The apartment rooms are also beautiful spaces with luxe carpets, modern kitchens, and baths, with good amount of storage. The food quality and service could be improved, but we ate at an odd time...2:30 pm on a Saturday. I can't say enough about the people running this... so many activities and the residents themselves are go-getter and so friendly. Beautiful facility ! We worked with the community relations Director and he was wonderful and helped us thru a very stressful process of convincing mom to leave her big house. He really knows how to talk to and relate to older persons, and he so committed and compassionate. He gave us incredible advice all along our journey to find a place for mom to live. He gave us incredible tips, referrals and information to help with the process. My mom chose this place out of all the ones we looked at, but due to timing issues and availability of units and some additional amenities she needed, we went with another wonderful Merrill Gardens property. She's dealing with progressing memory issues & simply adjusting to being a widow & apartment life. She loves all the staff - from management, the medical director, front desk, dining room, concierge, facilities, & cleaning staff - they are all kind, friendly, fun & supportive - not only to her but to me also. It feels like home to me too. The staff immediately took the time to learn my mums (and my) name and get to know her so she felt welcomed, seen and supported. They go out of their way to accommodate her needs, they are immediately responsive. She has challenges that they have recently found an amazing work around for, which will give her extra support & more purpose in her day. Amazing! She's lived in 2 different apartments in the building & both feel new, clean, fresh, bright. Very comfortable. The location is fantastic - walk a block or so right into the heart of Ballard, grocery store across the street, banks & pharmacy a block away. It's perfect. As soon as I met Ian (community relations director) an Lisa (general manager) when we toured the facility, I knew we had found her next home. They are absolutely wonderful people! Zero pretense - just down to earth, fun & really good at what they do. Transitioning her into the facility was easy (mostly for me) with thanks to how simple the staff made it - a big move after living in your home 30 yrs! Finding a suitable match for long-term care was challenging for our family. Luckily, we found Aegis Living on Market Street in Ballard as a residence and care facility. Aegis Living is not only top-notch in every aspect of senior care but also gives complete reassurance to our family that all of her needs and medications are being met with the utmost professionalism. The residence is very clean and the dining room offers excellent cuisine with daily specials. Everyday there are activities, exercise sessions, and programs designed to get my mom out of her room and involve herself with the other residents. Entertainers are regularly invited to perform on the grand piano in lobby and there'll even be a concert there in a few weeks for New Year's Eve. Although there are still times that my mom has the blues, our family can rest assured that she is has a group of new friends, gets three delicious hot meals a day, receives all her required medication in a timely manner, and most importantly, - she is safe and sound. norse home is a perfect place for those with no family and limited options ..but if you have…read moreanother option ....RUN. much of the staff is nice but the management is ineffectual and self serving. im in assisted living due to a debilitating stroke and in addition to having no knowledge or experience with my type of disability they dont seem to care. they have call buttons, and its included in the bill, but often they dont respond to them....when i complain they suggest i call on the phone.my disability makes that difficult....but thats their reponse....services for assisted living are minimal..sometimes depending on who your aide is and what they are willing or have time to do. some of them have tempers and WILL put their hands on you while no one has hurt me it is demeaning and a rotten power play to use on a disabled person. the food is terrible (overcooked cafeteria food) the dining/kitchen staff is not very experienced but VERY nice and works hard to please.

The adult family home owner, a nurse, said she visited the home daily but she clearly did not visit the residents or she would have seen these changes. She often did not respond to my calls or texts without my trying several times. And finally and most upsetting, she lied to DSHS. She was supposed to create a plan of care for my spouse and I was to sign it. When DSHS asked about this, she created a boiler plate plan and told the State I refused to sign it, which is a bold faced lie. I never saw a plan and she put words into my mouth to save reprimand. If your loved one needs very basic care, the place is probably okay, but just know that communication will be problematic and that the owner is deceitful.

Our family has two members currently residing at Ida Culver House. One is totally independent and…read morethe other requires more support. Both are pretty happy with the environment. They both state that they really enjoy the meals and the dining facilities, also the opportunities to socialize with others in a variety of dining options. I am unable to address the costs with any accuracy so I will say I only understand that fees are 'hefty'. But that includes all expenses. The family members support each them with frequent visits and supplement anything they need. At times, the staff is not 100% on the ball and require that we keep check on doctor's orders. It is important to do this since health issues are involved.  There are a variety of activities offered and many residents take advantage of the offerings and state that the choices are outstanding. These activities offer so much, friendships, socialization, enjoyment and much more. The programs are high quality and open to all. So far, the individual apartments are pretty basic. The windows are large and open onto lovely landscaping. Moving in required that each family member had to leave much behind and only bring in a few treasured items to fit into the small apartments. For our family members it is important that we 'supplement' their lives with our support. We do so with love and affection.

Every time I visit the Ida Culver house, I am just so impressed with the quality of the staff. One of the places where the staff has an opportunity to really shine is in the dining room. Every time I am there, I am just so impressed with how the staff handles their roles, how kind and engaging they are with the residents. At the end of pretty much every meal, "someone" seems to always mentions how great the staff is.

My mother never consistently got the care we were promised (e.g., got one shower per month vs. 3 per week in the plan, almost never wearing her compression socks vs. paying to have these on each day). As well, as someone with dementia, she mostly sat alone in her room. During the sales process we were told how skilled the staff were engaging with dementia residents. We didn't see that after moving in, so would complain, we'd see temporary improvement, but always short lived. Staff turnover is high. There were many really great people that provided good care, but were quickly gone. Ultimately we moved her to an adult family home which was light years better and a fraction of the cost.

My mother is 92 years old and was looking for a place to stay that could meet her needs now and as she ages further. She loved the apartment and the meal plan options, as well as the ability to meet others with so many planned activities. She also has a dog and is happy to be able to have her move with her. Billy and Andrea did a great job with a tour of the facility and carefully going over the contract agreements. Andrea was great relating directly with my mother to ensure she understood everything. Billy took extreme care to ensure my mother's needs were met and covered in every way. The welcoming was wonderful! We really appreciate the personal care both took in addressing my mother's needs and the concerns of her family.

Review of Cogir Queen Anne Assisted Living Community…read more Greetings! I almost never write reviews but I had to for Queen Anne Cogir. I can't say enough good things about this place. My Mom was in the assisted living building and I was constantly amazed at the level of care she received. Everyone was extra helpful and went out of their way to make sure she felt special. The "care team" members including house keeping established friendships with her and treated her as if she were their own mother. I can't remember all their names but I do remember Natasha and her sister (who was Natasha's supervisor) and Amena. Marnie Walker the Sales Manager was the one who helped us make the decision to choose Cogir Queen Anne and we never had cause to regret it. I'm not sure how the management has been able to assemble such a caring and positive staff. Everyone we dealt with (and I mean literally everyone from the front desk to the kitchen workers) was upbeat, happy and seemed to genuinely like their job. I compliment Ken Klotz Executive Director for cultivating such an inviting climate. Maria Crespo the Business Office Manager was always ready with a cheerful and caring attitude to help with not just financial issues but with anything else needed. Ernie Vigil the Health and Wellness Director manages always to make time for an informal chat and was a real blessing in answering any questions we might have and taking a personal interest in Mom's well being. Mom loved the food and the warm, cheerful atmosphere in the lobby. You can see why I give Cogir Queen Anne five stars and "two thumbs up" Mike Carrigan
