing else in fly fishing. Consistent cold temperatures create an ecological niche for insect hatches that feed a healthy trout population in a clear riffle-and-pool creek meant for wading. The challenge of sight fishing to large and wary trout is something that must be experienced by every trout fisherman.

An Unforgettable Rafting Experience for Our Entire Family!…read more We had an incredible day on the river rafting trip with Flying Pig! Our group of 17 family members--ranging in age and experience--was warmly welcomed and exceptionally well taken care of. From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly, organized, and clearly passionate about what they do. They made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable, while still delivering an exciting, adventure-packed trip down the river. The guides were not only knowledgeable about the rapids and safety, but also shared fun facts about the area and kept everyone engaged and laughing the whole time. Coordinating a large group isn't easy, but they handled it flawlessly. Everything ran smoothly, from check-in to the ride back. It truly felt like they went above and beyond to ensure we all had a fantastic experience. One unexpected bonus--they took beautiful action photos throughout the trip! It was amazing to relive the adventure through such high-quality shots, especially since we were too busy paddling and having fun to worry about capturing the moment ourselves. If you're looking for a professional, fun, and family-friendly rafting company--look no further. We'll definitely be back!

Thanks to the crew at Hell's A-Roarin for my spunky horse Pet and to Sofie at Flying Pig for a fun ride and sharing her stories. Wind was blowing so hard at one point we were going backward, and we had a couple squalls come through, so we got our moneys worth because we were late getting to the exit point. Got to swim in the river for a bit on the ride. Good times!

On that day, a storm must've been moving in because the wind was gusting and there were actually waves on the lake! We got out a couple times and explored the beachfront. I found a couple of bird feathers, which was exciting for me, and generally just amazing given the gusts of wind - I was surprised that they didn't blow away. On our third day in the park as we came back through from the fishing bridge headed towards Old Faithful, we went by the lake again, and we were stunned at the complete difference in personality that we were witnessing. The lake was completely and totally calm, quiet, and gentle. We had to stop and explore again, and it was such a different experience from the day before. This lakefront is amazing and it's definitely a place to be explored in the park.

It's a HUGE lake and it took me a while to drive down the road with the lake by my side. There are a lot of pulloffs that you can soak in the views or even go down to the lake and play in the water. It'll take you a while to drive around the entire lake and there are multiple parts of it. West Thumb and Grant Visitor Center will be closest to the main sections of the park and closest to Grand Loop Road. Although the South and Southeast arms of the lake are further away I imagine they're less crowded so you can have more peace doing all your fun activities.

Out party of three had no problem with the change. The guides were Royce (guide) Clayton (wrangler) and Kate (cook). I will say up front that they are the best. Very confident, knowledgeable and friendly. We had a medical issue come up with one of the other guest on day four that they handled expertly. This issue resulted in another change of route but again my party had no issues with the change.Kate needs special recognition as one fine trail cook. The meals she was able to prepare were excellent ranging from biscuits and gravy to eggs, bacon and potatoes for breakfast to the best steak I've had in my many visits to Cody to chili, spaghetti and pork loins for supper. She's the best. As for the actual ride itself, well all I can say is that I thought I'd be a lot more sore but in reality didn't feel bad once I was off the horse at the end of the day. Couple of notes, the altitude can play hell with your stamina if you're not acclimated, if you're shy about stripping down and bathing in a cold stream then bring lots of personal wipes. Make sure your sleeping bag is rated appropriately. I used a surplus Army two piece system that was perfect. Drink a lot of water throughout the day, don't wait til you're thirsty to hydrate. Trout fishing at the campsites was pretty good for those that fish. If you want a week long experience that will be the envy of your friends then you need to book this trip, remain flexible with any unforeseen changes and go enjoy the scenery.

From the moment we left the 2 male guides were perfect gentlemen, always willing to offer help with whatever we wanted or needed! Very thankful they brought their 2 dogs, as boldly they chased a grizzly off 2 nights! It was a little eerie one evening as we listened to wolves howling around us one night, but they didn't come into camp! The cook was female, very good and great company as we sat around camp one day swapping stories! They spoiled us and although we checked this off our bucket list, we would go again!
