I owe Dr, Tang and his staff my sanity!! I am bipolar (a…read morelabel I resisted for a long time). I accepted my depression but didn't want to recognize the mania aspect. His therapist was patient to point out recurring episodes that are clearly manic. I reluctantly agreed but was okay with my 'mania' because I am extremely productive during these times. (In essence I wanted to treat my depression but keep my mania) About 5 months into TMS, therapy, and medications, I (like so many patients) felt very good and discontinued treatment. Gradually (over 6 months), coupled with major traumatic events, my bipolar disorder became uncontrollable. Insomnia and panic attacks were taking over my life. I had never had a history of insomnia and panic attacks. These led to severe depression (and I no longer had my desired mania to help motivate me). In desperation (and much to my shame and embarrassment), I reached out to Dr. Tang and asked for help. His staff was gentle, understanding, and nonjudgmental about my self discontinued treatment. I was quickly seen (via Face Time...I love this because I don't drive and truly had no energy for an office visit) by a nurse and then Dr. Tang. I was honest with everything this go around. Within one week on the proper medications and support, I began sleeping, eating, and being productive in what I would consider a 'normal' fashion. I (and my family and friends) were getting the 'old me' back!! It was so wonderful she exciting!! Today (just one month later), I am free!! Dr. Tang (after careful and considerate review of my symptoms and history) NAILED my situation!!! No more panic attacks. No more insomnia (I have a great 8 hours of sleep). No more depression. And no more mania ((I am okay without it if it leads to me panic and insomnia that was severely debilitating. I am so very glad I returned to Dr. Tang. Again, there was no judgment concerning my decision to'do my own thing' without Dr, Tang and therapy. I am so at ease and balanced!! I highly recommend Nashville Brain Institute. Trust him and be honest. I did and am living again!!

Then I tried again and heard back and they told me for the neurofeedback I was interested in someone else would contact me, but they never did. A year later I tried again and I finally got someone to call me after reaching out multiple times and they said they don't take insurance, which is not what it seemed to say on their website. Overall I got bad vibes from them and so I'm leaving this review just to let them know that you lost a client before you even had them by being very bad at following up and very unclear and unforthright in your costs. Meanwhile other TMS and neurfeedback clinics in Nashville got back to me in 1 day. The only reason I tried to give this one a chance is because it was a closer drive, but it's just not worth it.

State-of-the-art technology, empathy, and care all played a pivotal role in our experience. Everyone went above and beyond. There just aren't enough words to express the appreciation. I wouldn't hesitate to seek care for myself or anyone I love here.

This is a condensed version of my experience due to Yelp's character limit. My complete review…read morecontains additional details about my experience and the months I have spent trying to resolve this matter. I went to Vanderbilt not only for tinnitus, but also because my primary care physician was concerned about a swollen lymph node beneath my ear that multiple people had been able to feel. I expected my concerns to be taken seriously and thoroughly evaluated. Before undergoing a hearing test, I questioned whether it was necessary because I was not experiencing hearing loss. I also expressed concerns about medical costs. I was already shocked to learn I would be charged two separate copays for what I considered to be a single appointment. Based on what I was told at check-in, I understood those copays would cover my visit. I had no reason to believe I would later receive more than $600 in additional charges. During my appointment, my concerns were not taken seriously by the physician. Rather than thoroughly evaluating the swollen lymph node my primary care physician was concerned enough to refer me for, I felt dismissed from the moment I tried to explain why I was there. The physician did not examine the area I was actually concerned about, and instead made a remark that if something were there, she would have felt it. Meanwhile, my primary care physician and others had been able to feel the area that concerned me. I left feeling unheard, dismissed, and laughed at rather than listened to. No treatment was offered for my tinnitus, no meaningful evaluation was provided for the swollen lymph node that prompted the referral, and the only additional services I received were the hearing test I questioned from the beginning and the removal of a small amount of earwax. Had I been informed that these services could result in hundreds of dollars in additional out-of-pocket costs beyond the two copays I had already paid, I would have declined both services. Instead, I later received a bill for more than $600 and was shocked to see billing descriptions such as "Operating Room Services," "Clinic-General Classification," and "Office Surgery" associated with what I believed was a routine outpatient visit. For months, I have repeatedly asked Vanderbilt three simple questions in writing: Was I informed of my potential out-of-pocket costs before these services? Was I given the opportunity to decline them after being informed? If not, why were they performed after I had already expressed concerns about medical costs? Rather than directly answering those questions, I was repeatedly told to call someone or was given explanations about deductibles and facility fees that did not address what I actually asked. I requested written responses because I work full-time and wanted a clear record of the information provided. Those questions remain unanswered. At one point Vanderbilt deliberately started to ignore my attempts at resolving this billing issue, a month later stating that their position stood even though my questions remained unanswered. Only after filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Tennessee Division of Consumer Affairs did Vanderbilt finally respond. Even then, rather than directly answering my questions, Vanderbilt referred me to documents they claimed supported their position. However, those documents were password-protected and could not be opened, preventing me from reviewing the very materials they relied upon. This dispute is still ongoing. Despite being told my concerns had been escalated, I continue to receive past-due statements, automated billing calls, and payment reminder text messages while my questions remain unanswered. This experience has consumed countless hours while I have been working full-time, attending college full-time, and managing ongoing health issues. The stress has significantly worsened my health. My advice to anyone considering Vanderbilt is to ask detailed questions about every service, every possible out-of-pocket charge, and to get everything in writing before agreeing to anything. This experience has permanently destroyed my trust in Vanderbilt. I will never set foot in another Vanderbilt facility again. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Vanderbilt to anyone and strongly encourage patients to seek care elsewhere. No patient should have to spend months fighting for answers after being blindsided by unexpected medical bills, only to have their reasonable questions repeatedly ignored.

Greetings to all, My…read moreexperience has been the opposite of the gentleman in the above review, I regret very much what does sound like a nightmare experience. My son has MoyaMoya disease that has required two brain surgeries by Dr. Mericle and his staff, and both times it went well. And associated tests went well too. We have been to the office and hospital about 6 times for different services and have always been happy with the doctors and the office personnel. We are fortunate to have Dr. Mericle here in Nashville, and to serve patients from around the U.S. charles coryn, lancing, tn.

It is impossible to communicate with anyone in the office. They do not answer the phone, and it does not roll to voicemail. There is only one contact number, no email address or any way to get in touch with them when the phone does not work! The last time I actually got through after FIVE attempts, I told them, and they agreed it was broken, but a month later, it is still not fixed. They are dealing with patients in excruciating pain and can't answer the phone?? We never saw the doctor. We saw the PA, which is fine, but we were not told to expect this. She was going to call us after MRI, and someone much less knowledgable did and we were unclear what the next steps were. They took forever to set up the referral for treatment. The most horrific problem we had was when they referred us to a different doctor for treatment, they sent the records for a DIFFERENT PATIENT over. So they were calling and sending paperwork to the wrong person. We never got any follow up calls. After the treatment was not effective, I called to discuss options and was told a nurse would call back. Nothing. Really it is unbelievable the lacking concern of any doctor office we have tried here in Nashville. But this was definitely the worst. We selected this doctor due to the large number of 5 star reviews on all the health review sites. Our experience was NOT good. (Also, they do not have online payment option like all the other doctor offices we have seen lately. Can't pay online, can't get through on the phone, can't pay while in the office. I don't mail checks.)
