Upon arrival, I checked in and the two women at the front desk were pleasant and welcoming (it's freezing in there but not the end of the world). Mikayla came out at 12pm and took me to her room. She prepped me by confirming what I was getting and asking a little about my history with waxing. We did some breathing together (a Brazilian is a Brazilian lol). Mikayla was great, she was efficient, meticulous and we had a nice chat during my service. My experience went left after I left and I was called by the front desk and asked to return because they did something wrong. I turned around and went back and the manager was extremely unpleasant. I asked what happened and she said with a very dismissive tone "I don't know I came out here to give you a refund" -in my mind I wondered well wouldn't you ask what went wrong? At any rate, she then asked me if it was my first visit, I said yes. She then went on to say no it's not, you went to our sister location so this is your second visit. I wasn't clear on her line of questioning and in fact it was my first visit to Woodmore (& likely my last). Mikayla was great but the managers attitude was unnecessary and very offensive to a new client. I'm also still unclear on why I was asked to return (got a refund and then paid the same amount).

The waxer I was scheduled with was late, and the front desk was not able to place me with anyone else. They did offer to rebook me for a later time, which I appreciated, but I already had plans and could not wait around. The location is convenient, and I can see the appeal, but for me, waxing is one of those services where consistency and attention to detail matter a lot. Good concept, but not what I am looking for.

This is highly important if you are non-white person who is considering professional skin treatments. I first went to Dedra for treatment in September of 2017 to help even the texture and complexion of my skin. She assessed my skin and deduced that I would see improvements in three months with regular treatments. She also worked with me to develop a specialized skin regimen. She told me which products to stop using and which ones to incorporate in my routine. Though Dedra sells PCA and Dermalogica products in her office, she never pushed any of them on me. She recommended products that I could pick up fro Target and the grocery store that were just as effective. When I felt I needed products with concentrated ingredients she advised on which products from her Dermalogica and PCA inventory would work best for my skin. Most people would try to sell you as many products as possible. Dedra informed me of all the ingredients in the products she selected for me and let me know how they interacted with each other. By December 2018, my skin drastically improved thanks to my home regimen and monthly treatments. I continue to see Dedra each month to maintain my progress and improve other areas. Dedra uses the latest and verified skin care treatments. Her workspace and equipment is meticulously cleaned and sanitized. I spend at least five minutes with Dedra reviewing my skin progress. If she believes I am ready for an advanced treatment she will advise me on how to prepare (not to shave, avoid certain creams and lotions, avoid excessive sunlight) for the whatever product or instrument she will use. You cannot ask for a better esthetician than Dedra.

CRU-MM is one of those places. I remember that I was looking for an aesthetician at the time, and I was very impressed with CRU'MM's marketing materials and results. So I made an appointment for a facial and had a good experience overall. I remember Regina being very kind, her salon being very calming (with free snacks), and the facial itself being very good (notwithstanding a nasty acne bump I had on my face at the time). I have no complaints about the facial itself. The only reason I give the experience 4 (instead of 5) stars is because I remember a few things that were less than ideal. First, there is not clear communication about the exact location of the salon within the building, so that leads to unnecessary confusion after you arrive. Also, if I recall correctly, Regina was running a bit behind on the day I went, so I recall having to sit in a small waiting area while waiting for my appointment to finally start. There was one other couple there, and they were watching some kind of raunchy video on speaker. So it was not a relaxing or edifying experience before the facial began. Thankfully, the energy was very different inside Regina's salon once my appointment actually got started. In sum, I only visited once. But I had a good experience overall. I didn't realize that all I had to do is cross the Woodrow Wilson Bridge into MD to find it. I had been experiencing elevated levels of stress, so I decided to book a 2 hour massage. I had Josh, and he was incredible. He worked on areas where I have old injuries. He consistently checked in to make sure that I was doing well. The jazz music option was really nice.
