My mother is 92 years old and was looking for a place to stay that could meet her needs now and as she ages further. She loved the apartment and the meal plan options, as well as the ability to meet others with so many planned activities. She also has a dog and is happy to be able to have her move with her. Billy and Andrea did a great job with a tour of the facility and carefully going over the contract agreements. Andrea was great relating directly with my mother to ensure she understood everything. Billy took extreme care to ensure my mother's needs were met and covered in every way. The welcoming was wonderful! We really appreciate the personal care both took in addressing my mother's needs and the concerns of her family.

Review of Cogir Queen Anne Assisted Living Community…read more Greetings! I almost never write reviews but I had to for Queen Anne Cogir. I can't say enough good things about this place. My Mom was in the assisted living building and I was constantly amazed at the level of care she received. Everyone was extra helpful and went out of their way to make sure she felt special. The "care team" members including house keeping established friendships with her and treated her as if she were their own mother. I can't remember all their names but I do remember Natasha and her sister (who was Natasha's supervisor) and Amena. Marnie Walker the Sales Manager was the one who helped us make the decision to choose Cogir Queen Anne and we never had cause to regret it. I'm not sure how the management has been able to assemble such a caring and positive staff. Everyone we dealt with (and I mean literally everyone from the front desk to the kitchen workers) was upbeat, happy and seemed to genuinely like their job. I compliment Ken Klotz Executive Director for cultivating such an inviting climate. Maria Crespo the Business Office Manager was always ready with a cheerful and caring attitude to help with not just financial issues but with anything else needed. Ernie Vigil the Health and Wellness Director manages always to make time for an informal chat and was a real blessing in answering any questions we might have and taking a personal interest in Mom's well being. They create a care plan which is designed to charge…read morefor the services needed by the resident, but no accountability for delivering those services. My mother never consistently got the care we were promised (e.g., got one shower per month vs. 3 per week in the plan, almost never wearing her compression socks vs. paying to have these on each day). As well, as someone with dementia, she mostly sat alone in her room. During the sales process we were told how skilled the staff were engaging with dementia residents. We didn't see that after moving in, so would complain, we'd see temporary improvement, but always short lived. Staff turnover is high. There were many really great people that provided good care, but were quickly gone. Ultimately we moved her to an adult family home which was light years better and a fraction of the cost.

Finding a suitable match for long-term care was challenging for our family. Luckily, we found Aegis Living on Market Street in Ballard as a residence and care facility. Aegis Living is not only top-notch in every aspect of senior care but also gives complete reassurance to our family that all of her needs and medications are being met with the utmost professionalism. The residence is very clean and the dining room offers excellent cuisine with daily specials. Everyday there are activities, exercise sessions, and programs designed to get my mom out of her room and involve herself with the other residents. Entertainers are regularly invited to perform on the grand piano in lobby and there'll even be a concert there in a few weeks for New Year's Eve. Although there are still times that my mom has the blues, our family can rest assured that she is has a group of new friends, gets three delicious hot meals a day, receives all her required medication in a timely manner, and most importantly, - she is safe and sound. The environment resembled a well-run small hotel, where everyone stays abreast of who lives there and what is happening. In addition, the building itself at 223 W. Galer is in a charming Queen Anne neighborhood, with coffee shops, art galleries, tasty cafes, and well-loved restaurants. It is very accessible, with street parking and good bus connections. Two separate people, a man and woman, at separate times in trying to schedule for my parents to come see the facility-- made comments about our names, even joked that our last name doesn't sound Swedish. Listen- I've been a business owner here in Ballard and helped start three companies out of this neighborhood and lived here for nearly 30 years. No I'm not Scandinavian, thanks for noticing in the way your company seems comfortable doing. I am not only cancelling any visit, but I am also reporting your treatment of customers of color to the Secretary of State's office. You all are so comfortable in your prejudice you didn't realize that the year is 2026. You have as much access to the world as anyone and you should probably look out the window and check who your neighbors are. Your staff is atrocious. If you are a different company than you are showing yourselves to be- then what's the delay?

The apartment rooms are also beautiful spaces with luxe carpets, modern kitchens, and baths, with good amount of storage. The food quality and service could be improved, but we ate at an odd time...2:30 pm on a Saturday. I can't say enough about the people running this... so many activities and the residents themselves are go-getter and so friendly. Beautiful facility ! We worked with the community relations Director and he was wonderful and helped us thru a very stressful process of convincing mom to leave her big house. He really knows how to talk to and relate to older persons, and he so committed and compassionate. He gave us incredible advice all along our journey to find a place for mom to live. He gave us incredible tips, referrals and information to help with the process. My mom chose this place out of all the ones we looked at, but due to timing issues and availability of units and some additional amenities she needed, we went with another wonderful Merrill Gardens property. Had a wonderful visit as we start considering assisted living--in case we decide we need it in the…read morefuture. Because most of the public spaces were dramatically decorated and were small, and the exterior seemed less glamorous than many other facilities, we were not expecting to think of it highly. We were wrong. We found it to be an intimate and very cheerful option with lots of options for public living for people like us who don't need lavish. They had the services we might need. The food options were nice. we also really liked the size and feel of the apartments. It was also comforting to know there was a memory care floor so if that should become necessary, one could stay in the same facility. We also loved that our pet would be welcome and could even get walks through them should that be necessary. It also seemed like there would be less red tape about moving in. It moved high up on our list of potential options.
